Every car in Forza Horizon 6 has a Performance Index (PI) number. That PI number determines what class the car belongs to. Classes group cars together so races stay competitive. Events cap at a specific class, which means you build a car to fill that class ceiling as efficiently as possible.
Here is the full class breakdown in FH6:
- D Class – PI up to 500. Slow, light, and fun. Classic kei cars, vintage economy sports, novelty vehicles.
- C Class – PI 501 to 600. Budget sports, vintage classics, entry-level performance.
- B Class – PI 601 to 700. Hot hatches, classic muscle, rally cars, JDM tuners.
- A Class – PI 701 to 800. Sports cars and performance sedans. The workhorse class for most mid-game events.
- S1 Class – PI 801 to 900. High-end supercars. The most populated high-performance class.
- S2 Class – PI 901 to 998. Hypercars and extreme builds. Top speeds regularly exceed 250 mph with tuning.
- R Class – PI above 998. Brand new in FH6. Track-only race machines, prototypes, and factory race cars. Not road-legal production cars.

How to Get Cars in Forza Horizon 6
Not all of FH6’s 550+ cars are bought from the Autoshow. There are several ways to add cars to your garage:
- Autoshow: The main in-game dealership. The majority of base-game cars are available here for credits. Around 360 of the confirmed cars can be purchased this way.
- Wheelspins & Super Wheelspins: Random car rewards earned by levelling up, completing events, and spending Skill Points. Some rare cars are Wheelspin-only.
- Barn Finds: 15 hidden cars scattered across Japan’s map. Unlocked through exploration and Discover Japan Stamps.
- Treasure Cars: New in FH6. Japanese cars hidden in each of the game’s regions, found via photo clues on the map.
- Seasonal Festival Playlist: Time-limited event rewards. Some cars are only available during specific seasons and are permanently missed if you skip them.
- Loyalty Rewards: Free cars for players with save files from previous Forza games, claimed after completing the intro race.
- Forza Edition Cars: Heavily modified variants with extreme performance boosts. Usually Wheelspin-only.
- DLC Packs: Welcome Pack, VIP Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, and pre-order bonus cars.

D Class is the slowest class in FH6. These are vintage economy cars, kei cars, classic novelties, and ultra-light sports cars from the 1950s through the early 1980s. Do not underestimate them — on tight technical tracks, their low weight gives them a real edge.
The best D Class car at launch is the 1965 Toyota Sports 800 – Toyota’s first ever sports car, weighing just 580 kg. Its extreme lightness gives it better corner speed than almost all D Class competition.

S1 Class is where modern supercars live. It is also the most common class cap for high-end FH6 events outside of S2 and R Class. With over 60 confirmed S1 cars at launch, there is a huge variety to choose from. AWD traction starts to matter significantly at S1 power levels.

S2 Class Cars in Forza Horizon 6
S2 Class is hypercar territory. These are the fastest stock cars in the game outside of R Class. Top speeds regularly push past 250 mph with tuning. Around 19 confirmed S2 cars were available at launch, with more coming through the Car Pass and seasonal events.
The best all-around S2 car is the 2024 Koenigsegg Gemera – fast, controllable, and genuinely useable on road circuits. The 2014 Porsche 918 Spyder is another excellent choice with one of the best acceleration and launch packages in the game. The 2021 Mercedes-AMG ONE tops S2 with a perfect 10 in acceleration – it is the Loyalty Reward car for FH5 save file owners.

R Class Cars in Forza Horizon 6
R Class is the most exciting new addition to the Forza Horizon series in FH6. It sits above S2 and is reserved exclusively for track-focused race cars, factory prototypes, and purpose-built LMP machinery. These are not road-legal production cars — they are built for circuits, with heavy downforce, slick tyres, stiff suspension, and extreme cornering speed.
R Class cars trade some straight-line top speed for enormous grip and lap time performance. On tight circuits and technical routes they are the fastest class in the game. On long highways, their aero drag limits maximum speed compared to tuned S2 hypercars.

The Ferrari FXX-K Evo is the most consistent R Class pick at launch. It performs across a wide range of circuit types and is accessible to Welcome Pack owners without a large credit spend.
Special Cars – Forza Edition, Barn Finds, and Treasure Cars
Forza Edition Cars
Forza Edition cars in FH6 are dramatically different from previous Horizon titles. Rather than offering mild stat bumps, these variants carry extreme modifications that can push a vehicle multiple classes above its standard version. The most extreme examples jump from D Class all the way to S2. For example, the 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition jumps from D to S2, and the 1989 Nissan S-Cargo Forza Edition climbs from D to S1.
Most Forza Edition cars are Wheelspin-only – they cannot be bought from the Autoshow. The headline chase car is the Nissan GT-R Black Edition Forza Edition, built specifically for drag racing with approximately 2,700 horsepower, a drag wing, wheelie bars, and a parachute.
Barn Find Cars
Fifteen hidden cars are scattered across Japan’s open world, waiting to be discovered and restored. Barn Finds are unlocked through Discover Japan Stamps earned by exploring the map. Each regional stamp unlocks a new Barn Find hint. Our full Barn Find locations guide has all the details.
