TL;DR
- Festival Flight is the first Strand Area Denial Frame grenade launcher in Destiny 2 — it’s S-Tier for PvE and D-Tier for PvP.
- Originally a Solstice 2025 exclusive, it’s now permanently available through the Tenet of Bravery vendor at the Tower for 2 Legendary Marks per Solstice Weapon Engram.
- The top PvE god roll is Demolitionist + Elemental Honing or One For All — ability uptime plus a consistent 35% damage bonus on groups.
- The Strand build roll is Slice + Hatchling — spread Sever to every enemy hit by the pool, spawn Threadlings on rapid kills.
- Attrition Orbs was nerfed specifically on Area Denial launchers after VS Velocity Baton became an Orb printer — it’s still usable but no longer the automatic pick it once was.
- Festival Flight is not craftable — you must farm Solstice Weapon Engrams from the Tenet of Bravery until the right perks align.
- Tier 3 drops guarantee two perks per column. Tier 5 Holofoil drops give three perk options per column — the best chance at a perfect roll.
Destiny 2 Festival Flight is a Strand Area Denial Frame grenade launcher that launched during Solstice 2025. It’s the first weapon in the game to combine the Strand element with the Area Denial archetype, and its perk pool gives it enough flexibility to excel in almost any PvE build. Since Monument of Triumph, it’s permanently available from the Tower — no event timing required. This guide covers every god roll, what each perk does, how to get Festival Flight in 2026, and how it compares to the rest of the Area Denial archetype.
What Is Festival Flight in Destiny 2?
Festival Flight is a Strand Legendary Grenade Launcher using the Area Denial Frame. Area Denial grenade launchers work differently from standard tube launchers — each shot creates a lingering pool of damage on the ground that deals damage over time to any enemy that stands in it. You’re not trying to hit enemies directly. You’re controlling space, forcing enemies to either stay in the pool and take damage or move out and lose positioning.
This makes Area Denial launchers uniquely powerful in Destiny 2’s PvE content. A single shot can deal dozens of damage ticks against a stationary enemy — bosses, champions, and yellow-bar enemies that don’t dodge away can take exceptional total damage from a single round. Combined with perks like Attrition Orbs, the number of damage instances per shot makes them exceptional Orb generators even after the post-VS Velocity Baton archetype nerf.
Festival Flight is the Strand version of this archetype. Its predecessors are:
- Lost Signal – Stasis Area Denial launcher from Episode: Echoes
- VS Velocity Baton – Void Area Denial launcher from Vesper’s Host dungeon
Festival Flight has a richer perk pool than both, benefiting from a newer sandbox with more Strand-specific perks available. Its perk options span general utility, Strand synergy, and raw damage — making it the most versatile Area Denial launcher in the game in 2026.
Origin Traits: Dream Work (assists partially refill magazine) and Suros Synergy (alternate fire with this weapon and an energy weapon to reload both slightly faster).
Festival Flight Full Perk Pool
Perk 1 options:
- Demolitionist – Final blows generate grenade energy. Throwing a grenade immediately reloads the weapon from reserves. Strong in any grenade-focused build.
- Slice – Rapid precision hits sever targets. On an Area Denial launcher, the pool hit counts as rapid damage, spreading Sever to every enemy standing in it.
- Ambitious Assassin – Overflows the magazine based on number of kills before reloading. Can give you two rounds in the tube after a good chain of kills.
- Envious Arsenal – Rapidly dealing damage with other weapons overflows the magazine. Best in boss DPS rotations where you swap between multiple weapons.
- Blast Distributor – Dealing splash damage increases Grenade stat. Useful in builds where higher Grenade stat accelerates ability regeneration — pairs well with Warlocks running Starfire Protocol.
- Recycled Energy – Rapid final blows replenish class ability energy.
- Transcendent Moment – While Transcendent, this weapon deals bonus damage and becomes more stable.
Perk 2 options:
- One For All – Hitting three separate targets grants a 35% damage buff for a moderate duration. Area Denial pools easily hit multiple enemies simultaneously, making this one of the easiest perks in the game to proc on this archetype.
- Elemental Honing – Rapid kills with this weapon grant a stacking elemental damage bonus. Pairs with Strand build loops and scales well with sustained damage.
- Hatchling – Rapid final blows or precision final blows spawn a Threadling. Pairs with Demolitionist or Slice for Strand add-clear builds that want Threadling generation.
- Attrition Orbs – Dealing sustained damage creates an Orb of Power. Still useful on Area Denial launchers despite the archetype nerf — not the auto-pick it once was, but still functional at higher difficulty where enemies linger in the pool longer.
- Frenzy – Being in combat for an extended period grants bonus damage, reload speed, and handling. Low maintenance — just stay in a fight and the buff runs passively.
- Vorpal Weapon – Increased damage against bosses, vehicles, and Guardians in their Super.
- Binary Orbit – Increased handling and range while Transcendent or near teammates with a matching element.
Festival Flight PvE God Roll
Roll 1: Demolitionist + Elemental Honing (Best All-Around PvE Roll)
- Barrel: Quick Launch (Velocity + Handling) or High-Velocity Rounds (Velocity + Reload)
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Demolitionist
- Perk 2: Elemental Honing
- Origin Trait: Dream Work (team content) or Suros Synergy
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
This is the most consistent all-around PvE roll. Demolitionist gives you grenade energy on every kill — at 900 RPM tick rate, the pool hits add up quickly, generating ability energy rapidly. The instant-reload-on-grenade-throw mechanic is a force multiplier in builds where grenade uptime matters.
Elemental Honing provides a stacking Strand damage bonus on rapid kills, which scales naturally with how an Area Denial launcher operates — constant damage instances on grouped enemies. Together, these perks turn Festival Flight into an ability generation machine that also deals increasing damage the longer an encounter lasts.
Roll 2: Demolitionist + One For All (Highest Burst Damage Roll)
- Barrel: Quick Launch
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Demolitionist
- Perk 2: One For All
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
One For All grants a flat 35% damage bonus when you hit three separate enemies. An Area Denial pool that overlaps three enemies procs this perk automatically — you don’t need to aim at individuals or time anything. Drop the grenade on a group, get One For All, and every subsequent shot benefits from the damage bonus.
This roll works in any PvE build regardless of subclass. Demolitionist handles ability regeneration. One For All handles raw damage output. It’s the cleanest and most universal Festival Flight roll available.
Roll 3: Slice + Hatchling (Best Strand Synergy Roll)
- Barrel: Quick Launch or Smart Drift Control
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Slice
- Perk 2: Hatchling
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
This is the dedicated Strand build roll. Slice applies Sever to targets hit — Sever reduces enemy damage output and synergises with Strand subclass Aspects and Fragments. On an Area Denial launcher, the pool spreads Sever to every enemy standing in it simultaneously, meaning one shot can Sever an entire group without requiring precision hits.
Hatchling spawns Threadlings on rapid final blows. Area Denial pools create multiple kill credits in quick succession, triggering Hatchling reliably during add-clear encounters. Combined with Strand subclass builds on Warlock (Broodweaver), Hunter (Threadrunner), or Titan (Berserker), Festival Flight becomes a passive Threadling factory that feeds into the Strand loop.
This roll is purpose-built for dedicated Strand builds. Outside of that context, Demolitionist rolls are more universally useful.
Roll 4: Ambitious Assassin + Attrition Orbs (Team Support / Orb Generation)
- Barrel: Linear Compensator
- Magazine: High-Velocity Rounds
- Perk 1: Ambitious Assassin
- Perk 2: Attrition Orbs
- Masterwork: Reload Speed
This roll prioritises Orb generation for team content. Attrition Orbs creates Orbs of Power through sustained damage — the many ticks of an Area Denial pool proc this frequently, especially in higher difficulties where enemies stand still in the pool longer. Ambitious Assassin overflows the magazine after a chain of kills, reducing reload downtime and increasing your total pool uptime per engagement.
Note: Attrition Orbs was nerfed specifically on the Area Denial Frame archetype after VS Velocity Baton became a near-instant Orb printer. The perk is still functional but no longer outputs the absurd Orb volumes it once did. If your primary goal is Orb generation, this roll still works — just don’t expect pre-nerf VS Velocity Baton output. For most players, Demolitionist rolls are stronger in both output and versatility.
Alternative PvE Rolls Worth Keeping
Festival Flight’s perk pool is deep enough that many combinations outside the top rolls are still useful. Some worth keeping if you can’t get your first choice:
- Blast Distributor + One For All: Best for Warlock grenade builds. Blast Distributor pushes Grenade stat higher on splash hits, and with Starfire Protocol, higher Grenade stat means faster Fusion Grenade regeneration. One For All handles damage output.
- Demolitionist + Frenzy: Low-maintenance roll. Frenzy activates passively from being in combat — no proc condition needed. Pair with Demolitionist for consistent ability energy and passive damage bonus.
- Envious Arsenal + Elemental Honing: Best in DPS rotation builds where you’re actively swapping between multiple weapons. Envious Arsenal refills the magazine after rapid weapon fire, giving you a fresh tube for your next pool drop mid-rotation.
Festival Flight PvP God Roll
Area Denial Frame launchers are not competitive in the Crucible meta. Festival Flight is rated D-Tier for PvP. The archetype’s strength is area denial and sustained damage — both of which are situational and rarely decisive in PvP where players move constantly. PvP players are generally better served by Witherhoard in the Kinetic slot for grenade launcher gameplay.
If you specifically want a Festival Flight for PvP, the best available roll is:
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling (Range)
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds (Range and Stability)
- Perk 1: Blast Distributor (Grenade stat increase on splash — useful in objective-based modes)
- Perk 2: Vorpal Weapon (increased damage against Guardians in their Super) or Binary Orbit (damage bonus after kill with a non-Strand weapon)
Blast Distributor provides passive Grenade stat increases whenever you deal splash damage, which helps ability uptime in slower-paced PvP modes like Control or Zone Trials. Vorpal Weapon makes Festival Flight punishing against Guardians who pop their Supers — a situational but real PvP application. Binary Orbit is the alternative if you want consistent damage bonus from weapon swapping rather than conditional Super punish.
How to Get Festival Flight in 2026
Festival Flight was originally exclusive to the Solstice 2025 event (August 5–19, 2025). Since Monument of Triumph launched on June 9, 2026 — and all seasonal events were retired — Festival Flight moved into the permanent Tenet of Bravery vendor in the Tower. It is no longer time-gated in any way.
Step 1 – Access the Tenet of Bravery
Go to the Tower Courtyard and interact with the Monument of Triumph structure. Make any purchase from the Tenet of Bravery vendor — even the cheapest 2-Mark item counts. This unlocks all four Tenet vendors (Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice, Death). Festival Flight drops from Solstice Weapon Engrams at the Tenet of Bravery.
Step 2 – Earn Legendary Marks
Legendary Marks are the currency for all Tenet vendor purchases. Earn them by completing Monument of Triumph Triumphs. The 50 free Marks from the Monument of Triumph login bonus are a head start. Scenic spot Triumphs on destinations (visiting specific locations) are fast zero-combat Marks. See our Legendary Marks guide for the fastest accumulation methods.
Step 3 – Buy Solstice Weapon Engrams and Open Them
Each Solstice Weapon Engram costs 2 Legendary Marks. There is no weekly cap — you can buy as many as you want in a single session. Every drop comes at Tier 5 with full upgrade path support. You won’t get outdated lower-tier versions from Tenet engrams — every pull is at the current top tier.
Festival Flight is not craftable. You cannot farm a pattern and guarantee a god roll. Each engram pull is a random roll from the Solstice weapon pool. Keep buying until you land the perk combination you want.
Tier 3 drops guarantee two perks visible per column. Tier 5 Holofoil drops give three perk options per column — the maximum perk visibility that gives the best chance of hitting your target combination. Since every Tenet engram drop is already Tier 5, every pull is at this maximum tier.
Festival Flight vs Other Area Denial Launchers
The Area Denial Frame archetype has three main weapons in 2026:
- Lost Signal (Stasis) – From Episode: Echoes. Good perk pool, Stasis element useful for freeze builds. Festival Flight has a stronger and more varied perk pool due to arriving in a later sandbox.
- VS Velocity Baton (Void) – From Vesper’s Host dungeon. Was the king of the archetype before Attrition Orbs was nerfed. Still solid for Void builds with Destabilizing Rounds + Repulsor Brace combinations. Choose based on subclass element.
- Festival Flight (Strand) – Best overall perk pool of the three. Slice, Hatchling, and Elemental Honing give it Strand-specific identity that the others can’t match. If you play Strand content regularly, Festival Flight is the Area Denial launcher to prioritize.
All three are viable and the choice between them mostly comes down to which element fits your build. Festival Flight’s advantage is its newer perk pool — it has more options than Lost Signal and more Strand synergy than VS Velocity Baton. For non-Strand builds, the choice is closer and comes down to which element your specific build benefits from more.
Festival Flight pairs naturally alongside weapons like the Yeartide Apex Solar SMG in mixed-element loadouts where you want a Strand special and a Solar primary. The Suros Synergy Origin Trait rewards alternating between Festival Flight and an energy weapon, making them naturally complementary in the same loadout.
