What Is the Root’s End Puzzle in Crimson Desert?

Root’s End is one of the floating Abyss islands in Crimson Desert’s sky region, known as the Abyss. It’s the third island puzzle in the Path of Providence sequence, sitting after the Axiom Archive and the Ethereal Pathway.

Completing it rewards you with an Abyss Artifact. These are important items used to upgrade your character, improve weapons, and progress your build. There are 40 Abyss Restoration Challenges total in the game, so Root’s End is one you’ll want to tick off early.

After finishing Root’s End, the skybridge opens up and leads you directly to the next Abyss area — the Precipice of Truth.

How to Reach Root’s End in Crimson Desert

Root’s End unlocks after you complete the Abyss Without Balance main quest and finish both the Axiom Archive and Ethereal Pathway Abyss puzzles. You can’t skip ahead to it.

Once the Ethereal Pathway is cleared, fast travel to its Abyss Nexus and head east. You’ll see the floating rocks bridge ahead of you. Save your game before crossing it — the rocks move, and falling means starting the crossing over.

Here’s how the path to Root’s End breaks down step by step:

Step 1 – Cross the Floating Rocks Bridge

The bridge is made of moving rocks that shift side to side. Wait for them to align, then cross a few at a time. Don’t rush it.

Step 2 – Step on the Circular Teleport Platform

Once across, step on the circular platform on the other side. It teleports Kliff to another floating island farther away.

Step 3 – Cross the Moving Block Bridge

On this new island, you’ll face another moving bridge. This one shifts from side to side as well. Same approach — wait, move in stages, be patient.

Step 4 – Ride the Sky Platforms

A series of platforms will carry Kliff forward through the sky. Stay on them and let them do the work.

Step 5 – Jump the Dead End Gap

You’ll eventually reach a dead end. The platforms stop moving and won’t reach the massive main island ahead. You need to jump the gap yourself.

Stand at the edge, jump, then immediately use your Flight (Wings) or chain three Aerial Force Palms to gain enough height and distance to glide over. Don’t hesitate — commit to the jump and spread your wings early.

Step 6 – Activate the Abyss Nexus

The moment you land on the main Root’s End island, find the Abyss Nexus fast travel point on the north side. Stand on it for a moment to activate it. This is your checkpoint. If you fall off the island later, you can warp straight back here instead of repeating the whole crossing.

Root’s End Puzzle Solution in Crimson Desert

Now that you’re on the main island and the Abyss Nexus is activated, it’s time to actually solve the puzzle.

Step 1 – Enter the Hidden Chamber Through the Metal Grate

Head up the stairs toward the pavilion at the top of the island. You’ll find a metal grate in the center of the pavilion floor. This is your way in.

Important: You must crouch first, then use Force Palm to open it. Simply jumping and pressing Force Palm downward will not work. Crouch first, then press the Force Palm input.

Once the grate opens, Kliff drops into a long vertical tube below.

Step 2 – Descend Through the Laser Corridor

Kliff will free-fall down a long shaft filled with moving lasers. Don’t panic.

Activate your Wings (Flight skill) as soon as you start falling and glide slowly downward. Take your time. The lasers move in patterns, so fly through the gaps and steer Kliff side to side to avoid them. Rushing this section is how most players take damage here.

Step 3 – Grab the First Blue Crystal

When you reach the bottom of the shaft, look around. You’ll see a pair of floating rocks and a blue energy crystal floating up high between them.

Ideally, try to land on the rocks instead of the ground — this puts you close enough to grab the crystal with Axiom Force right away.

If you land on the ground, don’t worry. Here’s how to reach it:

  1. Use three Aerial Force Palms in a row to jump as high as possible
  2. At the peak of your height, open your Wings to glide
  3. While gliding, aim your Axiom Force at the crystal and pull it toward you

Once you have the crystal in range, use Axiom Force to pull it down to the socket on the mechanism below.

Step 4 – Place the First Crystal in Its Socket

Carry the crystal to the socket on the mechanism using Axiom Force. It will float just above the slot — it needs a small push to slot in properly.

Get on top of the floating crystal and do a double jump or use an Aerial Force Palm to push it downward into place. When it clicks in, the mechanism activates and a teleport pad lights up on the floor.

Step 5 – Use the Teleport Pad

Step on the glowing circular platform and it will teleport Kliff to the upper section of Root’s End to complete the second half of the puzzle.

Step 6 – Grab and Place the Second Blue Crystal

Up here, you’ll spot another blue crystal floating nearby. This one is more straightforward to collect.

Use Axiom Force to aim the crystal directly in front of its socket slot. Then use the Force Current skill to push it forward into place. It will slide in and lock.

Step 7 – Activate the Final Mechanism

With the second crystal in its slot, the last mechanism activates in front of you. A circular platform rises from the ground.

Crouch on top of the center of this platform and use Force Palm while crouching to punch the pressure pad. This triggers the final cutscene and officially completes the Root’s End puzzle in Crimson Desert.

Root’s End Puzzle Reward

After the mechanism activates, an Abyss Artifact appears — collect it before leaving. This item is used to upgrade your character, enhance weapons, and unlock skills. Don’t miss it.

Completing Root’s End also unlocks the skybridge at the end of the area, which leads to the next Abyss challenge — the Precipice of Truth.

If you have enough stamina upgrades, you can also glide directly to the Precipice of Truth island from the northeast edge of Root’s End without using the skybridge.

Tips for Root’s End

  • Save before the floating rocks bridge. Falling resets your crossing and it’s annoying to repeat.
  • Activate the Abyss Nexus the moment you land on the main island. It’s easy to forget in the excitement, and you’ll regret it if you fall.
  • Crouch before Force Palming the grate. Many players waste time trying to open it without crouching first.
  • Glide slowly through the laser shaft. There’s no timer. Take your time and fly through gaps carefully.
  • Try to land on the floating rocks at the bottom, not the ground — it gets you closer to the crystal and saves a tricky aerial grab.

What Comes After Root’s End?

Once Root’s End is done, the Precipice of Truth opens up. That puzzle introduces power cores, moving batteries, and fan-powered platforms — a noticeable step up in complexity. Prepare for it.
