TL;DR
- Bran’s Request is a Chapter 3 Hernand Commissions Faction Quest — short, simple, worth doing early
- Pick up Bran’s Poster from the Goldleaf Guildhouse Notice Board, southeast of Hernand Town
- Find Bran at his Tannery on the east side of Hernand, along the path toward the church
- Interact with the spinning wheel to his right, turn it right, then mash the interact button to build speed
- Keep spinning until your stamina is fully depleted — stopping early is why most players get stuck
- Rewards: Thin Hide x1, Trust +50, Hernand Contribution Exp +30, and a Medium Bag (3 extra inventory slots)
- Completing this quest also unlocks Bruna’s Request, the next Hernand Commission in the chain
Bran’s Request is one of the fastest quests in Crimson Desert. It takes two minutes start to finish. But a surprising number of players get stuck on the spinning wheel step — the quest objective just does not advance, and the game gives no hint about why.
The answer is simple: you are stopping too early. This guide walks through every step, including exactly how to spin the wheel so the objective registers correctly.
How to Unlock Bran’s Request
Bran’s Request becomes available at the start of Chapter 3 as part of the Hernand Commissions Faction Quests.
To pick it up, head to the Goldleaf Guildhouse Notice Board, located at the Goldleaf Guildhouse near Unicorn Cliff — southeast of Hernand Town. You can also check the main Hernand Town Notice Board, as Bran’s Poster can appear on either board.
Look for Bran’s Poster — a flyer advertising a spinning wheel for sale. Interact with it and read it to add Bran’s Request to your quest log.
The poster reads something like: a spinning wheel is for sale, it has been well-maintained, and only the right buyer at a fair price will be considered. Bran wants someone who will appreciate it.
If the poster is not showing up on the board yet, progress further in the main story or complete a few other Hernand Commissions first. Faction requests often gate behind earlier completions in the chain.
To track the quest: Open Menu → Journal → Faction Quests → Hernand Commissions. Find Bran’s Request and toggle tracking on. The quest marker will guide you straight to his shop.
Where to Find Bran
Bran runs the Hernand Tannery, located on the east side of Hernand Town, along the same path that leads toward the church. You will spot animal skins hanging outside the building — that is the right place.
If you have the Hernand Abyss Nexus unlocked as a fast travel point, use it to warp straight into town and walk east from there. It saves time over riding in from outside.
How to Complete Bran’s Request
Step 1: Talk to Bran
Walk into the Tannery and speak with Bran. He will mention that the spinning wheel is a little worn but still worth buying — if you can prove you know how to use it. He asks you to give it a test spin to demonstrate.
Step 2: Find the Spinning Wheel
The spinning wheel is to your immediate right as you face Bran. Walk up to the handle and look for the interaction prompt. You will see an option to grab the Handwheel.
Step 3: Spin the Wheel — Do Not Stop Early
This is the step that trips up most players.
- Interact with the wheel to grab the handle
- Press Right on the D-Pad to begin turning it clockwise
- Then rapidly mash the interact button — A on Xbox, X on PlayStation — to build up speed
- Keep pressing consistently and do not slow down
- Spin until your stamina bar is fully depleted
The objective will not advance if you stop before your stamina runs out. The game treats this like a stamina-based minigame — it expects you to go all the way. Many players give the wheel a few turns, see nothing happen, and walk away thinking it is bugged. It is not bugged. Just keep going.
Even if you run out of stamina mid-spin, keep pressing the button. The objective should complete once enough spinning has been registered.

Step 4: Speak to Bran Again
Once the spinning objective completes, return to Bran and talk to him. He will react with genuine surprise — the wheel spun far better than he expected. Now that he sees it works so well, he has decided he does not want to sell it after all.
It seems like Kliff was put to work to get the wheel moving again rather than actually buying it. Either way, the quest ends here and you collect your rewards.
Bran’s Request Rewards
| Reward | Amount |
|---|---|
| Thin Hide | x1 |
| Trust with Bran | +50 |
| Hernand Contribution Exp | +30 |
| Medium Bag | 3 extra inventory slots |
The Medium Bag is the most valuable reward here. Inventory space in Crimson Desert is tight early on, and every request that gives you a bag is worth prioritising. For more on managing your space efficiently, see our guide on how to increase inventory space in Crimson Desert.
After completing the quest, speaking to Bran again opens up his shop. He sells Small Bags (1 extra inventory slot each), Thick Hide, Short Hair Hide, and Sturdy Hide — all useful crafting materials for early-game gear upgrades.
Why This Quest Matters Beyond the Reward
Bran’s Request is a prerequisite for Bruna’s Request, which is one of the more involved — and more rewarding — Hernand Commissions. Bruna’s Request requires you to infiltrate Lioncrest Manor and rewards another Medium Bag along with Iron Ore and Contribution Exp. You will not see Bruna’s poster on the notice board until Bran’s (and Alden’s) Request are both done. For the full walkthrough see our Crimson Desert Bruna’s Request quest guide.
Completing Hernand Commissions in general is one of the fastest ways to stack inventory space early in the game. Almost every merchant request in the chain hands out a Medium Bag. Running through them in order can give you well over 120 inventory slots before mid-game. See our Crimson Desert best items early guide for more on what to prioritise.
Other Hernand Commissions Worth Doing Alongside This
While you are in Hernand picking up Bran’s Request, check both notice boards for any other available commissions. Two boards serve the area — the main Hernand Town Notice Board in the town square and the Goldleaf Guildhouse Notice Board. Some quests only appear on one of the two, so always check both.

Where to Play Crimson Desert
Bran’s Request is over in a couple of minutes once you know not to stop spinning early. Grab the poster, head to his Tannery, mash the interact button until your stamina hits zero, and collect your Medium Bag. Then get back to the notice board — Bruna’s Request and a stack of other Hernand Commissions are waiting. For everything else in the game, head to our Crimson Desert guides hub.
