TL;DR
- You can skip Argos’s entire setup phase in Pantheon 2.0 and jump straight into the damage phase.
- The trick involves destroying three of the four Vex nodes, then triggering the last one from a cliff ledge.
- When done correctly, you get the “Joining Allies” prompt — once the timer hits zero, Argos’s shield drops and DPS opens immediately.
- This skip works in Calus Resplendent and any Pantheon 2.0 gauntlet that includes the Argos encounter.
- If the shield doesn’t drop after Joining Allies, try emoting during the countdown or return to orbit and retry.
- Once in the damage phase, aim for the red weak spots on Argos’s body — those are the only points that take full damage.
- Spread out during DPS — Argos fires diamond tether projectiles that chain to nearby allies and disrupt the whole team.
Destiny 2 Argos instant damage is a well-known skip that lets you bypass the Vex Cranium setup phase entirely and go straight into DPS. Argos is the first boss in the Calus Resplendent Pantheon 2.0 activity, pulled from the Eater of Worlds raid lair. Normally you’d spend several minutes charging Craniums, matching elements, and dragging orbs into his barrier. This skip cuts all of that and gets your fireteam into damage immediately — making one-phase clears significantly easier.
Where to Find Argos in Destiny 2
Argos is the first encounter in Calus Resplendent, one of the Pantheon 2.0 activity nodes added permanently to Destiny 2 with the Monument of Triumph update (June 9, 2026).
To access it, open your Destinations map and go to Raids and Dungeons → Pantheon → Calus Resplendent. The activity requires a fireteam of six. Argos is encounter one, so you’ll face him immediately on load-in.
Pantheon 2.0 is a permanent activity. It does not rotate out. You can farm it any time you want for reprised Eater of Worlds weapons, Leviathan armor ornaments, Spoils of Conquest, and progress toward the Godsbane Title. For a full overview of all three Calus Resplendent bosses, see our Calus Resplendent Pantheon guide.
How the Normal Argos Damage Phase Works
Before explaining the skip, it helps to understand what you’re bypassing — and why the shortcut works.
Normally, Argos hides behind a large immune prismatic barrier. To break it and open the damage phase, your team must:
- Find and kill Malignant Hobgoblins to collect Vex Craniums
- Carry each Cranium to a matching elemental charging station — Arc, Solar, or Void
- Once charged, fire the Cranium at the matching elemental orb on Argos’s barrier and drag it toward the central circle
- All three orbs must reach the center simultaneously to break the shield
This process takes time. Quantum Mines arm if you’re too slow, Minotaurs spawn in whenever a Cranium is on a charging plate, and the whole sequence requires tight coordination. The skip removes it entirely.
In the damage phase itself, you aim for the glowing red weak spots on Argos’s body — his skin doesn’t take meaningful damage without targeting those. He also fires diamond-shaped tether projectiles during DPS. If one connects, it chains to nearby allies. Spread out across the arena to prevent the tether from wiping multiple players at once.
You have a maximum of three damage phases before Argos triggers a wipe mechanic. After his barrier drops a third time and he begins charging “Void energy rips the air,” you have 30 seconds to destroy six glowing weak points that appear in pairs on his body. If you one-phase him, none of that matters.
How to Instantly Start Damage on Argos
This is the full process for the Argos instant damage skip in Pantheon 2.0:

Step 1 – Shoot All Four Starting Vex Nodes
When you load into the Argos encounter, you’ll see a large structure in the center of the arena. It has four Vex nodes (also called Vex oracles or cranium nodes) attached to it. Shooting all four would normally trigger Argos’s spawn animation and begin the setup phase.
Instead, shoot only three of the four nodes. Leave one remaining. It does not matter which three you destroy first — pick any three and save the last one.
Do not shoot the fourth node yet. If you do, Argos activates and the normal encounter loop begins, locking you out of the skip until a wipe or reset.

Step 2 – Jump Off the Cliff to a Ledge Below
With one node remaining, turn away from the structure and walk to the edge of the platform. Jump off the cliff onto a lower ledge nearby. You’re looking for a ledge that keeps you in the encounter area — you shouldn’t die from the fall, and you should still be able to see the last Vex node from below.
The key positioning is being low enough that the game can’t fully register you as an active participant in the encounter arena above, while still staying within range to shoot the final node.
Step 3 – Shoot the Final Node from the Ledge
From your position on the lower ledge, jump up and shoot the last Vex node while airborne. Land safely back on the ledge after the shot connects.
When you destroy the fourth node from this position, Argos’s spawn animation triggers above. Because you’re on the ledge below the arena, the game treats you as separated from the encounter — triggering the “Joining Allies” text and a countdown timer on your screen.

Step 4 – Wait for the Joining Allies Timer
Once you see “Joining Allies”, do not move back up yet. Wait for the countdown to hit zero.
When the timer expires, the game teleports you back to the main platform above. At this point, Argos’s barrier is already lowered. The damage phase opens immediately — no Cranium setup required.
Rush toward Argos and start destroying his exposed red weak spots to begin dealing damage.
Step 5 – One-Phase Argos
With a fresh damage phase and no time lost to setup, your entire fireteam can unload everything immediately. Bring your best sustained DPS weapons. Linear fusion rifles, heavy grenade launchers, and coordinated super use on the weak points can delete Argos in a single phase with a prepared team.
Remember to spread out. The tether projectiles Argos fires during DPS will chain between players who are standing too close together. Each player should claim their own corner of the arena during the damage window.
Argos Instant Damage Skip – Troubleshooting
The skip doesn’t always work perfectly on the first attempt. Here’s what to do if it doesn’t fire correctly:
- Shield doesn’t drop after Joining Allies: Try emoting during the countdown timer. The emote animation sometimes forces the game to register your position correctly and triggers the shield-drop on teleport.
- Joining Allies prompt doesn’t appear: You may have been too high when you shot the final node. Return to orbit and try again with a fresh instance. Make sure you’re clearly below the arena level before taking the shot.
- Argos activated before you could reach the ledge: You accidentally shot the fourth node early. Wipe the team, restart the encounter, and be more deliberate about which three nodes you shoot first.
- The instance needs a reset: Occasionally the encounter instance bugs out and the skip won’t trigger cleanly regardless of positioning. Return to orbit, relaunch the activity, and try again.
Why This Skip Works
The Joining Allies mechanic exists to handle players who fall off the map or get too far from the encounter area. When the game detects you’re separated from the active encounter zone, it puts you into a Joining Allies state and teleports you back after a delay.
Triggering the fourth node from the ledge causes Argos to spawn while you’re technically “out of bounds” for encounter purposes. The game then respawns you into a fight that’s already past its first trigger — meaning the initial setup phase that precedes the barrier has already been bypassed by the time you land back on the platform.
Bungie has been aware of this type of mechanic exploit for a long time. It has remained in the game through the Pantheon 2.0 launch, so it’s reasonable to use it in 2026. That said, if a patch ever removes it, you’ll need to run the standard Cranium mechanic to open damage.
Argos Damage Phase – Best Weapons in 2026
Since the skip puts you directly into DPS with no warmup time, having the right loadout ready before you launch matters. You want high burst or sustained damage on a boss-sized target with moving weak spots.
- Linear Fusion Rifles — strong sustained damage with high precision potential. Finality’s Auger from Sundered Doctrine is a top option. See our Euphony guide if you’re running a Strand LFR setup.
- Rocket Launchers — Cataclysmic, Apex Predator, or any high-stat rocket with Bipod and Field Prep for quick ammo recovery between phases.
- Heavy Grenade Launchers — Cascade Point or Bait and Switch rolls for sustained damage windows.
- Supers — save them for the moment Argos’s shield drops. Golden Gun (Celestial), Blade Barrage, and Nova Bomb (Vortex) are strong choices for burst damage on weak spots.
Pantheon 2.0 uses a Shot Caller modifier across all encounters. Landing multiple precision hits with a Primary weapon increases your damage output significantly. Don’t ignore your primary during DPS — headshots contribute meaningfully to the total.
The active Surge modifier changes weekly in Custom difficulty. Check which element is buffed before you lock in your DPS loadout. Running off-element weapons wastes the multiplier entirely.
Argos Pantheon 2.0 Rewards
Clearing Argos in Pantheon 2.0 drops reprised Eater of Worlds raid weapons and armor pieces. The first clear of the week on a character drops an Adept weapon — subsequent clears drop standard versions and Spoils of Conquest.
Custom difficulty with active Feats raises the reward tier. Each Feat you stack increases challenge and guarantees better drops. Multi-boss clears in a single session also unlock a Spoils vendor for rerolls on gear you’ve already earned.
For a breakdown of all Eater of Worlds weapons and what drops where across all active raids, see our Destiny 2 raid loot tables guide.
Other Pantheon 2.0 Bosses You Can Skip or Cheese
Argos isn’t the only Pantheon 2.0 boss with a shortcut. If you’re farming the full Calus Resplendent gauntlet or the broader Pantheon 2.0 activity, there are similar tricks for other encounters:
- Morgeth — the Titan Bubble Yeet glitch lets a solo Titan cheese Morgeth with a well-timed bubble. See our Solo Morgeth Titan Bubble Yeet guide for the full process.
- Insurrection Prime — has a known cheese involving specific positioning during the activation phase. See our how to cheese Insurrection Prime guide for details.
- Morgeth Surpassing — for a full walkthrough of the second Pantheon 2.0 gauntlet, see our Morgeth Surpassing Pantheon guide.
Combining skips across all Pantheon 2.0 encounters dramatically reduces clear times, which matters when you’re farming Custom difficulty runs for maximum Spoils and Adept drops each week.
