TL;DR
- A Furnace in Pokémon Pokopia is a power-generating structure — it burns fuel like Lumber to produce electricity for your town.
- Connect it to Utility Poles or Wireless Power Transmitters to power Vending Machines, streetlights, and Pokémon habitats.
- You unlock the Furnace Kit after completing the Brighten Things Up! Important Request in Bleak Beach.
- The Furnace Kit costs 500 Coins from the PC Shop. You’ll also need 15 Iron Ore and 5 Sea Glass Fragments to build it.
- A second pre-placed Furnace is found in Sparkling Skylands, to the right of the Pokémon Center.
- Both pre-placed Furnaces can be relocated using a Relocation Kit (10 Coins from the PC Shop).
- Don’t confuse it with the Smelting Furnace — that’s a completely different item used for turning ore into ingots.
In Pokémon Pokopia, a Furnace is one of the core power sources for your towns. Load it up with burnable fuel — Lumber is your best option — then connect it to Utility Poles or Wireless Power Transmitters and you’ll have a steady stream of electricity running to everything nearby.
That means happier Pokémon in electrically-equipped habitats, working Vending Machines, and lit-up streets once the sun goes down. It’s one of the most useful structures in the game, so here’s exactly how to get one.
One thing worth flagging before we dive in: the Furnace covered here is the power-generating Furnace. It’s completely separate from the Smelting Furnace, which uses a Pokémon with the Burn Specialty to process ore into ingots like Iron Ingots. Make sure you know which one you’re after before spending your Coins.
How to Get a Furnace in Pokémon Pokopia
There are three ways to get a Furnace — build a brand new one, use the pre-placed one in Bleak Beach, or find the one already waiting in Sparkling Skylands. Here’s how each option works.
1. Build a New Furnace
If you want to place a Furnace wherever suits you — whether that’s powering a Pokémon habitat or bringing electricity to Withered Wastelands or Rocky Ridges — you can build one from scratch.
First, you’ll need to complete the Brighten Things Up! Important Request in Bleak Beach. This is the quest where you’re introduced to how Furnaces generate power and distribute it through Utility Poles. Until this quest is done, the Furnace Kit won’t appear in the shop.

Once Brighten Things Up! is complete, head to the PC Shop and pick up the Furnace Kit for 500 Coins. Place it where you want the Furnace to go, then load the build site with 15 Iron Ore and 5 Sea Glass Fragments. Bring two Pokémon over — one must have the Build Specialty — and your new Furnace will be finished shortly.
To keep it fueled once it’s running, Lumber is the most practical option. If you’re running low, our how to get Lumber guide has you covered.
2. Use or Relocate the Bleak Beach Furnace
Once you reach Bleak Beach, you’ll find a large Furnace already placed to the east of the area. It’s fully functional from the moment you arrive and can be connected to Utility Poles straight away to power your town.

If you’d rather move it to a better spot, grab a Relocation Kit from the PC Shop for 10 Coins, bring two Pokémon (one with the Bulldoze Specialty), and you’re free to shift it wherever you like.
That said, I’d hold off on relocating it until you’ve finished all of Bleak Beach’s Important Requests. The Furnace plays a role in the Brighten Things Up! quest chain, and moving it too early can create unnecessary complications. For more on progressing through that area, check out our Time to Party Walkthrough.
3. Use or Relocate the Sparkling Skylands Furnace
Sparkling Skylands is the fourth main area in Pokémon Pokopia, and it only unlocks after you’ve completed the Brighten Things Up!, Yawn up a Storm!, and Time to Party! Important Requests across Withered Wastelands, Bleak Beach, and Rocky Ridges — which earns you the Ultra Trainer Rank needed to open the gates. Our guide on how to open Area Gates and raise Trainer Rank explains exactly what’s needed.

Once you’re in, head to the right of the Pokémon Center and you’ll find a Furnace sitting just beneath some scaffolding — it’s already there and ready to use.
This one is particularly valuable if you’re trying to attract Conkeldurr to your world. Build the Construction-site Generator habitat around it using 2 Iron Scaffolds and 1 Iron Pipe and Conkeldurr should start appearing. As always, a Relocation Kit lets you move this Furnace if needed, but again, finishing the area’s story quests first is the smarter move.
How to Use a Furnace for Power
Once your Furnace is placed, the process is simple. Fill it with burnable fuel — Lumber is the go-to choice — then run Utility Poles from the Furnace to whatever you want to power. You can tell a Utility Pole is properly connected when it lights up.
If running poles across your layout doesn’t suit the build, Wireless Power Transmitters are a cleaner alternative that work on the same principle.
The Furnace needs fuel to keep producing power, so top it up regularly — especially if you’re running multiple lights or several Vending Machines at once. Keeping your infrastructure properly powered also feeds directly into your Environment Level, so it’s worth staying on top of.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What fuel does the Furnace use in Pokémon Pokopia?
A: The Furnace accepts any burnable material, but Lumber is the most practical choice since it’s easy to gather in large quantities. Visit our how to get Lumber guide if you need to build up your supply.
Q: What’s the difference between the Furnace and the Smelting Furnace in Pokopia?
A: They’re two completely different items. The regular Furnace is a power source that burns fuel to generate electricity, which you distribute via Utility Poles or Wireless Power Transmitters. The Smelting Furnace is a crafting station that processes ore into ingots using a Pokémon with the Burn Specialty. If you’re after ingots, that’s the one you want — not this one.
Q: Can I move the pre-placed Furnaces in Pokopia?
A: Yes. Both the Bleak Beach Furnace and the Sparkling Skylands Furnace can be relocated using a Relocation Kit (10 Coins from the PC Shop) and two Pokémon, one of which needs the Bulldoze Specialty. Just finish the Important Requests in that area first, since both Furnaces are tied to quests.
Q: How many Furnaces can I have in Pokémon Pokopia?
A: There’s no cap. Once you unlock the Furnace Kit after completing Brighten Things Up!, you can buy and build as many as you need for 500 Coins each. The two pre-placed Furnaces also count toward your total and can be used or relocated as needed.
Q: Do I need a Furnace to attract Conkeldurr in Pokopia?
A: Yes. Conkeldurr’s Construction-site Generator habitat requires a Furnace as the centrepiece, along with 2 Iron Scaffolds and 1 Iron Pipe. The easiest approach is to build around the pre-placed Furnace in Sparkling Skylands. For a full list of what each Pokémon needs, check our Habitat Dex guide.
