Flockingweed is a Snezhnaya Local Specialty introduced in Genshin Impact Version 7.0 and the primary ascension material for Alyosha. The plant has a thick stalk and a turquoise, fuzzy cap, which makes it surprisingly easy to overlook against Snezhnaya’s snowy terrain. There are 74 Flockingweed nodes in Snezhnaya, and they are mostly concentrated around the central portion of the map in the Fellfrost Peak sub-region.

What Is Flockingweed Used For?

Flockingweed is currently Alyosha‘s exclusive Local Specialty ascension material. He is the only character in Genshin Impact who requires Flockingweed for ascension as of Version 7.0. Given that Snezhnaya is a new region with more characters on the way, expect this material list to grow.

You need a total of 168 Flockingweed to raise Alyosha to Level 90. A single full-world harvest is therefore not enough, so you will need to wait for the material to respawn or gather additional plants in another player’s world.

Where to Find Flockingweed in Genshin Impact

All confirmed Flockingweed nodes sit inside the Fellfrost Peak sub-region of Snezhnaya. Flockingweed grows throughout snowy areas of Snezhnaya, usually in small clusters close to roads, trees, rock formations, and slopes. The easiest way to farm it efficiently is to divide the available plants into several routes instead of searching the entire region individually.

The highest density of Flockingweed sits in the western sector of Fellfrost Peak, featuring 51 specimens distributed throughout the zone. The remaining nodes are split between Tidesong Cavern to the north, the road west of the House of Hesperides, and smaller scattered clusters along the region’s western and northwestern roads.

69 Flockingweeds are available above ground in Fellfrost Peak that you can collect without doing anything beyond the Archon Quest up to a certain point. The remaining 5 are in the cave that triggers a Meeting Point quest in the south of Snezhnaya.

Best Characters for Farming Flockingweed

Alyosha and Odette are particularly useful while searching for Snezhnaya materials because their exploration abilities can reveal nearby Local Specialties on the minimap. You can make the routes faster by adding characters with sprinting bonuses, reduced stamina consumption, or special movement abilities. Running two Anemo characters is also useful for general exploration speed.

Bring Alyosha as your active character on every farming run — his minimap passive removes the guesswork from finding scattered nodes, particularly in Fellfrost Peak’s rockier terrain. The in-game Item Tracker (accessible through the Adventurer’s Handbook) can also highlight up to three Flockingweed locations on your map at a time if Alyosha’s passive is not yet unlocked.

Flockingweed Farm Route 1 — West of Svetloledovka (33 nodes)

The largest route begins at the Teleport Waypoint near the Abandoned Shrines Domain. You can collect 33 Flockingweed along this path. This is the single most efficient stop in any farming run and should always be done first.

Starting at the waypoint, head down the stairs to find the first four plants near snow-covered roots. Continue along the slope collecting additional clusters:

• 4 more beside the next set of roots
• 4 near a fallen tree
• 2 behind the Hilichurl camp
• 1 farther down the slope
• 2 beneath a tree near the road fork

Follow the path uphill toward the Scars of Obsession Domain. A group of 5 plants grows beside the road. Move slightly off the trail for another 4, then return to the main road and continue downhill — 2 plants are hidden beneath a bush, with the final 5 behind the trees further down.

Flockingweed Farm Route 2 — Frozen Lake (13 nodes)

Start from the mountaintop Teleport Waypoint. This route contains 13 Flockingweed. Follow the path downhill until you reach the cliff edge, where the first 3 plants are located. From there, glide toward the Cryo Statue of The Seven and collect 2 plants, drop onto the smaller ledge below for another 2, continue down toward the river and pick up 2 beside the fallen tree, then cross to the opposite side of the lake to collect the final 4.

Flockingweed Farm Route 3 — Northwest of House of Hesperides (9 nodes)

Teleport to the road northwest of the House of Hesperides. This short route contains 9 plants. Turn right from the waypoint and walk forward to find a cluster of 3. Turn back toward the opposite side for another 2, then follow the road downhill. The final 4 plants can be found on the right side of the path.

This garden zone holds 9 Flockingweed plants adjacent to the western trail approaching the estate. It offers a condensed area for quick retrieval.

Flockingweed Farm Route 4 — Tidesong Cavern (14 nodes)

Positioned north of Central Station, Tidesong Cavern houses 14 Flockingweed specimens overall. Exactly nine rest outdoors on the coastal extremity, while five are tucked away inside the grotto. Keep in mind that entering the cavern demands activating the Tidesong Cavern Meeting Point, which is tied directly to the Everwinter Without Mercy Act 1 Archon Quest.

Head toward the cave from the nearby Teleport Waypoint. Four plants grow beside the first pile of rocks. Move slightly to the right to find another 2. Continue toward the second rock formation for 3 more. Enter the cave and continue forward — 2 plants are located on the right shortly after entering, and the final 3 grow deeper inside the cave.

Additional Flockingweed Clusters

Beyond the four main routes, Flockingweed can be found in several smaller clusters throughout the surrounding area, including the Icy Chasm (several nodes around and inside), western and northwestern roads (multiple scattered nodes), and a canyon overlooking the central area with additional roadside spawns.

These isolated plants are worth picking up when passing through but do not justify a dedicated detour on their own — fold them into whichever main route you are running nearest to them.

Flockingweed Respawn Time

Flockingweed respawns approximately 48 hours after being collected, following the standard respawn cycle used by most regional Local Specialties. If you need more before your own world’s plants return, you can join another player’s world in co-op and ask permission to collect theirs.

Since 74 plants per cycle falls well short of the 168 needed for full ascension, start running the route as soon as you unlock Fellfrost Peak. The 48-hour respawn means you need multiple farming runs, so early starts matter.

Running the route on day one, then again 48 hours later, then again at 96 hours gives you 222 plants — enough to fully ascend Alyosha with room to spare without needing to use co-op worlds.

Can You Buy Flockingweed?

There is currently no reliably confirmed permanent NPC vendor selling Flockingweed, so gathering it in the open world remains the main repeatable source.

A small amount can typically be obtained through Alyosha’s banner Test Run as a one-time reward, which is useful for covering his earliest ascension phases before your first farming run is complete. Regular open-world collection is the only scalable method.

Three methods work well for identifying uncollected nodes. The first is Alyosha’s exploration passive, which highlights nearby Local Specialties on your minimap as you move through the area — the most convenient in-practice option. The second is the in-game Item Tracker in the Adventurer’s Handbook, which marks up to three nearby Flockingweed locations on the overworld map at a time.
