Someone stole a valuable porcelain set at the Redfox Trading Post in Delesyia, and it is Kliff’s job to figure out who did it. This is the Broken Silence quest, part of the A Quiet Ripple faction questline. Like other Crimson Desert investigation quests, the challenge is not combat — it is picking the right dialogue answers after gathering testimony from all the suspects.
Pick the wrong answers and you do not catch the right person. This guide walks you through every suspect, where to find them, what they reveal, and exactly what to say to Vascal when it is time to deduce the culprit.

How to Start Broken Silence
Head to the Redfox Trading Post in Delesyia, in the northern part of the map near Beardtree Gorge. Find Vascal, the trading post manager, and speak with him. He will explain that a valuable porcelain set went missing during the inspection process after its delivery.
After the conversation, you will receive the Investigative Log: Broken Silence in your Key Items inventory. Read through it and then head out to question the suspects.
All 5 Suspects: Locations and What They Say
You need to speak to five people. Some are at the trading post, and others are further away at the Cornfield Farmhouse. Here is where to find each one and what key information they give you.
1. Renata

Renata is found at the Cornfield Farmhouse, in the north area near the houses with a drying rack. She says she arrived at the warehouse just after sunrise and left to meet someone. She returned when the sun was already high in the sky.
2. Osvald (the Appraiser)

Osvald is to the east of the Redfox Trading Post, standing by a tree near some chests. He says he started his inspections just after dawn and then left to put his ledgers in order. He also mentions that a trader was scheduled to come by that evening.
3. Tarbo (the Packer)

Tarbo is in the southern area of the Cornfield Farmhouse, near the sunflowers. He claims he was in the warehouse since sunrise and had been there all morning without leaving. This alibi sounds reasonable at first — but notice there is nobody who can confirm it.
4. Sairin (the Merchant)

Sairin is found near the trading post. She says she is just a merchant passing through. She went to the warehouse on unrelated business but left right away. She only visited after the sun was already setting.
5. Durvan (the Quartermaster)

Durvan is the furthest away. He is hiding behind a wooden pen at the Cornfield Farmhouse. He says he was working from dawn until the sun was well up in the sky.
6. Grano (the Freesword)

Grano is in the southern area of the Redfox Trading Post, sitting by a wooden structure. He reveals that the storehouse master, the appraiser, and the foreman all went on a break before lunch.

A Quiet Ripple: All Correct Answers for Vascal
Once you have spoken to all five suspects, return to Vascal at the Redfox Trading Post. He will begin deducing the clue. Select your answers in this exact order:
Answer 1: The ceramic was there until just before lunch, but vanished after coming back.
Answer 2: He was organizing the ledger, preparing for a trade in the evening, and realized that the ceramic went missing.
Answer 3: He went for a short break before lunch, Grano can confirm it.
Answer 4: He was too busy working, couldn’t leave the warehouse.
Answer 5: Says she only visited the warehouse after sunset, the storage master can confirm it.
Answer 6: First, the storage manager and the appraiser left in order. Next, the transport manager went out empty-handed.
Select these answers in the order listed and Vascal will identify the culprit correctly.
Who Stole the Ceramic? The Culprit Is Tarbo
The thief is Tarbo, the packer. His story about being stuck in the warehouse all morning with no one to verify it is the tell. Every other suspect either has a confirmed alibi or was nowhere near the ceramic during the critical window before lunch. Tarbo had the access and the unverified time to steal it — and he did.
What makes this worse is that it was not random. Tarbo held a personal grudge against the noble family and deliberately sabotaged the delivery.
Once Vascal identifies Tarbo as the culprit, head to the Cornfield Farmhouse and confront him there. Bring him in to complete the quest.
Quest Rewards
Completing Broken Silence gives you:
- Kinetic Circle (decorative item)
- Knowledge of Mirella (Lv. 1)
- 100 Delesyian Contribution points
The Delesyian Contribution is the more valuable reward here. It builds your standing in the Delesyia region and unlocks better vendor access as it grows. If you want to make the most of contribution points, check out our guide on how to use contribution points.
Tips for Investigation Quests in Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert has several investigation quests that all follow the same basic pattern — talk to suspects, report back with the correct answers. Here are a few things to keep in mind for all of them.
Do not rush the suspect conversations. Each testimony adds a piece of the puzzle. Skipping through dialogue quickly is the main reason players end up confused when they reach the deduction phase.
The correct answers always mirror what the suspects told you. If you read carefully, the right options should feel familiar when you see them. The wrong options are usually small wording variations designed to trip you up.
If you are working through other quests in the same style, our Missing Desert Melons investigation guide covers the Harvest of Greed quest in Tashkalp Territory with the same step-by-step format.
