Crimson Desert: How to Get the Collectibles Chest

The Collectibles Chest in Crimson Desert is one of the most useful storage upgrades added in patch 1.04.00. It gives you a dedicated 1,000-slot container specifically for quest items, blueprints, and crafting recipes — the exact clutter that eats through your inventory faster than anything else in the game.

Before this chest existed, you had to either carry all those books, notes, keys, and recipe scrolls in your main bag or make painful decisions about what to delete. The Collectibles Chest solves that problem entirely. Here is how to get it.

Prerequisites: Complete House Roberts Faction Quests First

The Early Encounter quest does not appear automatically. It unlocks only after you have made enough progress through the House Roberts Faction Quests in Hernand.

If you have been following the main story through Hernand and working through the faction questlines naturally, this should unlock on its own. If the quest is not showing up in your journal under Hernand Requests, keep completing House Roberts tasks until it appears. There is no specific number of quests listed, so just keep progressing and it will trigger.

You also need your Home at the Howling Hill Camp to be available before you can use the chest after getting it. The home becomes accessible from Chapter 3 onward, just east of the cliff at Howling Hill.

How to Get the Collectibles Chest: Early Encounter Quest

Once the Early Encounter quest is available, here are the steps to complete it and claim the chest:

1. Open your journal and find the Early Encounter quest under Hernand Requests.
2. Travel to Timberturner Wainwright, located north of the Nas River. A Servant NPC will call out to you when you arrive. He will tell you that Count Roberts has prepared something for you.
3. Follow the quest and head to Timberham Sawmill, located southwest of Hernand Town.
4. Speak with the Noble at the sawmill. He will reward you with the Collectibles Chest.

That is the full quest. It is short and straightforward. The chest goes directly into your inventory once you receive it.

How to Place the Collectibles Chest in Your Home

The chest only works once you place it inside your home using Build Mode. Here is how to do that:

1. Travel to your Home at the Howling Hill Camp (east of the cliff, unlocked from Chapter 3).
2. Inside the home, press Options on PlayStation or Start on Xbox to enter Build Mode.
3. Press Square on PlayStation or X on Xbox to open your list of placeable items.
4. Find the Collectibles Chest in the list and select it.
5. Place it on any valid floor tile inside the home.
6. Exit Build Mode by pressing Options / Start again.
7. Walk up to the chest and interact with it to start using it.

If you move your residence to a later-game area like Pailune, you can move the chest to your new home as well. The furniture carries with you.

What Can the Collectibles Chest Store?

The Collectibles Chest is a dedicated container for the Documents category introduced in patch 1.04.00. It will not accept weapons, armour, food, or crafting materials. Those go in other storage items.

Here is what you can store in it:

• Quest Items — chapter keys, talismans, faction items, and other story-related loot
• Blueprints and Crafting Recipes — learned recipe scrolls and construction blueprints
• Books, Notes, and Lore Documents — found throughout the world
• Bounty Posters and other collectible papers

Recipe scrolls and faction quest items have no resell value but are risky to delete since some become relevant later. The Collectibles Chest is the right place for all of them. With 1,000 slots, you are unlikely to fill it up.

Unlike the Sturdy Gatherables Chest or the Kuku Cooler, the Collectibles Chest does not interact with crafting or cooking. It is purely a storage container. But that is exactly what it needs to be — a clean, out-of-the-way home for items that have no other place to go.

Other Storage Chests Added in Patch 1.04.00

The Collectibles Chest is one of four new storage items added in patch 1.04.00. If you are organising your home properly, you will want all of them:

• Collectibles Chest — 1,000 slots for quest items and recipes. Quest reward (this guide).

All four chests are placed through the same Build Mode in your home. Setting them all up early makes the mid and late game significantly less painful to manage.

Tips for Managing Your Inventory with the Collectibles Chest

• Do a full clean-up sweep the moment you get it. Go through your inventory and move every blueprint, recipe scroll, and quest item into the chest immediately. You will free up a surprising number of slots in one go.
• Do not delete recipe scrolls before you have the chest. They tend to pile up and eat slots, but they are worth keeping. The chest is the right home for them.
• Use the Lock feature added in patch 1.04.00 to lock essential tools and weapons so they do not accidentally get sorted into storage containers.
• There is no weight limit. Storage in Crimson Desert is slot-based, not weight-based, so you can fill all 1,000 slots without any penalty.
