TL;DR
- Phantom Blade Zero has 30 primary weapons (Blades) spread across all regions.
- Weapons come in three types: one-handed, two-handed, and dual-wield.
- Most are earned by defeating bosses — a few require side quests or special conditions.
- Some weapons like Whiteshadow and Aureate require completing major optional content.
- Weapons can be upgraded up to level 30 and fully Soul Tempered for upgrades. Upgrades can also be reset at any time for a full refund.
- Switching between two primary weapons mid-fight fully restores your Sha-Chi.
How Weapons Work in Phantom Blade Zero
In Phantom Blade Zero, your character Soul carries two primary weapons (Blades) and two secondary weapons (Phantom Edges) at all times. You swap between your two primary weapons outside of combat to fit your playstyle, and switching between them mid-fight instantly refills your Sha-Chi — making weapon swapping one of the core combat habits in the game.
Primary weapons fall into three categories: one-handed, two-handed, and dual-wield. Each weapon has its own special perk, a Power Surge ultimate ability, and its own upgrade path. You can upgrade any weapon up to level 30 using materials found throughout the world, and you can reset upgrades at any time for a full refund — so there’s no penalty for experimenting.
Some weapons can also be Soul Tempered using special materials dropped by bosses. This transforms them into a stronger, upgraded version with new perks and higher damage. Blazing Edge and Infernal Rouge, for example, are the Soul-Tempered forms of existing weapons rather than separate drops.
Below is a full breakdown of every weapon in the game, organized by the region where you find them.
Weeping Creek Valley Weapons
The opening region gives you several weapons right away and a few you need to hunt for. Most of these set up your early playstyle.
- Wooden Sanguine (One-handed) — Your tutorial weapon. Available by default from the very start.

- Sanguine (One-handed) — Soul’s personal sword. Available by default. Its Level 5 perk, Chi-Infused Blade, boosts damage for 40 seconds. This is the baseline weapon that most players use throughout the whole game.

- Sanguine Twin (Dual-wield) — A pair of short swords crafted by the NPC Forge. After meeting Yu’er in the forest, continue along the same path to find the weapon rack. Fast hit-count playstyle that builds Sha-Chi quickly.

- Sanguine Reach (Two-handed) — Once you find the Forge, look to the right to find this on a weapon rack. Wide swings that hit multiple enemies and great for crowd control.

- Jagged Steel (One-handed) — Dropped by the boss Jagged Steel, the Frenzied Brute. Its special perk inflicts Bleed on enemies, filling their bleed gauge with sustained pressure. A solid early weapon for aggressive players.

- Scarlet Wraithblade (One-handed) — Found by going to the Sha-Chi Tower in the northern part of the region. Look for an opening with a wooden bridge and slide all the way down to the end. This leads to an optional boss fight against Hua, Deadly Betrothed. Defeating her unlocks this weapon.

Crimson Forest Weapons
Crimson Forest introduces two new weapons and the game’s first taste of optional boss encounters. One weapon here has a Soul Temper upgrade path worth saving materials for.

- The Fanatic’s Broken Blade (One-handed) — Dropped by Hua Qianxiao, the Sword Fanatic, who is found near the Pangzhen Bridge Overlook area of Crimson Forest. Its perk puts Soul into a drunken sword style — pressing heavy attack and block simultaneously enters a tipsy state, restoring Sha-Chi and enabling flying sword attacks for 15 seconds. Pressing the input again goes fully drunk for even stronger attacks at the cost of restricted movement. Soul Tempering this weapon with the Fanatic’s Obsession material transforms it into The Fanatic’s Drunken Sword, a stronger version with the same style.

- Outlaw Warblade (One-handed) — Dropped by the boss Jing Ye, The Outlaw, who is a main story boss in Crimson Forest.
Village of Lu Weapons
The Village of Lu has four weapons, including two tied to a unique optional boss encounter that is easy to miss if you rush through the region.

- Tianxuan Bronze Sword (One-handed) — Found in the Village of Lu after progressing through the region. Dropped by the Master Bi Yuan of the Tianxuan Sect boss, this weapon can be Soul Tempered with Bronze Essence to gain the Effortless Action perk.

- Wild Oriole Sword (One-handed) — Earned by completing Mu Xiaokui’s full three-phase boss encounter. To trigger her additional phase, you must interact with all five of Mu Xiaokui’s ribbons scattered around the Village of Lu before the fight. After defeating her, collect the Wild Oriole Sword from the dock before leaving the area — it does not follow you, so do not miss this window. Its Oriole Song perk makes heavy attacks produce a rending blade wave for 10 seconds. Soul Tempering it with the Supreme Order Token transforms it into Tianmiao · Wild Oriole.
- Fiend Saws (Dual-wield) — Also earned from Mu Xiaokui’s additional boss encounter. Same condition as above — find all five ribbons first. Its Fiend-Aura Erosion perk drains enemy HP when the gauge is full, and its Power Surge grants unblockable attacks and increased damage against guard-broken enemies for 10 seconds.
- White Serpent & Crimson Viper (Dual-wield) — Received after the Mu Xiaokui encounter. This dual-sword set uses a longer blade (White Serpent) for range and a shorter blade (Crimson Viper) for close-range burst. The shorter blade can be thrown outward as a ranged attack and returns after a short delay. A high skill ceiling weapon that rewards players who understand spacing.
Our Hunter’s Chain Sickle guide covers one of the key Phantom Edges you also unlock in this part of the game.
Pangzhen Weapons
Pangzhen is the densest region for weapons, offering several across its many sub-areas. Some require careful exploration to find.
- Armybreaker (Two-handed) — Dropped by the boss Cavalrybane, who you fight in the marketplace area. This is a main-path encounter.
- Parting Hooks (Dual-wield) — A unique weapon found in Pangzhen. When using the Guard Stance special perk, it automatically blocks incoming enemy attacks, making it a strong defensive option for players who prefer counter-based play.
- Shadowless Edge (Dual-wield) — Found in Pangzhen. A high-damage dual-wield weapon unlocked through exploration and boss encounters in the later parts of the region.
- Freezing Chaos (One-handed) — Obtained in the Crimson Forest during a late-game return visit. Requires completing the Triple Threat quest, obtaining the Blazing Edge via Soul Tempering, and then defeating Yucong, No. 3 of the Seven Judgments. The weapon lets you switch between three elemental forms using the heavy attack and block inputs.
Mandate Encampment Weapons
The Mandate Encampment is a mid-game region that delivers two good weapons, both earned through direct boss encounters.
- Soft Snake Sword (One-handed) — Dropped by the boss Wu Lengshuang, the Soft Sword. This is a defensive parry-focused weapon. It can form a blade barrier that blocks incoming attacks and even cuts through projectiles. A methodical, counter-heavy weapon for players who like to read enemies rather than overwhelm them. Soul Tempering it with the Dancer’s Ribbon material unlocks the Final Gambit perk.
- Baishan Stormswords (Dual-wield) — Dropped by the boss Yubi, the No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet. A fast dual-wield option suited for players who want high mobility and rapid combos.
Meigu Lake Weapons
Meigu Lake has two weapons, and one of them is one of the most sought-after in the game because it requires a significant amount of optional work to unlock.
- Sundering Dual Axes (Dual-wield) — Dropped by the boss Heartpiercer, found in the White Serpent House area of Meigu Lake. A powerful dual-axe set with strong stagger potential.
- Whiteshadow (Two-handed) — The hidden weapon of Meigu Lake. To get it, you must collect all four Acolyte Masks, bring them to the frozen western section of Meigu Lake, and use them to enter the Phantom Illusionist Ruins through the Frozen Mirror. Then traverse the hidden realm and defeat the Blizzard Blademaster at the end. This is also a True Ending requirement. See our full guide on the Frozen Mirror and Phantom Illusionist Ruins for the complete walkthrough.
Mountain of Imprisonment Weapons
The Mountain of Imprisonment is an optional area accessed through Meigu Lake. It contains two weapons, both earned from tough boss fights.
- Juggernaut (Two-handed) — Dropped by the boss Bi Feng, the Giant Saber Commander. This weapon builds Red Edge stacks with each successful parry. Performing a heavy attack consumes all stacks and unleashes a massive power strike. An ideal weapon for players who are confident in their parry timing and want big punish windows.
- Seamless Death (Dual-wield) — Dropped by the boss Jade-Face. Twin rings that function as both melee and ranged weapons — they can be thrown in sequence and home in on enemies. A unique bonus: dodging with this weapon briefly phases Soul out of existence, granting extra invulnerability frames. One of the safest weapons in the game for players who get pressured often.
Mirage Estate Weapons
Mirage Estate is near the end of the game and introduces one new weapon before the finale.
- Crescent Blade (Two-handed) — Dropped by the boss Yuding, No. 12 Crescent Blade Puppet, near the Training Grounds area of Mirage Estate. A strong late-game option for players who prefer heavy two-handed combat.
Mount Soulrend Weapon
Mount Soulrend is the endgame region, and it holds the rarest weapon in Phantom Blade Zero — one that only appears if you have done everything needed for the Perfect Ending.
- Aureate — The secret final weapon. To get it, you must complete all True Ending requirements and then defeat Zuo Shang after entering the golden portal beyond Meng Hua. This weapon is exclusive to players who unlock the Perfect Ending. If you skipped any of the required purple quests, you will not fight Zuo Shang and cannot get this weapon in the same playthrough. Our full guide on how to get the Perfect Ending covers every requirement in detail.
Soul Tempered (Upgraded) Weapons
Several weapons in Phantom Blade Zero are upgraded forms of existing weapons through Soul Tempering rather than separate boss drops. Here are the key ones to know about:
- The Fanatic’s Drunken Sword — Soul Tempered version of The Fanatic’s Broken Blade. Uses the Fanatic’s Obsession material.
- Tianmiao · Wild Oriole — Soul Tempered version of Wild Oriole Sword. Uses the Supreme Order Token.
- Infernal Rouge — Soul Tempered version of Sanguine using the Bastion of Mó Mask material.
- Blazing Edge — A Soul Tempered upgrade form used in the Freezing Chaos unlock chain. Required for the Triple Threat questline.
Tips for Collecting All Weapons
- Collect all five ribbons before fighting Mu Xiaokui. This is the most commonly missed step in the game. Without the ribbons, her additional boss phase does not trigger and you lose two weapons permanently in that run.
- Pick up Wild Oriole Sword before leaving the area. After the fight, the weapon is in the arena. It does not follow you into your inventory automatically. Walk over to it and collect it before fast traveling away.
- Save boss-specific Soul Temper materials. Each Soul Tempering transformation requires a unique material dropped by a specific boss. Do not sell or discard them.
- You can reset upgrades for a full refund at any time. There is no cost to experimenting with a new weapon. Reset upgrades and re-invest them whenever you find something that suits you better.
- Don’t skip the Mountain of Imprisonment. This optional area has two of the best weapons in the game — Juggernaut and Seamless Death — and many players miss it entirely because it is not on the main path.
- Whiteshadow and Aureate require the True Ending path. If you are a completionist, do not head into Mirage Estate without finishing the optional content first. See the True Ending guide for the full checklist.
