What Is the Kuku Rocket Pack?
The Kuku Rocket Pack is Oongka’s jetpack in Crimson Desert. It lets him fly around the open world of Pywel the same way Kliff uses his glider wings.
Without it, Oongka is stuck on the ground while the other characters have full aerial mobility. With it, he becomes just as free to explore vertically — and arguably more fun to fly around with.
The whole crafting system is tied to Grimnir, a dwarf inventor you meet at the Kilnden Workshop during Chapter 4’s main quest called The Mysterious Pot. He runs the Kuku Shop there, and all crafting for the pack line happens at his location.
The process has two stages. First, you make the base Kuku Pack. Then you upgrade it into the Kuku Rocket Pack. You can’t skip straight to the rocket version.
How To Craft Kuku Pack In Crimson Desert
Step 1: Get Blueprint I — Complete the Sanctum of Penitence
Before you can craft anything, you need the blueprint.
Blueprint I: Kuku Pack is obtained by completing the Sanctum of Penitence — a trial inside the Witch of Wisdom Faction Quest. This is a Faction Quest, not a main story quest, so you need to actively pursue it. Don’t skip it.
Once you clear the Sanctum, the blueprint is yours. Reading it permanently teaches Kliff the recipe, so the blueprint item itself can be sold afterward.
If the Kuku Pack crafting option isn’t showing up at Grimnir’s shop, this is almost always the reason — the Sanctum of Penitence hasn’t been completed yet.

Step 2: Gather the Materials
Once you have the blueprint, you need two items:

The Kuku Pot (also called the Kuku Iron Pot) is the portable crafting tool you received during the Mysterious Pot quest in Chapter 4. Check your Key Items tab if you can’t find it. Players often forget it’s there.
The Peddler’s Pack can be looted from traveling merchants on the road. It may also show up in Back Alley Shops or from Street Vendors if you’d rather buy one than farm for it.
Step 3: Go to Grimnir’s Kuku Shop at Kilnden Workshop
Head to Kilnden Workshop, which is west of Hernand town. The easiest way to get there is by teleporting to the Abyss Nexus west of the workshop, then walking over.
Speak to Grimnir. His crafting options will be visible in the dialogue. Select the Kuku Pack with your materials in hand, and he’ll build it for you.
The base Kuku Pack is just a backpack at this point. It doesn’t grant flight. But it’s the required foundation for the upgrade.
How To Craft Kuku Rocket Pack In Crimson Desert
Step 1: Unlock Oongka as a Playable Character
You cannot start the Kuku Rocket Pack quest until Oongka is a full member of your party. He becomes playable during Chapter 7, after your confrontation with Myurdin at Ashclaw Keep. The game transfers control to Oongka directly at that story beat — no side quest needed.

Step 2: Read the Letter from Grimnir
After Oongka joins as a playable character, switch to playing as Oongka. After progressing through a few missions with him, an NPC will walk up and hand you a letter — “Letter from Grimnir.”
This is the key step most players miss. You must read and examine the letter. Just receiving it isn’t enough. If you don’t examine it, Blueprint II: Kuku Rocket Pack will not unlock, and the recipe won’t appear at the workshop.
Once examined, the blueprint is added to your Knowledge tab under the Kuku Pot entry. You can verify it’s there before heading to the workshop.
Step 3: Gather the Rocket Pack Materials
The Kuku Rocket Pack requires more materials than the base pack. Here’s the full list:

Iron Ore and Copper Ore are the easiest to get. Ore veins glow visibly across Pywel, especially around the Hernand region. Cogwheels and Small Batteries are the trickier part. The most reliable method is looting Pirates in Demeniss — they drop both consistently. Destroying vases, crates, and barrels in high-level areas also has a chance to drop them. You can also try Back Alley Shops in Pailune if you have enough gold and want to skip the grind.
Step 4: Craft the Kuku Rocket Pack at Kilnden Workshop
Return to Grimnir at Kilnden Workshop. The Kuku Rocket Pack is crafted at the Mysterious Iron Pot there — not just through standard dialogue. Once you have all the materials, interact with the Mysterious Iron Pot, select the Kuku Rocket Pack, and craft it.
How To Use the Kuku Rocket Pack In Crimson Desert
Equipping and using the Kuku Rocket Pack is straightforward once it’s crafted. Here’s exactly how:
- Open the Summoning Menu (hold Up on the D-Pad on controller)
- Switch to Oongka from the character wheel
- Open Oongka’s Inventory
- Scroll to find the Kuku Rocket Pack
- Press Equip (Square on PS5 / X on Xbox)
To fly, get to any high point — a cliff, a rooftop, a tower. Jump off, and while airborne, press the Jump button a second time. Oongka will fire up the thrusters and start flying.
Flying Tips
- Flight runs on stamina. The moment stamina hits zero, Oongka drops. There’s no hover option.
- Upgrade your stamina via Abyss Artifacts to extend flight time significantly. This is the single most impactful upgrade for using the jetpack well.
- Flight works exactly like Kliff’s glider — you’re covering horizontal and vertical distance at the same time, not just floating in place.
- The higher you jump from, the more distance you can cover before stamina runs out.
- You can hold the flight button to move faster through the air, but this drains stamina quicker.

Common Problems and Fixes
“The Kuku Pack isn’t showing up at Grimnir’s shop.” You haven’t completed the Sanctum of Penitence yet. That’s the only source of Blueprint I. Go back to the Witch of Wisdom Faction Quest and finish that Sanctum.
“I can’t see the Kuku Rocket Pack crafting option.” You either haven’t unlocked Oongka yet, or you received Grimnir’s letter but didn’t examine it. Open your inventory, find the Letter from Grimnir in Key Items, and read it. That action is what registers the blueprint.
“I’m trying to equip the Kuku Rocket Pack but nothing happens.” Make sure you’re playing as Oongka, not Kliff. The Rocket Pack only works in Oongka’s equipment slot. Kliff uses wings — Oongka uses the jetpack.
“Flight stops too quickly.” You need more stamina. Invest your Abyss Artifacts into stamina upgrades for Oongka specifically. Each character has their own separate skill and stat progression.
Why Get the Kuku Rocket Pack?
It’s completely optional. The game never forces you to craft it. But it’s worth getting as soon as possible once Oongka unlocks.
It turns him from a powerful but slow ground-fighter into a character with the same aerial freedom as Kliff. Exploration in Pywel opens up significantly when all three of your characters can fly or glide. It also just looks extremely cool.
The Kuku Pack system goes deeper than the Rocket Pack too. Grimnir’s shop has around nine different Kuku Pack upgrades in total, each with different functions. The Rocket Pack is just the most useful for general exploration.
