Crimson Desert: Patrigio Secret Shop Merchant Location

Looking for Patrigio in Crimson Desert? Here's where to find the secret shop merchant, when he spawns, what he sells, and how to max out his trust for The Claw.

TL;DR

  • Patrigio is a wandering secret shop merchant who only appears at night between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM
  • He is only available from Chapter 3 onward — unlocking the Howling Hill camp is required
  • He roams the road between Springtide Mill and Howling Hill, also appearing near Goldleaf Trading Post and Kilnden Workshop
  • His shop sells Abyss Artifacts, Iron Ore, Copper Ore, and a Kinetic Counterweight among other items
  • Reach 100 Trust by gifting him 20 Decent Copper Pouches to unlock The Claw fishing rod as a reward
  • Use the save-reload method just before midnight to force his spawn without waiting real-life hours

Patrigio is one of those NPCs you can easily miss entirely. He does not have a shop marker on the map. He does not stand behind a counter in town. He wanders the roads at night, and if you do not know when or where to look, you can play for dozens of hours without ever seeing him.

That is a shame — because his shop carries some genuinely useful early items, and his trust reward is one of the best quality-of-life unlocks in the game. Here is everything you need to know to find him reliably.

Who Is Patrigio in Crimson Desert?

Patrigio is a wandering secret shop merchant roaming the roads of Pywel. He has no fixed location, no map icon, and no shop sign. He only appears at night and disappears before dawn. His inventory is limited and finite — once items are bought out, they do not restock.

He is a nod to Pearl Abyss’s other title, Black Desert Online, where a merchant of the same name runs a similar night-time secret shop. In Crimson Desert, he is his own character with his own route through Hernand.

When Does Patrigio Appear in Crimson Desert?

Patrigio only spawns between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM in-game time. Outside of those hours, he is simply not in the world. He also only becomes available after you reach Chapter 3 and unlock the Howling Hill camp. Before that point, he will not appear regardless of the time.

Once you hit midnight, he has a chance — but not a guarantee — of appearing at one of his known locations. His spawn is random every night, which is what makes finding him frustrating without a reliable method.

Patrigio Secret Shop Location in Crimson Desert — All Known Spawn Points

Patrigio does not follow a fixed route every night, but he does have a set of confirmed areas where he tends to appear. Here are the locations players have reliably found him:

Howling Hill Camp Location

Howling Hill Camp Entrance — Patrigio has a chance to appear inside the camp itself, near Ross the Dispatch Coordinator, or on the road just outside the camp entrance heading down toward Hernand. This is the easiest spot to check since you likely have the Abyss Nexus fast travel point here already.

Springtide Mill
Springtide Mill
Springtide Mill 2
Springtide Mill 2

Springtide Mill — Located directly north of Howling Hill along the main road that circles Hernand. Patrigio walks along this road at night and is frequently spotted in this area.

Kilnden Workshop
Kilnden Workshop
Kilnden Workshop 2
Kilnden Workshop 2

Kilnden Workshop — The workshop where you unlock the Kuku Pot during Chapter 4. Patrigio has a chance to appear on the roads immediately west of this location.

Goldleaf Trading Post — Players have reported finding him walking near this location as well.

Beyond these confirmed spots, some players have also reported seeing him near the Sanctum of Benediction, Sunset Valley, and south of Demeniss. The road between Springtide Mill and Howling Hill is considered his most consistent stretch.

One important rule: Patrigio only walks on paved roads that are marked on the map. He never appears out in the wilderness. Stick to the roads when searching.

How to Find Patrigio Reliably — The Save Reload Method

Waiting night after night hoping Patrigio shows up is a waste of time. There is a much faster method that the community has verified.

Here is how it works:

Head to the Howling Hill camp or the Springtide Mill road before midnight. Rest at a bonfire or bed to pass time until around 11:58 PM. At exactly 11:58 PM, make a manual hard save. Wait for the clock to tick over to 12:00 AM. Step outside the camp entrance and check the road heading down toward Hernand.

If Patrigio does not appear, reload that 11:58 PM save and try again. Because his spawn is determined fresh each time the night begins, reloading gives you a new roll every attempt. Most players find him within a handful of reloads this way.

Note that you cannot simply skip time forward to the next midnight in Crimson Desert. The save-reload method is the only reliable way to repeatedly reset his spawn window without waiting through an entire in-game day.

What Does Patrigio Sell in Crimson Desert?

Patrigio’s Secret Shop carries seven items, all priced in Copper — the smallest currency unit in the game. The conversion is 100 Copper to 1 Silver, and 500 Silver to 1 Gold Bar.

His most strategically valuable item is the Abyss Artifact, priced at 2,850 Copper (around 28.5 Silver). Abyss Artifacts are used to unlock and upgrade skills on your character sheet. Getting one from Patrigio in Chapter 3 puts you ahead of the curve, since Witch vendors — the next main source — do not unlock until Chapter 5. His stock is limited, so buy it out when you find him. For more on how Abyss Artifacts work, see our full Crimson Desert Abyss Gears list.

He also sells Iron Ore and Copper Ore at low Copper prices. These are useful if you are short on refinement materials before a blacksmith visit. They are obtainable through mining as well, so only buy from Patrigio if you need them urgently. For mining tips, see our guides on how to get Iron Ore and how to get Copper Ore.

The most expensive item in his shop is the Kinetic Counterweight at 7,000 Copper (70 Silver). It is a decorative collectible with no combat function, but it is the only place you can get it. If you are furnishing your Greymane Camp or personal home, this is worth picking up before his stock runs dry.

His inventory does not restock once purchased. Buy what you need the first time you find him.

How to Build Trust With Patrigio in Crimson Desert

Like all merchants and NPCs in Crimson Desert, Patrigio has a trust meter. The real reason to max it out is the reward: reach 100 Trust and he hands you The Claw — a unique auto-reel fishing rod that is not sold in any shop and cannot be crafted. It automatically reels in fish once a bite is detected, making fishing significantly more passive.

The fastest way to max his trust is to gift him 20 Decent Copper Pouches. Each pouch gives 5 Trust points, so 20 pouches takes him straight from 0 to 100 in a single visit.

Decent Copper Pouches are a common drop from bandit camps and enemy patrols throughout Hernand. You can stockpile them just through normal combat without spending any Silver. Start collecting them early so you are ready when you find Patrigio.

There is a daily gift limit. If he stops accepting pouches during a visit, come back the next night and continue. You can also gain small amounts of Trust by purchasing items from his shop each visit or simply by greeting him. But gifting 20 pouches in one go is by far the most efficient method.

Tips for Finding Patrigio in Crimson Desert

A few extra things worth knowing before you go hunting.

Activate the Howling Hill Abyss Nexus fast travel point first. It puts you right at his most common spawn area and saves a lot of travel time. If you have not set up the camp yet, see our guide on how to unlock the camp in Crimson Desert.

Stockpile Copper Pouches before you find him. You do not want to finally track him down and have no way to build trust. Keep at least 20 in your inventory from Chapter 3 onward.

He only spawns once per night. Once he appears in a location, he stays there until 4:00 AM. He will not appear in two places at once on the same night.

His inventory can change between spawns. If you find him but he is not carrying the Abyss Artifact that visit, reloading your pre-midnight save can sometimes change his stock. This is a secondary benefit of the save-reload method.

Ride the road between Springtide Mill and Howling Hill at midnight. If you set a waypoint along this stretch and ride at night, you will cross his path most nights. It is the most efficient patrol route for finding him.
