Where to Find Tiel the Acolyte

Tiel’s location is automatically pinned on your map the moment you arrive at Marrow Keep after the prologue. You do not need to search blind.

Step-by-step directions:

1. Fast travel to the Widow’s Overlook Beacon in Fainweald.
2. Head southeast down the path from the Beacon.
3. Follow the dirt path past Mushroom Village on your left.
4. Keep going until you reach a wooden gate with two torches on either side. Go through it.
5. Approach the large tree just past the gate. Your screen will start pulsating red and you will hear a loud heartbeat – that means a Shell is very close.
6. Turn left. You will see Tiel’s body halfway inside a shallow grave.
7. Interact with the corpse to enter “The Rash” memory.

Inside the memory, go to the side of the house and climb in through the window. Pick up the flask on the desk and wait for the Apothecary to enter. Let the cutscene play out. After it ends, you get the option to switch to Tiel, which confirms you have permanently unlocked him.

Who Is Tiel the Acolyte?

Tiel is a returning character from the original Mortal Shell. He was an acolyte who trained at both the Temple of Ash and Eternal Narthex. In Mortal Shell 2, he is described as a nimble class built around dash movements, quick strikes, and a unique Shadow mechanic that lets him become temporarily undetectable.

His motto: “Once you have nothing, you’re free to take everything.”

Active – Lingering Shadow

Tiel gains Shadow and prepares to perform a Shadow Strike with his dagger. While in Shadow, enemies cannot detect him. A Light Attack while in Shadow triggers the Shadow Strike, dealing high damage with bonus Stagger. This is your main damage tool and your gap-closer against bigger enemies.

Passive – Shadow Dash

Dashing just before an attack hits grants Tiel Shadow automatically and inflicts Stagger Damage on the attacker. This is what makes Tiel forgiving early on. Even if you mistime a dodge a little, getting it right rewards you with a free invisiblity window and puts the enemy off balance, giving you a safe window to attack.
