Small Batteries are one of those crafting materials in Crimson Desert that sounds simple but confuses a lot of players because the game never clearly points you toward a farming spot. You need a lot of them — up to 200 for a single recipe — so knowing where to go efficiently matters. This guide covers every method and the fastest approach to stock up quickly.
What Are Small Batteries?
Small Batteries are crafting materials found in the Delesyia region of Crimson Desert. The in-game description calls them “a battery that moves a machine.” They drop from mech enemies and are a core ingredient for several advanced Kuku crafting recipes at Grimnir’s Kuku Shop in the Kilnden Workshop.
Here’s what you need them for:
- Kuku Watcher Pack — 200 Small Batteries required (plus other components)
- Kuku Rocket Pack — used in crafting Oongka’s jetpack
- Kuku Flame Spear — x10 Small Batteries required
- Small Kuku A.T.A.G. — the blueprint for the mech mount also uses them
The Kuku Watcher Pack is the biggest demand. It deploys two combat drones that auto-attack nearby enemies, essentially giving you a free damage source in every fight. It’s considered one of the strongest utility packs in the game. Where to Get Small Batteries
Method 1 – Man’s Steel Armory (Best Farming Spot)
The single best location for farming Small Batteries is Man’s Steel Armory in southeastern Delesyia. This is the most efficient spot by a wide margin and the one you should prioritize.
Here’s why it works so well: as you fight mechs inside the armory and the area’s liberation percentage bar starts dropping, three small mechs spawn in constant waves. The waves keep coming as long as the bar hasn’t been fully depleted, so you’re in a continuous farming loop. Each wave of small mechs drops a solid quantity of batteries per kill.
In around 5 to 10 minutes of farming here, you can accumulate well over 200 Small Batteries — more than enough for a full Kuku Watcher Pack recipe in a single session. The enemies here also drop Cogwheels and Clockwork Insects at the same time, so you’re collecting multiple crafting materials in parallel without making separate trips.
Key tip: Don’t fully liberate Man’s Steel Armory if you want to keep farming. Once the area is completely cleared, the wave spawns stop. Hold off on finishing the liberation until you have everything you need.
Method 2 – Roads and HALL Strongholds in Southeast Delesyia
If you’re moving through the region naturally rather than farming a fixed spot, Small Batteries drop from humanoid robots scattered across the roads and HALL-occupied camps throughout southeastern Delesyia. These areas are consistently flooded with mech enemies of all sizes, and every small bipedal robot you destroy can drop batteries alongside other mechanical components like Cogs and Gunpowder.
The same rule applies here as at Man’s Steel Armory: farm before liberating the HALL strongholds. Once you clear them out, the roads become safer and you’ll encounter far fewer hostile robots. If you’ve already progressed through this area via the main story and cleared the strongholds, you’ll need to rely on Man’s Steel Armory instead.
Method 3 – Aeronautical Research Base Dispatch Mission
There is a dispatch mission available at the Aeronautical Research Base that rewards Small Batteries on completion. Community reports indicate this mission is accessible even while the surrounding region appears locked, so it’s worth checking regardless of your story progress. If you’re in Chapter 11 and the normal farming routes feel restricted, this is your best passive option.
To access it: open your map, go to the Factions tab, and look for the Aeronautical Research Base mission listing. Dispatch your comrades and collect the reward when it completes. Method 4 – Flying Merchants
Roaming flying merchants in Delesyia occasionally stock Small Batteries for purchase. This isn’t a reliable primary method, but if you’re short on a small number of batteries to finish a recipe, checking merchants as you pass through the region can save you a farming run.
Tips for Farming Small Batteries Efficiently
Bring a pet. Small bipedal robots drop individual items that you have to pick up manually one by one. In a heavy fight with multiple enemies down, this becomes tedious fast. Bring your Kuku Pack for the dragonfly swarms. The robot dragonfly swarms in Delesyia are practically endless and will constantly interrupt your combat rhythm if you let them. Activate the Kuku Pack to suck in every mechanical insect in a wide area around you. They get converted to resources automatically so you don’t have to deal with them at all.
Use Lightning-imbued attacks on big mechs. The larger robots hit hard and take time to kill. If you have the Lightning element and the Imbue Element skill unlocked, use Lightning-imbued Turning Slashes for significantly more damage. Big mechs also drop Electric Components alongside batteries, so they’re worth killing even if they’re tougher. Manage your inventory before you go. You’ll be picking up a large volume of loot — batteries, cogs, gunpowder, electrical components, clockwork insects. Use the Kuku Pot for Electric Components. The large mechs also drop Electric Components, which must be collected using Axiom Force and stored in your Kuku Pot. Make sure your Kuku Pot has space so you don’t miss out on these while focused on picking up batteries.
Don’t liberate areas until you’re done farming. This is the most important rule. Liberating HALL strongholds and the Man’s Steel Armory permanently reduces the number of hostile robots in those areas. If farming is your goal, fight the enemies but don’t complete the liberation objective until you’re satisfied with your haul.
What to Craft With Small Batteries
Once you have enough batteries stocked, head to Grimnir’s Kuku Shop at the Kilnden Workshop, located west of Hernand. Fast travel to the nearby Abyss Nexus for quick access.
The Kuku Watcher Pack is the priority for most players. It requires 200 Small Batteries plus other components and gives you two combat drones that auto-target enemies — completely passive firepower that makes boss fights and camp clearing noticeably easier. You’ll need the Blueprint II: Kuku Watcher Pack from completing the Sanctum of Atonement before the recipe appears.
For the Kuku Rocket Pack — Oongka’s jetpack — Small Batteries are also part of the recipe alongside Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and Cogwheels. This unlocks after Chapter 8 when Pailune opens.
