Regional Mascots are one of the best new features in Forza Horizon 6. They replace the old board-hunting grind with something far more fun — food-themed collectibles scattered across Japan’s nine regions. They reward exploration, boost your credit count, and count toward your Discover Japan progression.
This guide covers everything you need to know: what they are, where to find them in each region, tips to hunt them efficiently, and how they tie into achievements and progression.
What Are Regional Mascots in Forza Horizon 6?
Regional Mascots are a brand-new collectible system in FH6. Each one is a small, adorable food-shaped figure that sits on the side of the road. You collect it by simply driving into it and smashing it.
Every region in Japan has its own mascot type, themed after a local Japanese dish or food. This means the mascots you find in Tokyo are different from the ones in the mountains or the coast. It makes hunting them feel tied to the world rather than just ticking boxes.
Mascots are tracked in the Collection Journal — a new feature in FH6 inspired by Japan’s real-life stamp-collecting culture (Stamp Rally). Your mascot progress contributes to your overall Horizon Festival rank and Discover Japan score.
For a full breakdown of how the Discover Japan system works, check our Forza Horizon 6 Discover Japan Stamps Guide.
Regional Mascots Rewards and Achievement
Here is what you earn from collecting mascots:
- 5,000 Credits per mascot smashed.
- 1,000,000 Credits total if you collect all 200.
- Discover Japan Points that contribute to your regional exploration score.
- Gotta Smash ‘Em All achievement — earned by smashing all 200 Regional Mascots (worth 30 Gamerscore).
If you are a credit farmer, hitting mascots before doing any racing is a smart move. The full 1,000,000-credit payout is available right from the first hour of the game and requires no race skill at all — just driving. For more ways to build your wallet, see our Forza Horizon 6 How to Earn Credits Fast guide.
How to Find Regional Mascots
There are a few ways to track down mascots in FH6:
- Drive near them: Mascots only appear on your minimap as a purple Face icon when you are close to them. The more you explore, the more appear.
- Explore a region fully: Once you have discovered 100% of a region, all remaining mascot locations in that area are revealed on your map automatically.
- Buy the Treasure Map: Available in-game for $2.99/€2.99. This marks all 400 collectibles (mascots and bonus boards) on your map instantly.
- Use Fast Travel: Once a mascot appears on your map, select its location and fast travel directly to it.
- Use Autodrive: Press Down + Left on the d-pad to activate Autodrive and let the game navigate your car to the selected destination automatically.
The good news: unlike Bonus Boards, every single mascot sits on the ground next to roads. There are no rooftops, no ramps, no jumping required. If you can drive straight, you can collect them all.
All 9 Regions and Their Mascots
FH6 has 200 mascots split across 9 regions. Each region has its own food-themed mascot. Below is a breakdown of every region, its mascot, and key tips for hunting them down.
1. Tokyo City — Dango

Tokyo’s mascot is the Dango — sticky glutinous rice dumplings served on skewers. These cheerful little snacks are hidden throughout Tokyo’s massive urban sprawl.
Tokyo City is the largest and most complex region in FH6 — five times bigger than any previous Horizon city. It has dense streets, elevated highways, downtown neon districts, suburbs, and industrial docklands. Mascots are spread across all of these areas, so work through Tokyo district by district to avoid missing any.
The map filter is your best friend here. Filter down to just the mascot icon so you are not overwhelmed by Tokyo’s many race events and side content.
2. Ohtani Region — Ramen

Ohtani’s mascot is the Ramen bowl — a warm, steaming bowl of broth, noodles, meat, and egg. This is widely considered the best-looking mascot in the game. It is the home of the Horizon Festival site and one of the busiest regions for early-game content.
Ohtani is compact but packed with open roads and large festival structures. There is a lot more land than roads here. Drive around the festival perimeter and open roads to find most of them. One tip: there is a mascot located right at the end of the drag strip near the festival grounds — easy to miss if you do not look.
For more on this region, check our Forza Horizon 6 Ohtani Region Treasure Hunt guide.
3. Shimanoyama Region — Curry Rice

Shimanoyama’s mascot is Curry Rice — a bowl of rice with sauce poured over the top, looking a little bit miserable but very charming. This is one of the prettiest regions in the game and gives you views of Mount Fuji along the coast.
Shimanoyama is a large region, so you will need to split it into north and south sections when hunting. Mascots are fairly evenly distributed between both halves. Take your time and explore the coastal areas as well as the inland roads.
4. Nangan Region — Prawn Tempura

Nangan is the southernmost region in FH6 and its mascot is the Prawn Tempura — a golden, crispy, deep-fried shrimp with an unforgettable kissy face. It is one of the most unique and adorable designs in the game.
This region features the rocket launch site and is also home to the Hakone Nanamagari Touge drift zone. The area around the rocket site and the Touge roads are particularly good spots to check for mascots.
5. Minamino Region — Edamame

The Minamino Region’s mascot is the Edamame pod — a cute little three-pea pod right in the middle of the map. Minamino is a highland region with open farmland and wide roads, making it one of the easier regions to clear.
Acres of open highlands mean you can see far ahead and spot mascots at speed. Pick a fast car, stick to the roads, and you will cover this region quickly. See the Minamino Golf Course location guide for a nearby point of interest while you are in the area.
6. Ito Region — Onigiri

The Ito Region features the Onigiri mascot — a large rice ball with a strip of seaweed at the bottom. Ito sits east of Tokyo City and right next to Legend Island, stretching across most of the eastern part of the map.
This is a large region with a lot of varied terrain — beach coastline, the Yahikoyama Ropeway, and an airfield all sit within it. Start from the west edge near Tokyo and work your way east toward the coast. The airfield and beach areas are key hunting grounds here.
7. Hokubu Region — Kakigori

Hokubu’s mascot is the Kakigori — the classic Japanese shaved ice dessert. These cold treats hide among the Shikisai-no-oka flower gardens and sunflower farms that make Hokubu one of the most visually stunning regions in the game.
Hokubu looks larger than it actually is on the map because The Estate sits to the west of the region. Most mascots are tucked around the central farmland, so focus your search there. This is also the region to visit if you enjoy photo mode — the flower fields make for stunning backdrops.
8. Takashiro Region — Matcha

Takashiro features the Matcha mascot — a calm, peaceful bowl of green tea perfectly matched to the rolling green hills and tea plantations of the region. Takashiro is one of the best areas in FH6 for drifting, with smooth corners and elevation changes throughout.
The region is deceptively large. Take a fast car and enjoy the scenic drive through the tea plantations as you collect mascots. The roads are smooth enough that you can maintain speed while scanning roadside areas. Check our Best Roads and Mountain Passes guide for ideal routes through this area.
9. Sotoyama Region — Omurice

Sotoyama is the northernmost region in FH6 and its mascot is the Omurice — a fluffy fried rice omelette topped with ketchup. This is the toughest region to hunt in because of the snowy, treacherous conditions.
Some mascots in Sotoyama are tucked away on skiing trails away from the main roads. Make sure you equip a car with snow tyres before heading up here. The ski jumps and Tateyama Snow Walls are nearby landmarks worth hitting while you explore. This region has the fewest mascots of any on the mainland, but they take the most effort to reach.
Tips to Collect All 200 Mascots Efficiently
Work Region by Region
Clear one region completely before moving to the next. Backtracking across Japan’s full map wastes a lot of time. Pick a region, explore it fully, collect all mascots, then move on.
Filter Your Map
Use the in-game map filter to show only mascot icons. Remove race events, drivatars, and other clutter. This makes it much easier to see what you have left and plan your route.
Explore Roads to Reveal Mascots
Mascots only appear on your map once you have driven near them — unless you have already fully explored a region. So early on, just drive every road in a region and mascots will pop up naturally as you go. This works well if you are combining mascot hunting with map exploration for the Horizon Cartographer achievement.
Hit Mascots Before Racing
If you want credits fast, hit the mascots first. The full 1,000,000-credit payout is available immediately from the start of the game, before you have won a single race. No race skill needed — just driving. It is the best early-game credit boost available.
Use Autodrive on Easy Terrain
On flat, open regions like Minamino or Ohtani, you can set a mascot as your destination and use Autodrive to get there hands-free. This is useful when you are further away from a mascot cluster and just need to close the distance.
Snow Tyres for Sotoyama
Do not head into Sotoyama without the right setup. The icy, snowy roads will catch you off guard in a regular sports car. Equip snow or all-terrain tyres before you head north. Our Best Off-Road and Dirt Cars guide can help you pick the right vehicle for tough terrain.
Do Not Bother with Legend Island
There are no mascots on Legend Island. Do not waste time searching there. See our How to Unlock Legend Island guide for what that region actually offers.
How Mascots Tie Into Discover Japan Progression
Collecting mascots is one of the most effective ways to progress your Discover Japan score. This score powers your Wristband Progression and unlocks new stamps, houses, and features as you advance.
In fact, collecting all mascots is one of the fastest ways to unlock Barn Finds in FH6. As your Discover Japan meter fills up, it triggers Barn Find clues. See our Barn Find Locations guide for the full list of hidden cars to restore.
Regional Mascots vs. Bonus Boards
FH6 has two types of collectibles: Regional Mascots and Bonus Boards. They are tracked separately and unlock two different achievements.
- Regional Mascots (200 total): Food-themed figures on the roadside. Reward Credits (5,000 each). Achievement: Gotta Smash ‘Em All.
- Bonus Boards (200 total): XP boards spread across the map. Reward XP when smashed. Achievement: A Few Splinters Is Nothing! The 50XP boards are the hard ones — they are typically on rooftops and require some air to reach.
Mascots are far easier to collect than Bonus Boards because every single one sits at road level. No ramps, no rooftops, no elevation tricks needed.
For a full guide to both collectibles and every achievement in the game, check our Forza Horizon 6 All Achievements and Trophy Guide.
