The Lucon Large Shield is a T4 Large Shield. It is described as an ornately decorated shield with jewels embedded in it — though the game notes that all the jewels are finely crafted imitations. Its showy appearance has made many warriors ignore it, but the stats speak for themselves.
It has 27 Defense and a Guard Rate of 50, which is actually the highest Guard Rate among T4 Large Shields. That Guard Rate matters a lot for blocking efficiency. It means your blocks absorb more of an incoming hit and your stamina holds up better when you are eating pressure from enemies.
The downside is movement speed reduction, which is standard for all large shields in the game. You will feel slightly slower with it equipped, especially compared to smaller shields.
It does not come with any built-in special effects or Abyss Gear bonuses out of the box, which keeps it simple. What you get is straightforward and reliable defense. It is a solid early-to-mid-game option while you work toward stronger shields with extra effects.

Where Is the Lucon Large Shield?
The shield is found in a hidden basement inside Beighen Candlery. Beighen Candlery is a small settlement located south of Pailune and north of Hernand.
The underground entrance is through a trapdoor inside a red shed near a torii gate at the edge of town. The shed is easy to miss because it has no label and looks like background scenery with an empty wagon parked under the canopy and straw bales around it.
How to Get the Lucon Large Shield — Step by Step
Step 1: Fast Travel to the Black Wall Abyss Nexus
Open your map and fast travel to the Black Wall Abyss Nexus. It is located directly east of the “A” in Pailune on the map. This is the closest travel point to your destination.
Step 2: Head South to Beighen Candlery
From the Abyss Nexus, ride or run south until you reach Beighen Candlery. It is a small town so it will not take long to get there.
Step 3: Find the Red Shed Near the Torii Gate
Once you arrive at Beighen Candlery, look around the edges of the settlement for a red shed positioned near a torii gate. You will notice an empty wagon parked under the canopy and straw bales stacked nearby. Walk inside the shed.
Step 4: Open the Trapdoor
Inside the shed, look at the floor. There is a trapdoor. Interact with it to open it, then climb down the stairs into the basement below.
Step 5: Crouch Through the Wall Opening
At the bottom of the ladder, look for a small hole in the wall right next to the ladder. It is low to the ground. Crouch down and move through it to enter the hidden room.
Step 6: Open the Chest
Inside the hidden room, you will find a treasure chest. Open it to claim the Lucon Large Shield. That is everything — no enemies to fight, no puzzle to solve.
It is worth exploring the rest of the basement too. The area also contains a collection of other weapons mounted on the walls, including swords, greatswords, hammers, and greataxes. It is a nice bonus on top of the shield pickup.
How to Craft the Lucon Large Shield
If you do not want to travel there or you miss the chest, there is a second way to get this shield. You can craft it at a Blacksmith once you have read the Shields of the World Vol. III crafting manual. The manual unlocks the recipe, and then you can produce the shield using the required materials.

Is the Lucon Large Shield Worth Using?
