Fortnite Runners Frosted Flats Guide: Epic Sprite Vault, Chests and Secrets

    • Frosted Flats is in the north of the Shattered Coast, built on the ruins of the Ice King’s Fortress with FrosDeez ice cream buildings and icy terrain.
    • The POI holds one of only two Epic Sprite Vaults on the entire map — underground on the east side beneath the FrosDeez building.
    • The Epic Sprite Vault contains 3 guaranteed Sprite Chests plus Rare Chests and supply crates — no spawn RNG, every match.
    • Access requires an Epic Vault Keycard, which drops randomly from chests with a higher chance from Rare Chests.
    • There are also 2 open Sprite Chests at the POI level plus a third at the mountain summit north of Frosted Flats near a launch pad.
    • Frosted Flats is significantly less contested than the other Epic Sprite Vault location at Sinister Strip.
    • Bosses rotate through the area — check your minimap for skull icons while you loot the POI.

Frosted Flats is one of the most valuable POIs in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 Runners, and one of the most underutilised. It holds one of only two Epic Sprite Vaults on the Shattered Coast — the underground bunker beneath the FrosDeez building that contains three guaranteed Sprite Chests every single match, with no spawn RNG. That makes it the single highest-reliability source of Sprites outside of Sinister Strip, with far less competition at the door.

This guide covers exactly where Frosted Flats is, every Sprite Chest location at and around the POI, how to find and open the Epic Sprite Vault, what’s inside, and how to run Frosted Flats efficiently every match.

Where Is Frosted Flats in Fortnite Runners?

Frosted Flats sits in the northern section of the Shattered Coast map, positioned close to the exposed Zero Point at the center of the island. It’s one of the few POIs with direct proximity to both the map’s central landmark and the northern terrain — giving you natural rotation paths both inward toward the Zero Point and outward toward the northwest snow biome where Lifty Lodge sits.

On the map, look for the named location label in the north, between Lifty Lodge to the northwest and The Battlewoods to the south. The POI sits on icy, snow-covered terrain and features the visible remains of the Ice King’s Fortress from the Golden Coast season alongside the newer FrosDeez commercial buildings that occupy the ruins.

What Is Frosted Flats in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3?

Frosted Flats is a new POI added on June 6, 2026 with the Chapter 7 Season 3 launch. According to the Fortnite Wiki, it is a town themed around the Ice King, built directly on the ruins of Frigid Fortress — the Ice King’s castle from the Golden Coast. The fortress itself is gone following the Chapter 7 Shattered live event, but its ruins remain visible beneath and around the newer structures.

The POI is defined by two visual anchors: the crumbling stonework of the old Fortress integrated into the landscape, and the FrosDeez ice cream and slushy parlor buildings that now occupy the area. FrosDeez is a returning brand from previous Fortnite chapters. Players who played Chapter 6 will recognise the storefront. The contrast between ancient icy fortress ruins and a cheerful ice cream shop gives Frosted Flats one of the more distinctive aesthetics on the Shattered Coast.

The POI has solid overall chest density across its buildings, boss spawns that rotate through the area, and the underground Epic Sprite Vault that makes it one of the highest-value drops on the map.

All Sprite Chest Locations at Frosted Flats

Frosted Flats and its immediate surrounding area offer up to 5 Sprite Chests per match if you hold an Epic Vault Keycard — 2 open-world spawns in the POI, 1 at the mountain summit to the north, and 3 guaranteed inside the vault. Here is the breakdown:

Open-World Sprite Chest Spawns (2 locations, RNG)

Two Sprite Chest spawn points are distributed across the main Frosted Flats POI. These appear randomly — they don’t guarantee a chest every match. Check both on every drop:

    • Within the POI buildings — the FrosDeez building and surrounding structures house the primary spawn points. Look in and around the main commercial buildings on the east and central sections of the POI.
    • Outer POI edges — additional spawn coverage exists toward the perimeter of Frosted Flats, especially near the former Fortress ruins structures.

Enable Visualized Sound Effects before dropping to detect these by audio. The distinctive Sprite Chest sound plays when you’re in range — you can hear them through walls and floors before you have visual confirmation.

Mountain Summit North of Frosted Flats (1 location, RNG)

A third Sprite Chest spawn exists on the mountain summit northeast of Frosted Flats, near a launch pad at the top. This spawn is technically outside the named POI boundary but is part of the Frosted Flats loot run.

After clearing the main POI, head northeast and climb the mountain. Check the summit for the chest alongside the launch pad. If the chest is there, open it and use the launch pad to glide south toward the Zero Point or east toward Wonkeeland to continue your rotation. This also connects to the northern Sprite farming route covered in the Wonkeeland guide.

Epic Sprite Vault — 3 Guaranteed Sprite Chests (no RNG)

The vault is the headline loot source at Frosted Flats. Three Sprite Chests inside, every match, with no spawn variation. If you open the vault, you always get all three. This is covered in full detail below.

The Frosted Flats Epic Sprite Vault — Full Guide

    Where Is the Vault?

The Frosted Flats Epic Sprite Vault — also called the Frosted Flats Bunker — is underground on the east side of the POI, beneath the FrosDeez ice cream and slushy parlor building. The FrosDeez storefront is your landmark. Find it on the east side of Frosted Flats, then look for the ladder entrance on the exterior of the building. The ladder takes you below ground level into the vault corridor.

The vault is underground and therefore not visible from street level. If you arrive at the FrosDeez building and see no door, look for the ladder — it’s the access point, not a standard interactable vault door at ground level.

    What Key Do You Need?

The Frosted Flats Epic Sprite Vault requires an Epic Vault Keycard. This is a different item from the standard Rare Vault Key that opens the six smaller vaults around the map. Epic Vault Keycards are significantly rarer.

Epic Vault Keycards drop randomly from any chest, with Rare Chests offering the highest drop chance. There are no fixed NPC vendors or guaranteed floor spawns for keycards this season — it’s entirely RNG from the loot pool. When you pick up an Epic Vault Keycard, the game marks the nearest available Epic Sprite Vault on your minimap — either Frosted Flats or Sinister Strip.

If your keycard produces no marker when picked up, both Epic Sprite Vaults have already been opened by other squads in that match. In this case, the keycard has no use — drop it and continue your loot run.

How to Get Epic Vault Keycards Faster

    • Open every Rare Chest you find — these have a meaningfully higher Epic Keycard drop rate than standard chests. Rare Chests have the blue glowing lid design.
    • Drop with a full squad — four players looting simultaneously cover far more chests in the first two minutes than a solo player, multiplying the team’s collective odds of pulling a keycard.
    • Route near Frosted Flats early — since the vault is here, looting the POI itself gives you a chance to find the keycard at the same location as the vault. A keycard found inside the POI means zero travel time to use it.
    • Check standard vault chests for secondary keycards — Rare Vault contents occasionally include an Epic Vault Keycard inside. If you open a standard vault and find one, chain directly to the Frosted Flats Epic Vault in the same match. This is rare but happens.

What’s Inside the Frosted Flats Epic Sprite Vault?

The Epic Sprite Vault at Frosted Flats contains the same contents every match:

    • 3 Sprite Chests — guaranteed, every match, no RNG. Each guarantees a Sprite drop.
    • Rare Chests — high-rarity weapon and loot sources.
    • Supply crates — additional loot.
    • Slurp Barrels — HP and Shield restore before you rotate out.

Three guaranteed Sprite Chests in a single location is the highest single-run Sprite density in the entire game outside of the equivalent Sinister Strip vault. This is your best path to rare Sprites including the Zero Point Sprite, Legendary Gummy Sprites, and Galaxy Sprites. The Gummy Punk and Gummy Zero Point variants are locked exclusively to high-tier Vault Sprite Chests inside Epic Vaults — you cannot find them from open-world Sprite Chests at all.

Frosted Flats vs Sinister Strip Epic Sprite Vault — Which to Choose?

Both Epic Sprite Vaults contain identical loot. The practical difference is competition level:

    • Sinister Strip — the highest-traffic POI on the Shattered Coast. The Mythic Limitless Seven Sliders, boss enemies, the prison cell secret, and the Epic Sprite Vault all converge in one location. The Sinister Strip vault is contested every match. You will fight for it.
    • Frosted Flats — northern map position, away from central fighting. Far fewer squads drop here specifically for the vault. If you have an Epic Keycard and the Frosted Flats vault is available, reaching it is significantly safer than the equivalent Sinister Strip run.

The Frosted Flats vault is the correct choice whenever you have an Epic Keycard and can reach it before the storm forces you south. For players who want the three guaranteed Sprite Chests without a 50/50 fight at the vault door, Frosted Flats is the right call every time.

The one scenario to choose Sinister Strip instead: if you’re already at Sinister Strip and the vault there is closer than Frosted Flats when you acquire your keycard. Map position determines which vault makes sense — don’t cross the entire map to reach Frosted Flats if you’re already in the center.

    Boss Spawns at Frosted Flats

Bosses rotate through the Frosted Flats area during matches. The skull icon that marks a boss NPC on your minimap can appear in this zone while you’re looting, giving you an opportunity to engage for Mythic weapon drops and Gold on top of your regular loot run.

Boss fights at Frosted Flats carry real risk during the early looting phase when your loadout is still incomplete. Only engage if you have shields, a strong weapon, and an exit plan. The icy open terrain around the former Fortress ruins provides limited natural cover — avoid open-ground fights unless you have the positioning advantage.

If a boss appears while you’re inside the FrosDeez building heading to the vault, clear the exterior first. Enemies tracking you into the vault corridor while you’re opening chests is one of the worst situations at this POI. Clear then loot, in that order.

    Frosted Flats Extraction Site

The Extraction Site near Frosted Flats is the natural endpoint for any loot run here. After clearing the open Sprite Chests, opening the vault if you had a keycard, and collecting your Sprites, head to the Extraction Site to bank before rotating.

The Extraction Site activates after the first storm circle closes — don’t rush it immediately on drop. Time your extraction so you’re ready to extract by the time the site unlocks, then rotate south toward the Zero Point area or southeast toward The Battlewoods depending on where the circle is forming.

Always carry a Portable Extractor when leaving Frosted Flats with a rare Sprite from the vault. The three vault Sprite Chests can drop very rare Sprites. Using a Portable Extractor anywhere on the map is far safer than walking to the public Extraction Site with a Mythic or Legendary Sprite on your back.

Frosted Flats Loot Route — Best Match Plan

Here is the optimal Frosted Flats drop sequence for maximising Sprite Chests per match:

    • Drop east first — land near the FrosDeez building on the east side of the POI. This is where the vault ladder entry is and where open Sprite Chest spawns are likely. Grab whatever chest and weapon loot is available immediately.
    • Check for a keycard — open every chest you can in the first 60 seconds. Rare Chests give you the best shot at an Epic Vault Keycard. If you find one, the vault appears on your minimap.
    • Clear the POI level — collect both open Sprite Chest spawns. If a boss is present, assess whether to engage based on your current loadout.
    • Enter the vault if you have a keycard — find the ladder on the FrosDeez building exterior, head down, interact with the vault door, and open all three Sprite Chests plus the Rare Chests inside. Use the Slurp Barrels to refill before climbing back out.
    • Head north to the mountain summit — check the Sprite Chest spawn near the launch pad northeast of the POI. If the chest is there, open it and use the pad for a fast glide into your rotation.
    • Extract at the nearby Extraction Site — bank your Sprites after the first circle closes before heading south.

A full Frosted Flats clear with an Epic Keycard gives you up to 5 Sprite Chests in a single match — 2 open POI spawns + 3 vault guaranteed. That’s the most Sprites you can realistically collect from a single landing zone in Chapter 7 Season 3 without also running a full Sprite farming route. For the multi-POI route, see the best Sprite loot path guide.
