What are Sprites in Fortnite Runners

Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 are collectible companion creatures that float alongside you in a match and grant a passive ability. They were first introduced in Chapter 6 Season 1, but Runners completely rebuilds the system. Sprites are now permanent collectibles. Find one in a match, extract it at an Extraction Site, and it is added to your Sprite Collection. You can then summon collected Sprites in future matches by spending Sprite Dust.

If you die with an unextracted Sprite equipped, you lose it. Any player who eliminates you can pick it up and extract it themselves. That risk is what makes the extraction part of Runners feel like an actual game mode within the game.

Every Sprite has three levels during a match. The ability grows stronger as it levels up through exploration, eliminations, and extraction attempts. Getting a Sprite to max level and then successfully extracting it marks it as Mastered in your collection. Mastered Sprites can be displayed in your Sprite Pod Back Bling — a cosmetic slot that permanently shows off which Sprites you have fully completed.

Every Sprite sits in one of four rarity tiers. Rarity affects how often you see them drop and how much Sprite Dust they cost to summon:

• Rare (Water, Earth, Fire) — Base drop rate approximately 13.92%. Costs 100 Sprite Dust to summon. Gold and Gummy variants cost 4,000 Dust.
• Epic (Duck, Ghost, King, Demon) — Base drop rate approximately 5.22%. Costs 3,000 Sprite Dust. Gold and Gummy variants cost 6,000 Dust.
• Legendary (Dream, Punk) — Base drop rate approximately 2.44%. Costs 5,000 Sprite Dust. Gold and Gummy variants cost 10,000 Dust.
• Mythic (Zero Point, Burnt Peanut) — Base drop rate approximately 1% to 1.5%. Costs 7,500 Sprite Dust. Gold and Gummy variants cost 15,000 Dust.

Drop rates come from community datamining. Epic does not publish official figures. Treat them as close estimates rather than confirmed numbers. They can also change with hotfixes and weekly Sprite events.

Water Sprite (Rare)

Replenishes shields while you are in water, and extends the effect to nearby squad members. Useful on the Shattered Coast’s coastal POIs where water paths are common. Running the Sprite Dust guide alongside this one helps you plan how much Dust to reserve for summoning after extractions.

Earth Sprite (Rare)

Gives you a chance to find additional rare items when opening chests. The loot quality bonus stacks with the natural RNG of the chest itself. This is the recommended starting Sprite for new players. Fire Sprite (Rare)

Creates a fiery burst when you deal enough damage to an enemy. Strong for aggressive players who push fights early. The best Epic-rarity pick if you do not have a Mythic Sprite yet. It punishes close-range fights and works well paired with shotguns.

Duck Sprite (Epic)

Replenishes shields when you emote or jam. This sounds niche, but emoting to heal mid-match means you carry fewer shield items, freeing up inventory slots for weapons or extra ammo. Worth considering if you lean toward a passive playstyle. The Duck Sprite is also thematically tied to the Cluster Coast POI, home of Cluster the duck.

Ghost Sprite (Epic)

Grants cloak for a short duration when you reload. The cloak window is brief but consistent — every reload triggers it. This is a strong defensive tool in Zero Build lobbies where repositioning after firing is dangerous. Competitive players rank this highly for stealth flanks. The Gummy Ghost Sprite only spawns during the nighttime cycle in a match — time your farming sessions around the in-game day cycle if you want that variant specifically.

King Sprite (Epic)

Your Pickaxe deals more damage. This Sprite becomes much stronger if the damage applies to structures, which would let you break enemy cover faster. That has not been fully confirmed as of June 2026. Monitor patch notes if this detail matters to your loadout. Outside of structure damage, the King Sprite is the niche pick of the Epic tier.

Demon Sprite (Epic)

Siphons health and shields when you eliminate an opponent. Siphon is one of the most powerful mechanics in competitive Fortnite because it removes the need to stop and heal after a fight. The Demon Sprite is the strongest Epic-tier option for aggressive players who chain eliminations. It pairs naturally with high-damage weapons. Dream Sprite (Legendary)

Grants a random item at each level. At Max Level, it explodes with Legendary loot. This is the gambler’s pick — you get nothing guaranteed until you hit level thresholds, but the Max Level reward can produce some of the best loot available in a match. High risk, high ceiling.

Punk Sprite (Legendary)

Epic’s official description is: “Possibly nothing… or infinitely something.” This is not an oversight — it is intentional. The Punk Sprite’s ability is currently designed as a mystery. Some matches it may do nothing. Others, the effect could be significant. Avoid building a strategy around the Punk Sprite until its full behavior is confirmed through player testing or an Epic update. That said, its Legendary rarity means it is still a collection target even if the ability stays unpredictable.

Zero Point Sprite (Mythic)

Spawns a Shield Bubble Jr. around you whenever you use a healing item on yourself — Chug Jug, Med Kit, Shield Potion, and similar items all trigger it. The bubble blocks bullets and explosives while you heal. It does not trigger on splash heals or grenade-type items. Duration starts at 6 seconds and increases by 1 second per level up, reaching 10 seconds at Max Level.

The Zero Point Sprite is the strongest Sprite in Fortnite Runners for Zero Build. Without structures to hide behind, having an automatic dome every time you heal changes how fights play out at the end of a match.

There is no fixed spawn location. It drops from Sprite Chests and can occasionally be found wandering near the Zero Point itself. Burnt Peanut Sprite (Mythic)

Gives you a chance to find more loot when eliminating players, scaling up with each level. The loot bonus starts at 20% at level 1 and reaches 60% plus a 10% Mythic loot chance at Max Level. This makes it the best Sprite for loot-focused runs and supply grinding late-season.

The Burnt Peanut Sprite does not spawn in bot lobbies. It drops from Sprite Chests in real player lobbies only, at approximately a 1.5% chance (1 in 67). It is the only Sprite with no Gummy variant. Gold Sprites and Gummy Sprites — what they do

Gold Sprites

Every Sprite type has a Gold variant. Gold Sprites keep the base ability of the original Sprite and add one extra effect: bonus XP from eliminations. The bonus is substantial — stacking a Gold Sprite with a Victory Royale Crown can push a single elimination past 1,600 XP. Gummy Sprites

Gummy Sprites also keep the base ability but add a different bonus: 10% more Sprite Dust on extraction. That Dust bonus stacks across every extraction you do with a Gummy equipped, which adds up significantly if you are farming to buy back lost Sprites or unlock higher-rarity summons. How to find Sprites in Fortnite Runners

Sprites appear through several sources in a match:

• Sprite Chests — these always drop a Sprite. They are the most reliable source. Sprite Chests emit a distinctive sound when you are nearby, similar to old Chapter 2 Vault Chests. They appear at POIs across the Shattered Coast and inside Vaults.
• Regular Chests and Rare Chests — Sprites can drop from these but are not guaranteed. Rare Chests have better odds than standard ones.
• Supply Drops — higher chance than floor loot or standard chests.
• Wandering in the world — Sprites can appear as free-roaming creatures at random map locations. The Zero Point Sprite occasionally wanders near the Zero Point itself.
• Eliminated players — if someone dies with an unextracted Sprite, it drops for anyone to pick up.
• Sprite Collection (pre-match) — once you have extracted a Sprite, you can summon it before dropping by spending Sprite Dust in the Collection tab.

When to farm Sprites — Mastery Monday explained

Every Monday in Fortnite Runners, Epic activates a Mastery Monday event from 9 AM ET for 24 hours. During this window, Legendary and Mythic Sprite drop rates from Sprite Chests are boosted above normal. Sprite XP and Sprite Dust from extractions also double.

If your goal is the Zero Point Sprite, Dream Sprite, or Punk Sprite, Monday is the only window where farming those makes statistical sense. How to extract Sprites and bank them permanently

Finding a Sprite does not lock it in your collection. You have to extract it first. Here is how extraction works:

• Pick up the Sprite by pressing the interact button. It equips to your back and its ability activates immediately.
• Find an Extraction Site on the map. These activate after the first storm circle closes — do not rush them too early.
• Interact with the terminal and wait for the extraction timer to complete while defending your position.
• If you are eliminated before the timer finishes, the Sprite drops and any player can steal it.
• You can also use a Portable Extractor — a consumable that extracts your Sprite in 5 seconds without needing a fixed site. Use this immediately if you find a Mythic Sprite to avoid risking it at a contested Extraction Site.

Which Sprites are worth going after first

Start with the three Rare Sprites — Water, Earth, and Fire. They cost only 100 Sprite Dust to summon, drop the most often at around 13.9%, and between them cover healing, looting, and aggression. They are the foundation of any Sprite collection in 2026.

From there, move to Demon at Epic rarity. Siphon is the most consistently useful ability in the game regardless of playstyle. Ghost is the second Epic target if you value stealth or Zero Build positioning.

At Mythic, Zero Point is the priority if you play Zero Build. Burnt Peanut is the priority if you want loot density and the Guardian skin pilot unlock.
