What Are the COD Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Rewards?
Every time you finish a mission in the Modern Warfare 4 campaign, you get a reward. There are 16 missions in total and 16 rewards — one per mission, no exceptions.
The rewards range from Base Operators you can use in Multiplayer and DMZ, to XP boosts that help you level up faster. There are also some cosmetic goodies like a Calling Card, a Loading Screen, and an Emblem.
The good news? Difficulty does not matter here. You get the same reward whether you finish a mission on Recruit or Veteran. So if you just want the unlocks, there’s no pressure to suffer through the hardest settings.
If you’re also going for trophies and achievements, check our COD Modern Warfare 4 campaign trophy and achievement list — those are tracked separately from these mission rewards.

All MW4 Campaign Operators – Who Are They?
Operators are the most valuable part of this reward track because they widen your roster right away in Multiplayer and DMZ. Half the campaign rewards are Operators, so there’s real incentive to keep playing mission to mission.
Here’s a quick breakdown of all 8 campaign Operators and when you unlock them:
- Cho – Mission 1 (Mayhem)
- Dallas – Mission 4 (Hired Gun)
- Luca – Mission 6 (Traffic)
- Oh-Ji – Mission 8 (Assassins)
- Kal – Mission 10 (Stranded)
- Dunn – Mission 12 (Counter Attack)
- West – Mission 14 (Entrenched)
- Park – Mission 16 (Greater Good)
Park is the campaign’s main character and the last unlock. You have to finish the entire story to get him. That’s by design — it’s a nice payoff for seeing the campaign through to the end.
If you’re playing the Stranded mission and want to grab all the extras, our MW4 Stranded puzzle codes and yellow crate locations guide will help you out.
How Do MW4 Campaign XP Tokens Work?
Three missions give you a Double XP Token and two give you a Double Weapon XP Token. You can hold these and activate them whenever you want — they don’t get used automatically.
These are especially useful if you plan to grind Multiplayer or DMZ after the campaign. Save them for when you’re actively playing and want a fast boost.
One thing to note: if you played the campaign during Early Access (October 16–22), the XP tokens were locked until the game fully launched on October 23. So if you rushed the story early, those tokens were sitting ready and waiting for launch day.

MW4 Campaign Cosmetics – Calling Card, Loading Screen, and Emblem
Not every reward is an Operator or XP boost. Three missions reward cosmetics that show up on your profile and in lobby screens:
- No More Rules Calling Card – Unlocked by completing Mission 2 (Out in the Cold)
- Ready Line Loading Screen – Unlocked by completing Mission 5 (Losing Ground)
- Gone Dark Emblem – Unlocked by completing Mission 7 (Gone Dark)
These won’t give you a gameplay edge, but they’re a nice way to show off that you played through the campaign — especially early on when most players are still on their first run.
When Can You Use MW4 Campaign Rewards in Multiplayer and DMZ?
All 16 campaign rewards unlock the moment you finish their missions. But there’s a catch if you played during Early Access.
Activision confirmed that rewards earned during Campaign Early Access — which started October 16 — were not available for use until the full game launched on October 23. So if you blasted through the campaign in those first few days, your Operators and tokens were sitting locked until launch day.
From October 23 onward, all 16 campaign rewards can be used in both Multiplayer and DMZ with no restrictions.

Does Difficulty Affect Which Campaign Rewards You Get?
No. You get the same 16 rewards regardless of which difficulty you choose. Recruit, Regular, Hardened — it doesn’t matter for the mission reward track.
So if your only goal is to collect all the Operators and XP tokens, play on Recruit and get through the campaign as fast as you can. You can always replay missions on harder settings later.
The campaign takes about 7–8 hours on a standard playthrough at a comfortable pace. If you want to know exactly how long it takes on each difficulty, check our how long to beat Modern Warfare 4 campaign breakdown.
YOLO Difficulty – Extra Campaign Challenge After the Main Run
If you finish the campaign once, Realism difficulty unlocks. After you beat Realism, a mode called YOLO becomes available.
YOLO gives you just one life to complete the entire campaign. If you die, it’s over. No checkpoints, no second chances.
It’s an extreme challenge and not something you’d attempt casually. But for players who want to push past the standard 16 mission rewards and test themselves further, it’s there. Some extra rewards are tied to completing YOLO as well, separate from the main mission reward track.

Do Campaign Rewards Carry Over to Warzone?
The 8 campaign Operators and cosmetics are tied to your Modern Warfare 4 account, so they work across the game’s modes. However, Warzone integration with Modern Warfare 4 didn’t launch on day one — the full Warzone Season 1 content arrived November 6.
Once Warzone updated, your campaign Operators became usable there as well. The XP tokens, of course, are consumed when activated — they don’t carry into Warzone permanently.
For the full picture on what carries forward between games and modes, see our COD Modern Warfare 4 Warzone carry forward content guide.
Are Campaign Rewards Worth Getting?
Yes — especially if you were planning to play Multiplayer or DMZ anyway. The 8 Operators alone give you a full roster before most players even enter Multiplayer for the first time. That’s meaningful because you’re not locked into default looks from day one.
The XP tokens are also useful for players who want to level up weapons faster or rank up early. Combined, the campaign reward track is one of the better reasons to play through the story even if you’re mainly a Multiplayer or DMZ player.
It takes 7–8 hours on a relaxed run. That’s a reasonable time investment for 8 Operators, 5 XP boosts, and a set of cosmetics.
If you want to push further and collect every in-game achievement while you’re at it, see our guides for the No Harm Done achievement and the No Stone Unturned achievement.
You can also grab the game on Steam, PlayStation Store, or Xbox Store.
And if you’re thinking about the extra pre-order goodies, we’ve covered the Vault Edition rewards and all pre-order bonuses in a separate guide.
Does Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Have Zombies?
