TL;DR
- The Spire of the Sun is in Forebearer’s Barrens, Crimson Desert region (northeast)
- It spans two quests: Crossing Point (Quest 123) and Unwavering Steps (Quest 124), both in Chapter 9
- Mirrors can only move along floor grooves — don’t try to push them outside the lines
- Puzzle 1 outside: move only ONE corner mirror to complete the square
- Puzzle 2 outside: position 5 mirrors (A through E) in the correct spots to chain the beam
- Inside: interact with each mirror on the stairs and aim it upward to the next mirror
- Rewards: Witch’s Ring + Greymane’s Earring accessories, plus access to the Abyss Gate
What Is the Spire of the Sun in Crimson Desert?
The Spire of the Sun is a Spire Challenge puzzle tower located in the Forebearer’s Barrens area of the Crimson Desert region (northeast). It’s tied to Chapter 9: The Sage of the Desert, sub-chapter: Thinning Blade.
You’ll encounter it across two back-to-back main quests:
- Crossing Point (Quest 123) — you find and approach the Spire
- Unwavering Steps (Quest 124) — you solve the outdoor mirrors and climb inside
You can stumble across the Spire before Chapter 9, but the top area will be inaccessible until you reach the Unwavering Steps quest in the story.

Important: Understand the Mirror Mechanic First
Before you start moving anything, know this: mirrors can only slide along grooves in the floor. You cannot push them anywhere freely.
Look at the ground carefully. At night or with low brightness settings, the grooves can be hard to see — they look like lines on the floor. Every mirror has a defined path it can travel. If a mirror won’t move in a direction, you’re hitting the edge of its groove.
How to move mirrors:
- Push: Simply walk into the mirror block
- Pull: Use L1+Triangle (LB+Y on Xbox / Shift+Right Click on PC) to stab your sword into the block, then use the Left Stick / WASD to drag it
How to Solve Spire of the Sun Puzzle 1 (Outside, East Side)

Slightly east of the Spire, you’ll find the first set of mirrors with a blue light already bouncing off them.
Good news: most mirrors here are already in position. You only need to move one mirror — the corner one that isn’t lit up.
Step 1. Find the single unlit corner mirror that isn’t receiving the light beam.
Step 2. Push it into the correct corner position so it completes a square shape with the other mirrors.
Step 3. The light beam reflects into the crystal and redirects toward the second mirror puzzle to the south.
That’s it for Puzzle 1. Follow the light beam south to find Puzzle 2.
How to Solve Spire of the Sun Puzzle 2 (Outside, South Side)

This is the more complex outdoor puzzle. There are 5 movable mirrors — we’ll call them A, B, C, D, and E — plus a few fixed mirrors that cannot be moved.
Remember: mirrors can only slide along their floor grooves. Plan your moves within those constraints.
Step 1. Move Mirror A to the back left corner. This redirects the light onto a fixed mirror that cannot be moved.
Step 2. Move Mirror B to the top left corner. This sends the beam to the right.
Step 3. Move Mirror C to the back middle section. This reflects the light toward the right side, toward the crystal.
Step 4. Move Mirror D to the back right, right next to C. This bounces the beam to a stationary mirror on the left and sends it back toward A.
Step 5. Move Mirror E all the way to the right. This reflects the light into the last stationary mirror in the center, which then bounces the beam into the crystal.
Once the front crystal lights up, it shines onto the Spire and opens the tower door.
How to Climb the Spire of the Sun (Unwavering Steps)

With both outdoor crystals activated, the Spire of the Sun is now open. Use your Wings to fly toward the tower (Square / X / Spacebar) and enter.
Inside, the beam of light from the crystal outside already enters the tower and hits the first mirror on the staircase.
The loop is simple: interact with each mirror and aim it at the next one above.
Step 1. Find the first mirror just up the stairs. Interact with it and use the D-Pad (or directional keys on PC) to aim the beam toward the mirror up and to the left.
Step 2. Climb to the next floor. Interact with that mirror and aim it at the next mirror further up.
Step 3. Continue up the spiral stairs, repeating this with every mirror. Each one you align correctly causes the stairs to shift or extend, letting you keep climbing.
Step 4. On the top floor, aim the final mirror so the beam hits the crystal on the ceiling. When done correctly, the final staircase comes down.
Critical tip: If the beam looks like it should be connecting but isn’t registering, aim the mirror lower than you think. This is the most common mistake in the interior section. The angle often needs to be lower than your instincts suggest. Adjust the height up and down slowly until you see the beam link.
Step 5. Climb the final staircase and step onto the elevator platform. It carries you to the very top of the Spire.
Step 6. Interact with the Abyss Gate. This teleports you through the Spire’s Abyss portal.
Step 7. Immediately activate the Abyss Nexus fast travel point directly in front of you. Then head forward for a cutscene with Goyen.

Troubleshooting the Spire of the Sun
- Mirror won’t budge — you’re pushing against the edge of its groove. Look at the floor lines and try a different direction.
- Beam not hitting the crystal — one mirror is slightly off. Retrace from Mirror A and check each one is fully in its intended position, not just close to it.
- Interior beam won’t connect — aim the mirror lower. This is the most common interior mistake.
- Spire top is empty — you found the Spire early, before Chapter 9. You need to reach the Unwavering Steps quest first.
