Forza Horizon 6 is set in Japan and packed with things to do. But one feature many players overlook early on is the home space customization system. This lets you turn your in-game houses and garages into personal showrooms, creative workshops, or anything else you want.

What Is Home Space Customization in Forza Horizon 6?
In FH6, every player house comes with a fully customizable garage attached to it. This is a big step up from older Forza Horizon games, where houses were mostly just fast travel points with basic perks.
Now, each house has its own interior space that you can fill with props, set up car displays, and share with the community. You can even earn credits from your designs if other players download them.
On top of the garage system, there is also The Estate — a huge open build zone that uses the full EventLab toolset. Think of it as your personal world-building canvas inside Japan.

How to Access Garage Customization
Getting started is simple. Here is how to do it step by step:
- Go to any house you own on the map.
- Open the house menu and navigate to the Customizable Garage tab at the top.
- Select Customize Garage from the options listed.
- You will enter a free camera mode where you can freely move around and place props.
That’s all it takes. From here, you are in full control of your space.
Placing Props and Decorating Your Garage
Once inside the customization mode, you will see a library of props to choose from. These include furniture pieces, workbenches, neon signs, tire racks, tool chests, and much more.
You can scale props up or down, rotate them freely, and position them anywhere on the floor, walls, or even the ceiling. The free camera gives you complete control over every angle.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Each prop costs credits to place, so have some saved up before you start decorating.
- If you remove a prop, you get its full credit value back — so there is no risk in experimenting.
- There is a prop limit per garage, so plan your layout before spending big.
- To remove a single prop, just hover over it and delete it manually.
- To wipe the whole garage clean at once, go to Browse & Manage and choose Empty My Garage.

How to Display Cars in Your Garage
One of the best parts of garage customization is showing off your favorite cars inside the space. Here is how it works:
- You can display up to four cars in your garage at once.
- To activate the extra car slots, you need to manually place Car Display Locators using the customization tools. The game gives you the slots by default, but they only work once you place the locators.
- One of your displayed cars will support full ForzaVista functionality — meaning you can walk around it, open doors, and inspect it up close.
- To choose which cars appear in your garage, use the Display Cars option and pick from your collection.

Setting Your Character Pose
When visitors come to your garage, your character will appear in a specific spot. You can choose exactly where your avatar stands and what pose they strike. This is a small detail, but it adds a lot of personality to the space — especially if you share your garage with the community.
Sharing Your Garage Layout with the Community
This is where things get really interesting. After you finish decorating your garage, you can share the layout with the entire Forza Horizon 6 community using a share code.
Other players can then find your layout, download it, and apply it to any of their own garages. When they do, you earn credits automatically. It is a passive income loop that rewards creativity and good design.

Downloading Community Garage Layouts
If building from scratch is not your thing, that is completely fine. Forza Horizon 6 has a large library of community-made layouts you can browse and download instantly.
Here is how to find them:
- Go to any house you own and open the Customizable Garage tab.
- Select Browse & Manage.
- Click on Browse Community Garages.
- Filter by category to find the style you like — clean showroom, workshop, Japanese-themed, and more.
- Apply the layout you like. Note: applying a downloaded layout costs credits, as you pay for the props used in the design.
This is a great way to get a stunning garage without spending hours placing individual props.
Visitor Permissions — Who Can See Your Garage
Once your garage is ready, you can control who gets to visit it. Look for the Visitor Permission toggle in the settings and flip it from Closed to Open. This lets other players visit your space when you are the session leader.
Opening your garage to visitors also helps you get more downloads on your shared layout, which means more passive credits for you over time.
How Many Garages Can You Customize?
There are eight player houses in Forza Horizon 6, starting with Mei’s House that you get right at the beginning of the game. Every single house comes with its own separate, fully customizable garage.
That means you have eight individual spaces to theme and decorate however you want. Many players use this to organize their car collection by type — JDM cars in one house, race cars in another, hypercars in a third.
Houses are unlocked through the Discover Japan Stamps system, so make sure you are progressing through the stamps to open new properties.
What Is The Estate in Forza Horizon 6?
The Estate is a completely different experience from the standard garage. It is a vast open build zone set in a mountain valley, completely empty when you first unlock it.
Using the upgraded EventLab toolset, you can fill The Estate with almost anything you can imagine:
- Urban streets and city blocks
- Forest retreats and scenic lookouts
- Custom race tracks and drift zones
- Stunt parks and ramp setups
- Private festival grounds and car meet spaces
Whatever you build in The Estate is permanent. It stays in your world and can be visited by friends when you are leading a session.
Just like garages, Estate designs can be shared and downloaded by other players via the Estate Browser. You can also download and explore Estates built by other players for inspiration or to use directly.
How to Unlock The Estate
The Estate is not available from the very start of the game. You need some early progression first. One house connected to The Estate is the Yashiki House in the western Hokubu region, which gives you access to the Estate build zone once purchased.
The estate itself costs around 10,000 CR, making it one of the best-value purchases in the game. For that price, you get a full personal EventLab playground — far more than a standard garage.
Before you get full access, you may need to clear a blocked road near the property. It is a small task but gives the whole unlock a satisfying feel — like you are actually claiming and restoring the land.

What You Can Build on The Estate
The Estate uses the full EventLab World Builder toolset. Here are some popular ideas that the community has been creating:
- Drift zones — place drift zone start and end gates, line corners with tyre stacks and light poles, and use smooth asphalt modules for consistent slides.
- Race circuits — the mountain valley gives plenty of room for technical circuits or high-speed tracks.
- Stunt parks — ramps, smashables, and obstacles for chaotic fun.
- Car meet areas — scenic spaces where friends can park and show off cars.
- Multiplayer zones — since The Estate is persistent and visitable, it works perfectly for social sessions.

Horizon CoLab — Multiplayer Building in EventLab
Horizon CoLab is a brand-new feature that brings multiplayer building to EventLab for the first time in the Forza Horizon series.
Up to 12 players can join a CoLab session and build together in the open world of Japan in real time. You can create complex race events, scatter ramps and obstacles across the world, or design full community experiences together.
One important thing to note: Horizon CoLab does not support Customizable Garages or The Estate. Those are solo building only. CoLab is specifically for building EventLab content out in the open world.

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Home Space Customization
Plan Before You Spend
Since placing props costs credits, think through your layout before you start buying. Decide on a theme first — workshop, luxury showroom, Japanese aesthetic — and then pick props that match. This saves you from placing and removing props repeatedly.
Use Eight Garages for Organization
If you own multiple houses, give each garage a different theme to organize your car collection. For example, put your classic Japanese cars in one space, your off-road and dirt cars in another, and your S and X class hypercars in a third. It makes the collection feel more alive and easier to navigate.
Download Community Layouts First
Before you spend hours building from scratch, browse community garages to see what is possible. It gives you ideas and saves time if you find a layout you love. Just remember that applying it costs credits.
Share Your Best Work
If you put real effort into a garage layout, publish it. Every download earns you credits passively, which means your creativity literally pays off over time. The more unique and high-quality your layout, the more it will get shared.
Buy The Estate Early
At 10,000 CR, The Estate is one of the cheapest purchases in the game and one of the most rewarding. Even if you don’t plan to build a massive race track right away, having the space available for when you’re ready is worth it.
