Tortuga is located in the Punta Guarico region, in the central-east section of the Caribbean map. It’s accessible as soon as you have the Jackdaw and there is no story gating required to visit. When you arrive, sync the single Viewpoint first to pin all collectible markers to your map before starting any cleanup.

Where Is the Tortuga Mayan Stelae?

The stelae is on the western part of Tortuga, near the sandy beach. Multiple sources confirm it sits close to the shore on the west side — it’s one of the easier stelae to spot once you’re in the right area, as the pillar is visible from the beach approach. Sync the Viewpoint and the marker will appear on your map. Head west from the Viewpoint and follow the coast until you reach the pillar.

Deal With the Enemies First

Enemies patrol around the Tortuga stelae, and Dualshockers specifically flags this as something to handle before starting the puzzle. The standard approach applies: fight them directly, stealth takedown from the bushes, or hit them with Sleep Darts to drop them instantly. Once the immediate area is clear, you can climb the pillar without any risk of being interrupted mid-solve.

How to Solve the Tortuga Mayan Stelae Puzzle

Climb to the top of the pillar and press the interaction button (Triangle on PS / Y on Xbox) to activate the puzzle. Here’s the solution:

• Flip the overlay almost fully — rotate it close to a complete 180 degrees using the right stick.
• Line up the two circles that sit on the same straight line with the top pillar and the right pillar in the ruins below you.
• Adjust scale as needed until all sections lock into the correct positions over the highlighted ground markers.
• The puzzle completes automatically once everything is aligned.

The key detail here is the near-full rotation. Most players instinctively try small adjustments first, but the Tortuga puzzle needs a much bigger flip than the earlier stelae in the series. Once you commit to rotating it close to 180 degrees, the two circles find their target pillars quickly.

While you’re on Tortuga, make sure you pick up the Treasure Map skeleton on the eastern shoreline at coordinates 851, 352. It’s on the beach next to a rowboat. Get the Warehouse Painting

Tortuga has a warehouse on the western side of the island containing the “Map of the World” Painting. To get inside, you need the warehouse key.
