TL;DR
- Focused Force Palm is a Spirit Skill that breaks magical shimmering walls and opens hidden paths
- It cannot be bought with Abyss Artifacts — you must find a spirit and observe it in the world
- The main unlock point is during Chapter 4 on the road to Scholastone Institute
- You must clear Fort Perwin and defeat the Red Nightmare boss to reach the spirit
- Missing it in Chapter 4 means waiting until Chapter 9 to unlock it
- Costs only 5 Spirit per use, making it very cheap to spam
Focused Force Palm is one of the most important abilities in Crimson Desert. It lets Kliff punch through magical barriers and shimmering stone walls to open hidden paths, secret areas, and shortcuts that you simply cannot access any other way. Miss it, and you will find yourself locked out of a big chunk of content — including the Greymane Camp fast travel point.
The tricky part is that this skill works nothing like other abilities. You cannot buy it from a menu or spend Abyss Artifacts on it. You have to find a spirit in the world and observe it. Many players skip right past it without even realizing. This guide tells you exactly how to get it and how to use it correctly.

What Is Focused Force Palm?
Focused Force Palm is a Spirit Skill Tree ability exclusive to Kliff. It is an upgraded version of the standard Force Palm. While in Focus mode, you charge up and release a palm strike that penetrates through targets and shatters magical walls covered in shimmering, multicolored stone.
It is not just a puzzle tool either. The move also reduces enemy defense values temporarily, similar to the standard Force Palm, and its penetrating effect makes it useful against groups of tightly packed enemies.
At only 5 Spirit per use, it is extremely cheap. You can throw it out repeatedly without worrying much about resource management at all.
How to Get Focused Force Palm in Crimson Desert

Step 1: Complete the House Roberts Faction Questline
Before you can reach the Focused Force Palm location, you need to complete the House Roberts faction questline. This series of missions takes you through several key areas around Hernand, including the Karin Quarry and Fort Perwin to the southwest.
Fort Perwin is the key blocker. The path to the spirit is completely inaccessible until you capture the fort.
Step 2: Defeat the Red Nightmare at Fort Perwin
Fort Perwin is guarded by a boss called the Red Nightmare, along with a full army of bandits. This fight has a specific mechanic you need to understand.
You cannot damage the Red Nightmare effectively right away. You must first hit it with normal Force Palm attacks four to five times to fill up its yellow posture bar. Once the bar is full, it collapses and becomes completely vulnerable for a short window. That is your moment to deal real damage.
Make sure Kliff is properly upgraded before going in. You will be dealing with the boss and multiple enemies at the same time. If you need help with gear, check out our guides on how to get better equipment and how to reinforce equipment.
Step 3: Head West Through the Mountain Pass
Once Fort Perwin is cleared, ride west along the main road. You will reach a narrow mountain pass. Keep going through it.
On the other side, you will find a spirit standing in front of a rocky wall covered in shimmering, multicolored stone. Just approach the spirit and observe it. Kliff learns Focused Force Palm automatically. The screen will darken briefly and show a “Learning in Progress” notification.
After learning it, you can immediately break through the wall right there in front of you.
What If You Missed It in Chapter 4?
This skill is missable. If you glided or fast traveled to Scholastone and bypassed the road entirely, you will not encounter the spirit during Chapter 4. The same applies if you advanced too far in the main quest before going back.
If that happened, you will not get another chance to learn Focused Force Palm until Chapter 9, when the game automatically teaches it to you during that chapter’s progression.
So if you are still in or around Chapter 4, go back to the location between Fort Perwin and Kharonso now. The spirit should still be there on the road if you have not progressed too far. Do not skip it.
How to Use Focused Force Palm
Using it correctly trips up a lot of players, especially on keyboard and mouse. Here is the full breakdown.

Controls — Keyboard and Mouse
- Press X to enter Focus mode. Green leaves will surround Kliff and time will slow slightly.
- Hold the Middle Mouse Button to start charging Focused Force Palm.
- A green clover-shaped icon will appear as your aiming reticle.
- Aim it at the glowing circle on the wall. Once the circle flashes gold, release the button.
Controls — Controller
- Press LS + RS (L3 + R3) to enter Focus mode.
- Hold RS (R3) to charge and aim the Focused Force Palm.
- Look for the green clover reticle and position it inside the circle on the wall.
- When it glows gold, release to fire.

Important Tips
Stand back a little. Do not press up against the wall before firing. When an Abyss Cell collapses after you break the barrier, you can get caught in it and take damage. A few steps back is enough.
Wait for the gold glow. This is the key step many players miss. Hold the charge until the target circle flashes gold. Release too early and nothing will happen.
Hold for a long time. Several players on PC report that the charge takes longer than expected. Keep holding until the visual cues change and the colors shift around you.
If it does not work on mouse and keyboard, try switching to a controller temporarily to get past the section. There is a known quirk where Force Palm inputs can fail to register on certain keyboard bindings.
What Can Focused Force Palm Break?
Any wall with a shimmering, distorted, multicolored surface can be broken with Focused Force Palm. These walls are scattered all across the world and hide rewards, shortcuts, secret paths, and key items behind them.
Notable things you unlock with it include:
The Greymane Camp fast travel point. This is one of the biggest reasons you need this skill early. Without Focused Force Palm, you cannot activate this teleporter, which cuts off a major fast travel shortcut. Check our fast travel guide for more details on getting around the map efficiently.
Hidden areas and secret rewards. Everywhere you see that shimmering iridescent stone, try using Focused Force Palm on it. Many players walk past walls containing armor pieces, items, and shortcuts without even realizing they can be broken. You can also use it to access content like Abyss Cells hidden behind barriers.

Focused Force Palm in Combat
Outside of exploration and puzzles, Focused Force Palm is genuinely useful in fights too.
Its penetrating effect means it passes through the first target and hits enemies behind it. Against grouped enemies, this makes it a solid tool for hitting multiple targets at once.
It also reduces enemy defense values temporarily, just like the regular Force Palm. This pairs well with follow-up attacks from heavy weapons like a greatsword. If you are using a build that relies on breaking enemy posture, this ability complements it well.
Against certain bosses, hitting them with Focused Force Palm after breaking their posture deals strong damage during the vulnerable window.
It pairs naturally with other Focus branch skills like Focused Repulsion and Focused Insight, so if you are building around the Focus tree, this fits right in.

Spirit Cost and Resource Management
Focused Force Palm only costs 5 Spirit per use. That is very low. You can spam it freely in most situations without burning through your Spirit bar.
If you ever run low on Spirit, recharge it by entering Focus mode again (holding the Focus input). Learning to manage Spirit well opens up a lot of options in both exploration and combat. Read our max stamina guide to understand how both resources work together.
