Portable Extractor — How It Works in Fortnite Runners
The Portable Extractor is the most important Gizmo in Fortnite Runners. It creates a personal extraction point wherever you’re standing, letting you bank a Sprite without ever going near a public Extraction Site.

How to Use the Portable Extractor (All Platforms)
- Find and equip a Sprite during your match.
- Hold Triangle (PS5) / Y (Xbox) to equip the Portable Extractor into your pickaxe slot.

Don’t waste Portable Extractors on common Sprites. Earth, Water, and Fire Sprites are Rare-tier and easy to find again. Save your Extractors for:

- Any Galaxy, Gold, or Gummy variant regardless of base rarity.
- Situations where you’re being hunted and cannot safely reach an Extraction Site.

How to Get More Portable Extractors in Fortnite
There are four ways to get Portable Extractors in Chapter 7 Season 3:

Lucky Locator — How It Works in Fortnite Runners
The Lucky Locator is the second Extraction Gizmo. It tracks down a buried chest that is guaranteed to contain a Sprite you have not yet collected. This is a targeted tool for completing your full Sprite collection.
When you use a Lucky Locator, it points you toward a buried Sprite chest on the current map. That chest is guaranteed to hold something new for your collection — not a duplicate. This makes it significantly more efficient than opening random Sprite Chests and hoping for the right drop.
The Lucky Locator doesn’t increase the rarity of what you find — it just ensures the chest contains a Sprite variant you’re missing. If you need a rare Sprite you haven’t collected yet, this is the most direct path to it outside of the RNG loot pool.
Best Time to Use a Lucky Locator
- When your collection is nearly complete and you’re hunting one or two specific Sprites.

Extraction Site Booster — How It Works in Fortnite Runners
The Extraction Site Booster is the third Gizmo. It calls in a special Extraction Crate that boosts any Sprite extracted within its zone. Based on Epic’s description, it speeds up the leveling of Sprites extracted at that site, which helps push Sprites toward Max Level faster.
There is a major trade-off. Using the Extraction Site Booster draws other players’ attention. Epic’s own patch notes flag this directly. The boosted crate is visible to nearby squads, and anyone who wants those rewards — or wants to steal your Sprite — will come running.
How to Use the Extraction Site Booster Safely
- Only activate it when you have squad backup holding the perimeter.
- Use it in a match where the circle has already thinned out the player count.
- Don’t use it while carrying a rare Sprite you haven’t yet secured — get that Sprite out with a Portable Extractor first, then boost a second Sprite at the site.
