TL;DR
- The Bowsprit Cape Abyss cube is located near the Bowsprit Cape Hollow cave in southeast Hernand, south of the Bay of Abundance.
- You need to find and slot four batteries — three inside or near the cube, one floating high above it.
- Use Aerial Force Palm + Crow Wings + Axiom Force to reach the high-altitude Square Battery.
- Once airborne, the cube will stop mid-flight — a Battery Slip event. Slot the loose battery using Force Current to continue.
- Successfully ascending brings you to Snakehead Valley, where the Path of Serpents Abyss puzzle begins.
- If you fall out mid-flight, the cube resets. You’ll have to slot all four batteries again from the start.
Where To Find the Bowsprit Cape Abyss Cube
Head to the southeast edge of the Hernand landmass. The Bowsprit Cape is south of the Bay of Abundance. You’ll find the Abyss cube sitting near the Bowsprit Cape Hollow cave — it’s hard to miss since it’s a large metallic structure sitting awkwardly on the coastal terrain.
This is one of Crimson Desert’s falling Abyss chambers. It’s lost power and crashed here. Your job is to re-power it so it can ascend back into the Abyss. This is not a standard fixed-location Abyss puzzle — it’s a moving platform sequence that ends in the Abyss above Snakehead Valley.
Before attempting this puzzle, make sure Kliff has the following skills unlocked:
- Axiom Force (L3 / Left Stick press) — required to grab and connect batteries
- Aerial Force Palm — needed to gain extra height
- Crow Wings / Glider — required to stay airborne and aim at the high battery
If you haven’t unlocked your glider yet, complete more of the main story first. The high-altitude Square Battery is nearly impossible to reach without it.
Bowsprit Cape Puzzle Solution — Step by Step
Step 1: Enter the Cube and Slot Battery 1

Walk up to the Abyss cube and step inside through the opening. You’ll find the first battery already sitting on top of its slot. It just needs to be connected.
Aim your Axiom Force at the battery and connect it. Then use the Force Current skill while still connected to snap it into position in its slot.
Tip: Always use Force Current while connected to a battery to lock it in place. Manually dragging batteries without Force Current is much harder and less accurate.
Step 2: Slot Battery 2

Look around the interior of the chamber. The second battery is floating in one of the corners. Aim your Axiom Force at it, connect, and guide it to one of the remaining empty battery slots on the wall or floor.
Use Force Current again to install it cleanly.
Step 3: Find and Slot Battery 3 (Outside the Cube)

The third battery is outside the structure, floating near one of the broken walls. It’s close enough to see from inside but too far to grab with Axiom Force from inside the cube.
Step outside, approach the battery directly, and connect to it with Axiom Force. Then walk it back into the interior of the cube through the broken wall opening.
Once inside, guide it to the remaining battery slot and use Force Current to install it.
Step 4: Reach and Slot the Square Battery (High Altitude)
This is the hardest part. The fourth battery — the Square Battery — is floating far above the cube. It’s completely out of Axiom Force range from the ground.

Here’s how to reach it:
- Exit the cube and move to a nearby hill or elevated surface close to the cube.
- From that higher position, use Aerial Force Palm to jump as high as possible. Chain jumps if needed — some players use three consecutive jumping Force Palms to get maximum height.
- At the peak of your jump height, open Kliff’s Crow Wings to glide and hold your position in the air.
- While gliding, aim your Axiom Force at the Square Battery above you. The range should now be enough to connect.
- Once connected, immediately start pulling the battery downward. Don’t let it stay at height — begin lowering it right away before your stamina or glide runs out.
Once the battery is at a manageable level, guide it toward the cube’s opening and push it inside. Place it in the final battery slot.
Step 5: Install the Square Battery
With the Square Battery inside the cube and near its slot, there’s one final trick to install it properly.
Stand on top of the Square Battery itself, then jump and use Aerial Force Palm while in the air above it. This downward force is what fully installs the battery into the slot.
Once all four batteries are installed, the Abyss cube will power up and begin ascending.
Step 6: Survive the Ascent — Mid-Air Battery Slip
Stay inside the cube at all costs once it starts moving. If you fall out, the cube will eventually de-spawn and return to Bowsprit Cape, and you’ll have to slot all four batteries again from scratch.
About halfway through the ascent, the cube will suddenly stop. This is a scripted event — one of the batteries will have shifted loose during the climb.
Don’t panic. Look for the battery that’s slipped out of place. It will be visible inside the chamber.
- Connect to the loose battery using Axiom Force.
- While still connected, use Force Current to push it back into its slot.
Once it’s locked back in, the cube resumes its ascent and continues all the way up to the Abyss.
Puzzle Complete: Welcome to Snakehead Valley
The cube will arrive in Snakehead Valley inside the Abyss. There’s also a small Abyss Chest near the landing point — grab it before moving on.
From here, the Path of Serpents Abyss puzzle begins. This puzzle involves rotating platform tiles using Axiom Force to route a blue power current through a grid and activate batteries on both walls. Completing it activates a wind turbine that lets you glide up to grab an Abyss Artifact.
Common Problems and Fixes
“I can’t reach the Square Battery.” You need height. Use Aerial Force Palm from a nearby hill first, not from flat ground next to the cube. Chain multiple jumping Force Palms for maximum altitude, then open your Crow Wings at the peak to extend your reach.
“The battery keeps slipping out of the slot.” You’re not using Force Current. Hold the skill button while connected to the battery — Force Current locks it into the slot. Plain Axiom Force dragging isn’t precise enough.
“The cube stopped rising and I can’t find the loose battery.” Check the floor and walls of the interior. The slipped battery doesn’t fly out of the cube — it’s still inside, just detached from its slot. It usually slides to a corner or the center floor.
“I fell out of the cube while it was flying.” You’ll have to restart. The cube resets to Bowsprit Cape after de-spawning. Return to the location and slot all four batteries again. The process is exactly the same.
“I don’t have Crow Wings yet.” Crow Wings (the glider) are unlocked through main story progression. You need them to reach the Square Battery. Keep following the main quest until Kliff gains aerial mobility.
Tips for the Bowsprit Cape Puzzle
- Always use Force Current to slot batteries. It’s the difference between a clean install and spending five minutes fighting the physics engine.
- Come prepared with stamina. The aerial section for the Square Battery drains stamina fast. If your stamina bar is low, the glide window to connect Axiom Force will be very short.
- Don’t rush inside immediately. Look around the outside of the cube first so you know where Battery 3 is before you start, then plan your order.
- The Square Battery retrieval is a two-phase job. First get it down to reachable height, then guide it inside. Trying to thread it straight in from altitude is much harder.
- Watch your position during ascent. The cube rotates slightly as it rises. Staying near the center is safer than standing near the broken wall openings.
