How to Restart the Elixir Factory in Crimson Desert

Stuck on the Elixir Factory quest in Crimson Desert? Here's a full step-by-step guide to restart every machine and brew the Perfect Elixir.

TL;DR

  • Defeat the Queen Spider in Arboria Castle first — the factory won’t open until she’s dead
  • This is part of the House Celeste “Abandoned Factory” quest chain, available in Chapter 3
  • There are eight machines to activate in a specific order — skip one and the factory stalls
  • The Perfect Elixir ratio is Yellow at position 4, Red at position 1
  • Rewards are three Greater Elixirs and a Fertilizer Sprayer
  • Arboria Castle also unlocks as a Greymane Dispatch location after completion

Some players call it the Chocolate Factory. Kliff calls it someone else’s problem. Either way, the Elixir Factory inside Arboria Castle is one of the most unique non-combat challenges in Crimson Desert. One moment you are fighting a giant spider boss. The next, you are standing in front of a massive industrial machine trying to figure out which lever does what.

It is not hard once you know the order. But the order matters a lot. Get one step wrong and the whole thing stalls. This guide walks you through every step so you do not waste time backtracking.

How to Unlock the Elixir Factory Quest in Crimson Desert

This quest does not just appear on its own. It is tied to the House Celeste faction questline, specifically the “Abandoned Factory” quest. You need to meet a few conditions before it activates.

Here is what you need to do first:

Complete the House Celeste quests in Hernand. These become available in Chapter 3, but you need to have been doing them progressively as you explore Hernand. Once you are far enough along, the spider boss quest and the factory quest will both unlock at the same time.

Defeat the Queen Spider at Arboria Castle. The factory is located in the Hills of No Return, northeast of Hernand, near Arboria Castle. The factory door will not open until the Queen Spider is dead and the castle is cleared of spiders. Arrows work well for the smaller spiders around the castle. The Queen Spider herself spends a lot of time on the walls, so ranged attacks help there too.

Once she is down and the area is clear, head to ground level inside the castle. You will see the factory machinery spread out around you. The quest to restart it will now be active.

How to Restart the Elixir Factory in Crimson Desert — Full Step-by-Step

There are eight machines to activate. Follow this order exactly.

Step 1 — Activate the Cultivation Room Control Unit

Head down the ladder at the start of the factory into the underground cultivation room. Find the control unit and pull the handle by pressing Square (PS5) / X (Xbox) / the interact button on PC. This powers up the growing area and gets the raw materials producing.

This room also contains the Fertilizer Sprayer, which you will collect at the very end of the quest. Leave it for now.

Step 2 — Activate the Ingredient Dispenser

Climb back up to the surface. Find the large metal tube — stand in front of it and hold L1 to aim at it. Look at the bottom right of the tube for a wooden square with a yellow circle. Press Triangle / Y to kick it. This pops out a lever. Push the lever all the way to the right using the Left Stick to get the conveyor belt moving.

Step 3 — Activate the Washer

Just behind the ingredient dispenser is a yellow handwheel. Grab it with Square / X and turn it left on the D-Pad until the Washer switches on. You will hear it kick in when it is working correctly.

Step 4 — Activate the Crusher

Follow the conveyor belt into the middle section of the factory. You need to get up to the platform above. Use Jump and then Force Palm three times to triple-jump up. This is the most awkward movement in the whole quest. If you keep missing, position yourself closer to the center before jumping rather than running at it from the side.

Once up top, find the Crusher Handwheel and turn it to the Right on the D-Pad until the crusher activates. Make sure you turn it right — both handwheels are close together and it is easy to grab the wrong one.

If you need help with Force Palm, see our guide on how to get and use Focused Force Palm in Crimson Desert.

Step 5 — Activate the Lift

Jump down from the crusher platform and follow the conveyor belt to the right. On the back of the metal wall, you will spot a hatch. Walk up and examine it to open it. Inside is a button. Press it to activate the Lift.

Step 6 — Activate the Dosing Pump

Directly opposite the Lift is the Dosing Pump. It looks like a large button sticking out from the machinery. There is no button prompt for this one. Simply walk into it using the Left Stick to push it in. That is all it takes.

Step 7 — Activate the Heater

Find the oil barrels — they are just through the arch to your left. Pick one up using L1 + X (PS5) / L1 + A (Xbox), then use Force Palm to push it into position at the Heater. Once the barrel is placed, grab the handle and activate the Heater.

The game’s quest log sometimes tells you to activate the Heater before the mixing ratio step. Do not let that confuse you. Follow the physical flow of the factory as listed here. If you try to heat a tank with nothing in it, the machine will stall.

Step 8 — Set the Mixing Ratio and Produce the Perfect Elixir

This is the most important step. Getting the ratio wrong means your elixirs will come out diluted or unstable and give fewer buffs.

Find the control panel with two handwheels — one yellow and one red.

Set the Yellow Handwheel to position 4 — turn it so the dial points to the top line.

Set the Red Handwheel to position 1 — turn it so the dial points to the bottom line.

Once both are set correctly, activate the elixir bottling machine. Head behind the Bottling Factory, which sits to the right of the Heater. There is a lever back there. Interact with it and wait a few minutes. The elixirs will begin flowing through the system. The quest completes automatically once production starts.

If the objective is not registering, go back to the mixing machine and re-set the ratios again. That usually fixes it.

What Do You Get for Completing the Elixir Factory Quest in Crimson Desert?

Once the factory is running and production is confirmed, head back down the ladder to the cultivation room. On your left just inside the room is a compartment. Open it to collect the Fertilizer Sprayer — you will need this for a later quest in the House Celeste chain.

You also receive three powerful elixirs as rewards:

  • Freya’s Greater Elixir
  • Apollonia’s Greater Elixir
  • Meliara’s Greater Elixir

These are potent buffs that are well worth having for tough fights ahead. They can also be crafted later using alchemy recipes if you want more.

On top of that, completing this quest opens up Arboria Castle as a Greymane Dispatch location. This is genuinely useful for sending Comrades on passive resource missions. If you are still building your camp, see our guides on how to get and level up Comrades and how to upgrade the Howling Hill Base Camp to Level 2.

Elixir Factory Troubleshooting in Crimson Desert

If something is not working, here are the common fixes.

The conveyor belt is not moving. Go back to Step 2 and make sure you pushed the lever all the way to the right. It needs to click into position.

The Crusher is not activating. Make sure you turned the Crusher Handwheel to the Right, not Left. Double-check you grabbed the right wheel — they are very close together.

The Heater will not light. Make sure the oil barrel is placed correctly first before trying to grab the handle. The order matters here.

The elixir came out the wrong color. The mixing ratio is wrong. Go back and reset — Yellow to position 4, Red to position 1.

The factory stopped mid-run. Do not fast travel out of Arboria Castle until the bottling process finishes and the quest completion banner appears. Leaving early can interrupt the sequence.

Soft-lock prevention tip: Right after defeating the Queen Spider but before touching any of the factory controls, make a manual save. This gives you a clean slate if any lever becomes unresponsive.

Tips Before You Start the Elixir Factory in Crimson Desert

A few things worth knowing before you touch anything in the factory.

You need the Force Palm skill to complete the triple-jump in Step 4. This is a core skill unlocked early in the game, so you likely already have it. If not, check our guide on best skills to level up first in Crimson Desert.

You also need to know how to use Focus — that is L1 / LB on controller. This is used throughout the factory interactions.

If you want to practice the triple-jump mechanic before entering the factory, the Training Dummy at the Greymanes Camp is a good place to get comfortable with Force Palm jumps in a zero-pressure environment.
