    TL;DR

    • Combat Bags are pre-built loadouts that let you enter a run without risking your own gear.
    • The bag is only consumed when you enter a map — equipping or unequipping at camp costs nothing.
    • Successfully extracting lets you keep the gear from the bag permanently.
    • There are 5 bag types: Novice, Advanced, Pro, Elite (Normal tab) and Limited (Limited tab).
    • Best repeatable source: Scavenger Squad via Twig — resets roughly every hour.
    • Spend Echo of Fate in the Season Store for Advanced and Pro bags (cap: 3,000 per week).
    • Reach Duskborn tier on Path of Glory for a free Pro bag, Mistwalker tier for a free Elite bag.
    • New players get a free Combat Bag from the Pip’s Provision quest.
    • Novice bags cap at 10 — use them regularly to avoid wasting drops.
    • Bags cannot be sold, traded, or converted to currency.

What Are Combat Bags in Mistfall Hunter

A Combat Bag is a pre-built loadout stored in your Warehouse. When you equip one before entering a map, it automatically slots in a full set of gear — weapons, armour, and consumables — without you having to manually assemble anything. You can’t edit what a bag contains, but you also don’t need to. The whole point is speed and protection.

Here’s the critical rule: a Combat Bag is only consumed when you actually enter a map. Equipping one at camp, looking at it, or swapping between bags costs nothing. The bag disappears from your inventory the moment you load in. If you unequip it before entering, it goes straight back to your Warehouse untouched.

If you successfully extract from a run while wearing a Combat Bag’s gear, that equipment becomes yours to keep permanently. If you die before extracting, the gear is lost just like any other loadout. This makes Combat Bags most useful for runs where you want to keep your best gear safe while still going in properly equipped.

All Combat Bag Types in Mistfall Hunter

There are five Combat Bag types in total. Four sit under the Normal tab in your Warehouse’s Combat Bag section, and the fifth is in the Limited tab. Higher rarity bags come with better weapons, stronger armour, and more powerful healing items inside.

    • Novice Combat Bag — The most common bag. Good for early-game runs and routine farming. Ships with a set loadout including Minor Healing Elixirs. Caps at 10 in your inventory.
    • Advanced Combat Bag — A step up from Novice with better gear quality. Holds up to 5 in your inventory.
    • Pro Combat Bag — Solid mid-tier loadout suited to tougher runs and Chaos difficulty. Holds up to 5.
    • Elite Combat Bag — The strongest standard bag with high-quality gear across every slot. Holds up to 5.
    • Limited Combat Bag — The rarest and hardest to get. Found under the Limited tab. Provides the best equipment of all bag types.

Each bag type has its own inventory cap. Any bags you receive beyond the cap are wasted. The Novice cap of 10 fills up faster than most players expect, especially once you start running the Scavenger Squad regularly. Use bags before farming more to keep your pipeline clear.

How to Get More Combat Bags in Mistfall Hunter — All Methods

Method 1 — Scavenger Squad via Twig (Best Repeatable Source)

The Scavenger Squad is your most consistent and repeatable Combat Bag source. It resets roughly every hour, costs nothing to run, and scales up as you upgrade your camp.

To use it, find Twig at camp — he stands next to Pip. Talk to him and open the Scavenger Squad menu. From there, pick an expedition from the areas you’ve already unlocked through camp upgrades. Before confirming, check the preview rewards. The preview shows what the squad may bring back, including whether a Combat Bag is among the possible drops. If a bag isn’t in the preview, pick a different expedition.

Once the expedition timer is up, return to Twig and collect everything they’ve brought back. Combat Bags aren’t guaranteed on every trip, but treating the Scavenger Squad as an hourly background task keeps a steady flow of Novice and occasionally higher-tier bags coming in. Upgrading the Scavenger Squad through camp improvements opens better expeditions with improved odds of Pro-tier bags or above — prioritise this upgrade early.

Method 2 — Season Store with Echo of Fate (Best for Targeting Higher Tiers)

The Season Store lets you buy specific Combat Bag tiers directly using Echo of Fate — a currency earned by completing repeatable quests in the Fate Chart event.

Echo of Fate is capped at 3,000 per week. That weekly cap is enough to purchase both the Pro Combat Bag and the Advanced Combat Bag from the store. This makes it the best method for targeting a specific rarity rather than relying on RNG from Scavenger expeditions.

Keep in mind this is a time-limited seasonal source. The Fate Chart event and the exact store stock rotate when a new season starts. Take advantage of it while it’s live by draining your weekly Echo of Fate cap before it resets.

Method 3 — Path of Glory (Free Pro and Elite Bags)

The Path of Glory progression track rewards Combat Bags at specific milestones as you play through the season.

    • Reach the Duskborn tier and complete three matches to receive a free Pro Combat Bag.
    • Reach the Mistwalker tier and complete another three matches to receive a free Elite Combat Bag.

These are one-time milestone rewards per season, but they’re valuable because they hand you higher-tier bags without any additional cost. Just playing the game and progressing naturally through Path of Glory fills in the gaps between your Scavenger Squad supply and the Season Store.

Method 4 — Pip’s Provision Quest (Free Starter Bag)

New players receive a free Combat Bag through the Pip’s Provision quest. This is a one-time newcomer reward that gives you a starting loadout as part of your early camp introduction. Just claim it from Pip when the quest is available. It won’t be there forever, so grab it as soon as you see it.

    Method 5 — In-Game Mail and Events

Bellring Games has distributed Combat Bags directly via in-game mail during launch events and milestone rewards. At launch, players received Advanced and Pro Combat Bags alongside other compensation rewards. Event rewards have also included bags ranging from Novice up to Elite as part of limited-time activities.

Check your in-game Mailbox via Soekja the white crow at the pier regularly. Don’t let mail rewards expire unclaimed. Ongoing events like the 500,000 player milestone reward also include items via mail, so keeping an eye on official announcements pays off. See our free rewards and milestone roadmap for the latest on what’s available to claim.

Method 6 — World Loot During Runs

Combat Bags can also drop as world loot during normal expedition runs. This isn’t a reliable farming method on its own, but if you’re already looting an area heavily, it’s worth knowing that bags can appear as random drops. Any bag you find during a run lands in your Warehouse under the Combat Bag tab when you successfully extract.

Where to Find Combat Bags in Your Warehouse

All Combat Bags are stored in your Warehouse at Windrest camp. Open the Warehouse and navigate to the Combat Bag tab. The Normal section lists your Novice, Advanced, Pro, and Elite bags with their current counts. The Limited section holds any Limited Combat Bags you’ve collected.

If a bag count doesn’t go up after a Scavenger expedition or a season reward pays out, the most common reason is that you’ve hit the inventory cap for that type. Use a few bags before your next farming session to free up space and prevent wasted drops.

How to Use a Combat Bag

Using a Combat Bag is straightforward:

    1. Open your Warehouse at camp and go to the Combat Bag tab.
    2. Select the bag you want and press Equip — all the gear inside automatically equips to your character.
    3. Enter a map. The bag is consumed at this point, not before.
    4. Play your run. If you extract successfully, the gear is yours permanently. If you die, the gear is lost.

You can swap between bags at camp as many times as you like without consuming any of them. Only loading into a map triggers the consumption. If you equipped a bag but want to change your mind before entering, unequip it — it goes straight back to the Warehouse.

Combat Bag Tips to Get the Most Out of Them

Use Novice Bags on Farming Runs, Save Higher Tiers for Difficult Content

Novice bags are plentiful and easy to replace. Use them freely on routine Hallowgrove farming runs. Save your Advanced, Pro, and Elite bags for harder content — Chaos difficulty, the Supreme Hall, contested areas like the Watchtower zone, or runs where you’re going for high-value locked chests. Our Watchtower Key chest guide is a good example of a run where better gear matters significantly.

Never Let Your Novice Bag Count Sit at 10

The Novice cap of 10 is easy to hit if you’re sending the Scavenger Squad every hour without spending any bags. Once you’re capped, every Novice bag the Squad brings back is wasted. Burn through a few before each dispatch to keep space open and maximise your return from expeditions.

Upgrade the Scavenger Squad as a Priority

Higher-level Scavenger Squad upgrades unlock better expedition types that have a meaningfully higher chance of returning Pro-tier bags or above. This upgrade is one of the better investments in camp because it improves your passive bag income without requiring any active effort. Check our what to upgrade first guide to see how to slot it into your camp upgrade order.

Drain Your Echo of Fate Cap Every Week

The 3,000 weekly Echo of Fate cap covers both purchasable bag tiers in the Season Store. There’s no benefit to leaving it uncapped — spend it on Pro and Advanced bags every week the Fate Chart event is active. A Pro bag every week from the store, stacked on top of Scavenger Squad drops and Path of Glory rewards, keeps your Warehouse well-stocked.

Bags Can’t Be Traded or Sold

Combat Bags are bound to your account. You can’t sell them to vendors, trade them to other players, or convert them to Gyldenblood. The only thing you can do with them is use them. There’s no reason to hoard them beyond your current needs — spend bags freely knowing there are reliable ways to restock.

    Combat Bags and Class Choice

Every class in Mistfall Hunter benefits from Combat Bags, but the right bag tier matters depending on what you’re doing. Classes with steeper learning curves — like the Shadowstrix or Withered Knight — benefit more from Pro or Elite bags that give you more margin for error during fights. Beginner-friendly classes like the Mercenary can do solid work with even a Novice bag during early runs.

If you’re still deciding on a class and aren’t sure which one fits how you want to play, our best classes for beginners guide breaks down each option clearly. And for full breakdowns of how individual classes play, see guides for the Blackarrow, Seer, and Sorcerer.
