TL;DR
- The Ring quest begins automatically after completing The Lunar Game — Bakir’s boss fight quest.
- The Ring with the Purple Eye (amethyst ring) is inside a small chest on the north side of Bakir’s treasury.
- Use Focus Mode to spot it — possible locations glow yellow.
- Once you pick it up, Coen notices strange sigils carved into it — it’s clearly more than a family heirloom.
- You have four choices: give it to Farkas, take it to Anca, take it to the Uriash Matriarch, or give it to the Sanzhani Tsarina.
- Best choice: Keep it and give it to Anca or the Matriarch — giving it to Farkas leads to a bad outcome for his brother.
- Giving to Anca → Epic Quick Fighter’s Ring (human health, restoration, Swordmastery cooldown).
- Giving to Matriarch or Sanzhani Tsarina → Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet (damage reduction, blood drinking restoration).
- Rewards cost 2 Time Segments to collect from Anca or the Matriarch.
The Ring quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker looks simple at first. Farkas wants a ring back. You find it. End of story. But the ring is cursed, the quest branches into four different outcomes, and one of them has a genuinely dark consequence that only shows up later in the epilogue. This guide walks you through where to find the ring, every dialogue option, and which NPC to give it to based on your build.

What Is The Ring Quest?
The Ring is a side quest tied directly to Bakir, one of Brencis’s three vampiric vassals. His jester — a clever, unpredictable man named Farkas — approaches Coen after you’ve disrupted enough of Bakir’s operations. Farkas has a plan to take down his master, and he asks one favour in return: find a ring with an amethyst in Bakir’s treasury. He says it’s a family heirloom that could help his younger brother, who Bakir badly abused.
What Farkas doesn’t tell you — and what the ring’s carved sigils make obvious once you find it — is that this is no ordinary accessory. It holds dark, dangerous magic. What you do with it decides how this story ends for Farkas, his brother, and Coen’s accessory slot.
How to Unlock The Ring Quest
The Ring does not appear independently on your map. It unlocks through the Bakir storyline. Here is the path to trigger it:
- Disrupt Bakir’s operations across Vale Sangora through the Court Activities menu — attack distilleries, intercept transports, free prisoners from pillories, and kill his headhunters. You need around seven disruptions to fill his Anger meter to maximum.
- Once his Anger hits the required threshold, Farkas approaches Coen and proposes a plan: enter the Lunar Manor’s deadly tournament, survive the maze, and reach Bakir in his treasury.
- Complete The Lunar Game — Bakir’s boss infamy quest. Survive the PvPvE maze at Lunar Manor, then defeat Bakir in his treasury.
- After Bakir is dealt with, The Ring begins automatically. You do not need to have agreed to help Farkas beforehand — even if you simply find and loot the ring on your own while exploring the treasury, the quest starts.
Important warning: Do NOT accept money as your reward and leave the treasury after asking about the ring. If you take gold and walk out, you can lock yourself out of The Ring entirely. Make sure you grab the ring before leaving Bakir’s treasure room.
Where to Find the Ring in Bakir’s Treasury
Once inside Bakir’s treasury after the Lunar Game, here is exactly where the ring is:
- Activate Focus Mode as soon as you enter — lootable items glow yellow and the possible locations for the ring are highlighted this way.
- The Ring with the Purple Eye (also called the Amethyst Ring) is inside a small chest on a shelf on the north side of the room.
- The rest of the treasury has plenty of other loot worth grabbing too — take everything before you go.
Once you pick up the ring, Coen immediately notices that strange sigils are carved into it. This is not just a piece of jewellery. You are then prompted to speak with Farkas, who is waiting nearby.
The Confrontation With Farkas — Dialogue Choices
When you talk to Farkas after picking up the ring, Coen can accuse him of orchestrating the entire plan just to obtain a magical artifact. The conversation gets tense. However, since the ring is already in your inventory, you cannot convincingly deny having it — Coen has to acknowledge it’s in his possession.
At this point you face your first major choice:
- Give Farkas the ring — hand it over right now. The Ring quest ends immediately. No further investigation.
- Keep the ring — refuse to hand it over. Farkas leaves angry. The quest continues with a new objective: find someone who knows more about it.
If you chose not to help Farkas at all during The Lunar Game, or killed him, you can still pick up the ring and take it elsewhere. The quest does not fail.
All Four Choices — What Happens and What You Get
Choice 1 – Give the Ring to Farkas
Farkas thanks Coen and leaves with the ring. The quest closes instantly with no item reward. This feels like the right thing to do — he claimed it would help his abused younger brother recover. But later, a world event reveals the real outcome: Farkas accidentally kills his own brother while trying to use the ring’s dark magic. You can learn more about this through a letter in the epilogue.
Verdict: Bad outcome. No reward. Avoid this choice if you want the best ending for Farkas’s brother and any gear at all.
Choice 2 – Give the Ring to Anca
If you keep the ring, your first option is to take it to Anca at the Crossroads Inn. When she is not involved in one of her own questlines, she can usually be found there.
- Anca immediately recognises the danger. She warns Coen that the ring contains dark, corrupted magic and strongly recommends destroying it rather than using it.
- She destroys the ring and gives Coen the Quick Fighter’s Ring as a replacement.
- This costs 2 Time Segments.
Quick Fighter’s Ring stats (Epic accessory):
- Maximum human health boost
- Human health restoration
- Swordmastery ability cooldown reduction
Verdict: Best choice for human form and Swordmastery builds. If you’re leaning into Coen’s human combat abilities and sword skills, this is the ring you want. Anca is easy to find and you get a clean narrative resolution.
Choice 3 – Give the Ring to the Uriash Matriarch
The second option for keeping the ring is to take it to the Uriash Matriarch in the Hidden Uriash Village. You unlock access to her through the Lacra questline and the Song of the Mountain quest. If you know Ocha and have completed her quest in Svartrau City, you can enter the village without issue.
- Like Anca, the Matriarch identifies the ring as dangerous dark magic and advises Coen to destroy it.
- She destroys it and rewards Coen with the Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet.
- This costs 2 Time Segments.
Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet stats:
- Physical damage reduction
- Magical damage reduction
- Blood drinking restoration
Verdict: Best choice for Vrakhir and vampire-form focused builds. The damage reduction and blood drinking restoration make this excellent for players who rely heavily on Coen’s vampire abilities in combat. Requires unlocking the Uriash Village first — a prerequisite that may add extra steps if you haven’t done the Lacra questline yet.
Choice 4 – Give the Ring to the Sanzhani Tsarina
A lesser-known third option: you can hand the ring to the Sanzhani Tsarina at the Yawning Burrow — the same fairy leader from the Letters to Lunka quest chain. You must have already completed the Good Home quest and unlocked the burrow to access her.
- The Tsarina gives you the same reward as the Uriash Matriarch: the Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet.
- If you’ve already finished the Sanzhani questline, she is easier to reach than the Uriash Matriarch.
Verdict: Same reward as the Matriarch, but more accessible if you’ve completed the Letters to Lunka chain and the Yawning Burrow is already on your fast travel list.
Which Choice Is Best for The Ring Quest?
Here’s the quick breakdown:
- Give to Farkas: Skip. Leads to his brother’s death, no reward.
- Give to Anca: Best for Swordmastery and human-form builds. Easier to access early.
- Give to Uriash Matriarch or Sanzhani Tsarina: Best for vampire-form and Vrakhir builds. Matriarch requires the Lacra questline; Tsarina requires the Sanzhani questline.
Both the Anca reward and the Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet are Epic-tier accessories, so neither is objectively stronger — it comes down to your build. Players using heavy Swordmastery and human combat go Anca. Players building around vampire powers and blood drinking go Matriarch or Tsarina.
Tips for The Ring Quest
- Never accept money and leave after discussing the ring with Bakir. This is the one way to lock yourself out of The Ring entirely. Always grab the amethyst ring from the treasury before exiting.
- Loot the entire treasury first before engaging Farkas in dialogue. You cannot go back once certain dialogue sequences trigger.
- Don’t give the ring to Farkas if you care about him and his brother. The epilogue letter makes it clear the cursed ring kills his sibling.
- Use Focus Mode in the treasury to find the ring quickly — it glows yellow and stands out from the rest of the loot.
- Budget 2 Time Segments for delivering the ring to Anca, the Matriarch, or the Tsarina. Don’t do this when you’re short on time in the final days.
- Plan the Sanzhani route early. If you’ve already completed the Letters to Lunka questline, the Tsarina is one of the fastest options for the Vrakhir amulet.
- After beating Bakir, make sure to also loot his body for Bakir’s Armour (Legendary Medium Chestplate) and consider drinking his blood for the Shadowstorm vampiric ability.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you start The Ring quest in Blood of Dawnwalker?
The Ring begins automatically after you complete The Lunar Game and deal with Bakir. Enter his treasury, find the Ring with the Purple Eye in a small chest on the north side of the room, and pick it up. The quest starts the moment Coen notices the unusual sigils on it, whether or not you agreed to help Farkas beforehand.
Should you give the ring to Farkas in Blood of Dawnwalker?
No. Giving the ring to Farkas ends the quest immediately with no reward, and a later world event reveals that the corrupted ring accidentally kills his younger brother. Keep it and take it to Anca, the Uriash Matriarch, or the Sanzhani Tsarina instead for both a better outcome and a useful Epic accessory.
What is the best reward for The Ring quest?
It depends on your build. Give the ring to Anca at the Crossroads Inn for the Quick Fighter’s Ring — best for Swordmastery and human form builds. Give it to the Uriash Matriarch or the Sanzhani Tsarina for the Vrakhir’s Endurance Amulet — best for vampire-form and blood drinking builds. Both cost 2 Time Segments to collect.
Can you miss The Ring quest?
Yes — if you accept money as your reward after discussing the ring with Bakir and then leave the treasury without picking it up, you can lock yourself out of the quest entirely. Always grab the ring from the treasury before leaving. The quest has no fail state otherwise, even if you refused to help Farkas or killed him during The Lunar Game.
