Getting one is not guaranteed, but there are specific steps you can take to push the odds in your favour. This guide covers how the whole system works, what rewards you actually get, and the fastest farming methods available right now.
How the Destiny 2 Orders System Works
The Orders system replaced Bounties and Seasonal Challenges with the Renegades expansion. Instead of manually picking up bounties from vendors, Orders are automatically assigned when you log in and are visible directly in the Seasonal Hub.
Orders come in three tiers:
- Common Orders — the base tier. These are simple objectives that complete through normal play. Each one rewards a small amount of Bright Dust (10) and gives a chance to upgrade the next Order to Legendary.
- Legendary Orders — purple-tier tasks that require more focused effort. They reward 100 Bright Dust and give a chance to unlock an Exotic Order when completed.
- Exotic Orders — the rarest tier. These award the highest Bright Dust payouts and, most importantly, an Exotic Catalyst and an Exotic Payout. You only receive a limited number per season.
Completing any Order replaces it with a new one of the same tier, with a chance of upgrading to the next tier up. The game never gives you an Exotic Order directly from a Common Order — you must pass through Legendary first.
How to Find Your Orders in the Seasonal Hub
Open the Destinations tab in the Director and select the Seasonal Hub at the bottom of the screen. Your Active Orders appear on the left side of the menu. Just below the Order list, you will see a progress bar labelled Legendary. This meter fills as you complete Common Orders. When it is full, your next Common Order completion has a high chance of upgrading to a Legendary Order.
Once you have a Legendary Order active, complete it. Upon completion, there is a chance it upgrades to an Exotic Order. When the Exotic Order appears in the list, the task will be listed there with a gold icon.
Do not wait to claim your Payout. Exotic Order Payouts expire at the end of the season if unclaimed. Check your Seasonal Hub regularly and claim completed Payouts at the bottom of the Active Orders panel before the season closes.
What Do Exotic Orders Reward in Destiny 2
Completing an Exotic Order gives you two rewards:
- Exotic Payout — claimed from the Seasonal Hub, this delivers an Exotic Catalyst from the current reward pool. In 2026, this pool includes many of the 26 new catalysts added with Monument of Triumph, making Exotic Orders one of the best routes to complete your catalyst collection.
- Exotic Order Payout — a separate reward alongside the catalyst that includes enhanced materials and a significant Bright Dust payout (twice the Legendary Order amount).

Your First Exotic Order: Praxic Professional
The first Exotic Order any player receives is always Praxic Professional. This order tasks you with getting kills using the Praxic Blade inside any Pinnacle Ops activity — without dying. Progress resets on death.
Completing Praxic Professional rewards the Yellow colour variant for the Praxic Blade’s glow, alongside an Exotic Payout and a large XP drop.
How to Complete Praxic Professional Fast
The easiest method is to load into the Whisper Exotic Mission via Pinnacle Ops and navigate to the Thrall chamber — the large room beneath the big green-lit area midway through the mission. Taken Thrall spawn in this room infinitely. Farm kills here with the Praxic Blade until the Order completes, then simply exit the mission. You do not need to finish the Whisper mission to get the Order credit — the kills count as soon as they register.
If you prefer not to navigate Whisper, running Avalon with a Stronghold Titan also works well. The opening arenas have dense ad spawns and the Stronghold’s sword blocking keeps you alive to avoid the death-reset. Multiple runs count — as long as you do not die in between, progress carries over across separate Whisper or Avalon sessions.

How to Farm Exotic Orders Fast: Best Methods
Getting Exotic Orders is ultimately about volume — the more Common and Legendary Orders you complete, the more chances you generate for the Exotic tier to appear. Speed up that cycle with these methods.
Shuro Chi (Last Wish Raid)
The Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wish Raid is the most efficient Common Order farm in the game. The encounter spawns over 80 enemies in under a minute in a loopable arena. Load in via the Wishing Wall to jump directly to Shuro Chi without running the earlier encounters. Complete as many Common Orders as possible, let the encounter wipe you or reset it manually, and repeat.
The key benefit here is volume. Each Common Order completed ticks the Legendary progress meter and generates another roll for the rarity upgrade. Running Shuro Chi for 20–30 minutes can push through several full Common → Legendary → Exotic rarity cycles in one session.
Grasp of Avarice Starting Zone
The starting zone of the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon is a strong alternative if you prefer a dungeon setting. Dense enemy spawns in a contained area make it easy to knock out kill-based Common Orders without engaging the dungeon’s actual mechanics. Load in, farm the starting zone, reset, repeat.
Whisper Thrall Chamber
The Thrall chamber in the Whisper Exotic Mission — beneath the large green room midway through — has infinitely spawning Taken Thrall. This is the best spot for any Common Orders tied to specific kill types, melee kills, or ability kills, because you can stand in one spot and control exactly how you are killing enemies without managing a full encounter.
Expert Vanguard Ops (Private Matchmaking)
For a more natural farming loop, Expert Vanguard Ops on private matchmaking is efficient. Strikes give consistent kill volume, activity completion credit, and cover multiple Order objective types simultaneously. The downside compared to Shuro Chi is that each run takes longer — but Expert Vanguard Ops also contributes to Vanguard rank, which means Vanguard Engrams for Ferropotent armor and other Zavala focuses on the side.
How to Increase Your Chances of Getting Exotic Orders
Build the Legendary Progress Meter
The Legendary progress bar in the Seasonal Hub is the most direct lever you control. Every Common Order completed fills it. When it is full, the next Common Order completion has a very high chance of upgrading to Legendary. Keep it topped off by completing Common Orders consistently rather than letting them sit idle.
Triumphant Reward Pass: Order Rarity Boosts
If you have the paid Triumphant Rewards Pass, reaching levels 17, 27, and 37 each grants an Order Rarity Boost. Each boost permanently increases the chance that your Orders upgrade to a higher rarity on completion — so a Common Order is more likely to become Legendary, and a Legendary Order is more likely to become Exotic.
These three boosts stack. Reaching all three before actively farming Orders makes a meaningful difference in how often Exotic Orders appear. If you have the Rewards Pass, prioritise reaching those level thresholds before your main Order farm session.
Play in a Fireteam for Common Orders
Most Common Order objectives share progress across the fireteam. Your teammates’ kills and actions contribute partial progress to your Orders — you are not competing with them for individual tags. Playing in a coordinated group naturally completes Common Orders faster than solo play, generating more rarity upgrade rolls per hour.
Crucible matches also automatically complete several Orders at the end of each game, regardless of specific kill conditions. If you prefer PvP, each Crucible match is a guaranteed Common Order completion — useful for players who find PvE farms repetitive.
How to Reroll Orders You Do Not Want
You are not locked into the objective on any Order. You can reroll any active Order by spending Glimmer. The cost depends on the tier:
- Common Orders: base reroll cost is low — exact amount varies but increases with each reroll and resets as you complete more Common Orders naturally
- Legendary Orders: 8,000 Glimmer per reroll — the tier stays Legendary, only the objective changes
- Exotic Orders: 10,000 Glimmer per reroll — the tier stays Exotic, only the objective changes
If you get an Exotic Order with a painful objective — no-death kills in difficult content, specific weapon types you do not own — spend the 10,000 Glimmer to reroll it rather than struggling through an unfavourable task. The new objective is random but will be another Exotic-tier task. Keep rerolling until you land something manageable.
The same logic applies to Legendary Orders. If the task conflicts with your current build or farming location, rerolling for 8,000 Glimmer to get a different Legendary objective is more efficient than forcing a bad fit.
Exotic Orders and Exotic Catalysts in Monument of Triumph
Exotic Orders became significantly more valuable after the Monument of Triumph update in June 2026. Bungie added 26 new Exotic Catalysts and reworked nine existing ones — covering every Exotic weapon in the game for the first time. Most of these catalysts are in the general ritual drop pool, which means Exotic Orders are one of the most reliable ways to pull from that pool without RNG-dependent activity clears.
