How to Slide Down 50 Meters in Crimson Desert (Sliding Down the Slope)
TL;DR
- Pick up the Sealed Abyss Artifact near Bloomwood Ranch crossroads to unlock the challenge
- The full 50 meters must be done in one single unbroken slide — not across multiple attempts
- On PC: Sprint with Shift, then tap C to crouch and slide
- On PS5: Sprint with X, then tap L3 (don’t hold it)
- On Xbox: Sprint with A, then tap L3 (don’t hold it)
- Horse drifting also counts as sliding and is the easier method
- Best location: The slope on the road leading down from Howling Hill toward Hernand
The “Sliding Down the Slope” challenge in Crimson Desert sounds easy at first. Just slide downhill for 50 meters, right? But most players hit a wall here. The game tells you nothing about how to actually slide, where to go, or why their attempts keep failing. This guide covers everything — the artifact location, the controls, the best slopes, and the horse trick that makes it way easier.

What Is the Sliding Down the Slope Challenge
This is one of the Training Challenges in Crimson Desert. It is tied to a Sealed Abyss Artifact you pick up near Bloomwood Ranch. Once you grab the artifact, the challenge becomes active. Your goal is simple — slide 50 meters continuously in one go.
The tricky part is that the game tracks the full 50 meters as a single unbroken slide. Short slides on different hills do not add up. You need one long, clean slide from start to finish on a slope long enough to cover the full distance.

Where to Find the Sealed Abyss Artifact
The artifact is located at the crossroads west of Bloomwood Ranch, near Hernand. Look for a small stone altar or memorial in the grass at the road junction. It sits in the open, so it is easy to spot if you know where to look.
Pick it up to activate the challenge. After completing the slide, open your inventory and manually use the artifact to claim the reward.
How to Slide in Crimson Desert
Sliding is not a dedicated button press on its own. You trigger it by crouching while sprinting on a downhill slope.
PC Controls:
- Press Shift to sprint
- Tap C to crouch and begin sliding
PS5 Controls:
- Press X to sprint
- Tap L3 (left stick click) to slide
Xbox Controls:
- Press A to sprint
- Tap L3 (left stick click) to slide
One important note for controller players — tap L3, do not hold it. Holding L3 activates Axiom Force instead of the crouch. That is a common mistake that trips people up.
You also need to be going full sprint speed before you crouch. Walking or light jogging will not trigger a slide. Once the slide starts, do not press anything else. Any extra input can cut the slide short before you hit 50 meters.

Best Locations to Slide 50 Meters
Finding the right slope is half the battle. Most slopes in the early game are too short. Here are two reliable spots.
Howling Hill to Hernand Road

This is the easiest early-game spot. The road leading down from your Howling Hill camp toward Hernand has a long continuous descent. Start your sprint at the top and slide all the way down. The slope is clean and smooth enough to maintain the slide without hitting obstacles.

This is right near your base of operations in Chapter 3, so you will likely pass through this area anyway.
Reedwind Valley Path

The path leading up to Reedwind Valley also has steep sections that work well. This area is relevant in Chapter 3 around the Reed Devil quest, so you may already be heading there. Check out our Reed Devil tracking guide if you need help in that area.

Use Your Horse to Make It Easier (Recommended)
Here is the trick most players do not know. Horse drifting counts as sliding in Crimson Desert. This makes the 50-meter challenge much more manageable because horses move faster and cover ground quicker.
To drift on a horse, bring it up to full dash speed, then move the left stick left and right while holding Circle on PS5 or B on Xbox. The drift will register as a slide for the challenge.
Important: Your horse needs to be at Level 3 to unlock the Drift skill. Without it, mounted attempts will not count. Make sure you have trained your horse before trying this method.
Also watch your stamina. Drifting drains horse stamina quickly. If you sprint too long before the slope, you may run out of stamina mid-drift before hitting 50 meters. Build a short burst of speed, then start the drift as you hit the slope. That gives you enough stamina to maintain the full distance.

Tips to Complete the Challenge First Try
- Place a map marker at the top of your chosen slope so you know where to start
- Do not hold crouch — tap it and let the momentum carry you
- On foot, keep all other inputs neutral until you stop sliding
- If using a horse, do not over-sprint before the slope starts
- The Howling Hill road is your safest bet on foot for early game
- Horse drift is faster and more reliable once your horse hits Level 3
What You Get for Completing It
Once you slide the full 50 meters in one go, the Sealed Abyss Artifact is unsealed. Open your inventory and use it to collect the reward. Sealed Abyss Artifacts are a key source of skill points in Crimson Desert, so it is worth grinding these out early.
