Tortuga Mayan Stone Walkthrough – Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

The Tortuga Mayan Stone in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is found on the western side of the island near the sandy beach, in the Punta Guarico region. Enemies patrol the area around the pillar, so clear them before climbing. The puzzle solution here is one of the trickier ones visually — you need to flip the overlay almost fully to get the circles to line up. Tortuga also has a Treasure Map skeleton on the eastern shore worth picking up, a warehouse with a painting inside, and only 9 collectibles total, making it one of the faster full clears in the game.

• The stelae is on the western part of Tortuga, near the sandy beach.
• Tortuga is in the Punta Guarico region at approximately map coordinates 846, 352.
• Puzzle solution: flip the overlay almost fully so the two circles on the same line align with the top and right pillars below.
• After solving, the dig site appears at the tip of the straight white line of the puzzle — look for it there, not directly under the pillar.
• Enemies patrol near the stelae — clear them before climbing the pillar.
• The Treasure Map on a skeleton on the eastern shoreline at 851, 352 leads to the Mortar Storage Ultimate Plan buried at Matanzas.
• The warehouse key is in a banana box next to two guards and a haystack on the western side — grab it to get the “Map of the World” Painting inside.
• Total collectibles: 9 — Viewpoint, Mayan Stelae, 2 Chests, 3 Secrets (including 1 Treasure Map), 1 Huntable Animal, 1 Painting.

Tortuga is a compact island and one of the quicker full clears in the game. For every other stelae across the Caribbean, the complete AC Black Flag Resynced Mayan Stelae locations guide has all 16 covered with solutions.

Where Is Tortuga in AC Black Flag Resynced?

Tortuga is located in the Punta Guarico region, in the central-east section of the Caribbean map. It’s accessible as soon as you have the Jackdaw and there is no story gating required to visit. When you arrive, sync the single Viewpoint first to pin all collectible markers to your map before starting any cleanup.

Where Is the Tortuga Mayan Stelae?

The stelae is on the western part of Tortuga, near the sandy beach. Multiple sources confirm it sits close to the shore on the west side — it’s one of the easier stelae to spot once you’re in the right area, as the pillar is visible from the beach approach. Sync the Viewpoint and the marker will appear on your map. Head west from the Viewpoint and follow the coast until you reach the pillar.

Deal With the Enemies First

Enemies patrol around the Tortuga stelae, and Dualshockers specifically flags this as something to handle before starting the puzzle. The standard approach applies: fight them directly, stealth takedown from the bushes, or hit them with Sleep Darts to drop them instantly. Once the immediate area is clear, you can climb the pillar without any risk of being interrupted mid-solve.

How to Solve the Tortuga Mayan Stelae Puzzle

Climb to the top of the pillar and press the interaction button (Triangle on PS / Y on Xbox) to activate the puzzle. Here’s the solution:

• Flip the overlay almost fully — rotate it close to a complete 180 degrees using the right stick.
• Line up the two circles that sit on the same straight line with the top pillar and the right pillar in the ruins below you.
• Adjust scale as needed until all sections lock into the correct positions over the highlighted ground markers.
• The puzzle completes automatically once everything is aligned.

The key detail here is the near-full rotation. Most players instinctively try small adjustments first, but the Tortuga puzzle needs a much bigger flip than the earlier stelae in the series. Once you commit to rotating it close to 180 degrees, the two circles find their target pillars quickly.

Where Is the Dig Site After Solving?

This is worth flagging specifically for Tortuga. After the puzzle solves, the green dig marker appears at the tip of the straight white line of the puzzle shape — not directly at the base of the pillar. Look in the direction that the long straight line of the overlay points to find the marker on the ground. Climb down, head to that spot, and press the dig button to collect the Tortuga Mayan Stone.

Pick Up the Treasure Map on the Eastern Shore

While you’re on Tortuga, make sure you pick up the Treasure Map skeleton on the eastern shoreline at coordinates 851, 352. It’s on the beach next to a rowboat. The PowerPyx secrets guide confirms it as: loot the skeleton next to the rowboat. This map points to a buried chest at Matanzas (312, 617) — behind the waterfall, inside a small cave, next to the Mayan Stelae we covered in the Matanzas Mayan Stone walkthrough. The chest rewards the Mortar Storage Ultimate Plan and 3,000 Reales. That’s one of the six Ultimate Plans needed for full ship upgrades, so it’s worth tracking down as early as possible.

For a complete list of every treasure map pickup and dig location across the Caribbean, the treasure map locations guide has all 30 covered.

Get the Warehouse Painting

Tortuga has a warehouse on the western side of the island containing the “Map of the World” Painting. To get inside, you need the warehouse key. PowerPyx confirms the key is found in a banana box next to two guards and a haystack, also on the western side of the map. Grab the key, unlock the warehouse door, and loot the painting. It counts toward the island’s collectible total and contributes to the Art Collection in your Great Inagua Manor.

All Tortuga Collectibles

Tortuga has 9 collectibles in total, confirmed by PowerPyx’s dedicated Tortuga collectible page. Sync the Viewpoint first to reveal all markers:

• Viewpoint — Sync first to reveal all markers on the island.
• Mayan Stelae — Western side of the island near the sandy beach. Solve the puzzle and dig at the tip of the white line.
• Chest 1 — One of two standard money chests on the island.
• Chest 2 — The second money chest.
• Secret (Treasure Map) — Skeleton at the eastern shoreline at 851, 352, next to a rowboat. Leads to the Mortar Storage Ultimate Plan at Matanzas.
• Secret (Manuscript “Crónicas dos Feitos de Guiné”) — On the left side of a house on the island.
• Secret (Letter “What the Voices Saide”) — Below a palm tree on the north side of the map.
• Huntable Animal — One huntable animal on the island for crafting materials.
• Painting (“Map of the World”) — Inside the warehouse on the western side. Key found in a banana box near two guards and a haystack.

Completing all 9 collectibles marks Tortuga at 100% on its island completion tracker. Nothing here is missable — free-roam continues after the main story if you want to come back.
