Crimson Desert: How to Find Wooly in the Missing Companion Quest

Missing Companion is the 23rd main quest in Crimson Desert. It is part of Chapter 2 — Golden Greed, under the Hernand in Chaos sub-chapter. On the surface, it looks like a simple errand for a crying child. But it quietly sets up a much bigger story tied to the surviving Greymanes.

Here is everything you need to know to finish it fast.

How to Start the Missing Companion Quest

The quest starts at the Springtide Mill Notice Board, south of Hernand town. You will see a posted flyer that reads:

“Please find my friend Wooly! — Willian, Wooly’s Friend”

Pick it up and examine it to trigger the quest. If you have not liberated Springtide Mill yet, do that first to unlock the notice board.

After picking up the flyer, head southeast to Bloomwood Ranch. That is where you will find Willian, a young boy who is upset because his sheep was taken. He will only be there during the daytime. If you arrive at night, look for a bed or bonfire and rest to skip time. Our guide on how to change time of day in Crimson Desert can help with that.

Speak to Willian. He tells you that some bad men took Wooly after a rock fell from the sky. He is clearly distressed. Kliff, being Kliff, decides to help.

Gather Information About Wooly

Before heading to the bandit camp, talk to the two herders standing across the road, south of Bloomwood Ranch. They will mention the bandit camp and point you in the right direction.

You can also speak to the children nearby. They do not give you any new leads, but they will run back to Willian to help him look. It is a small touch that adds to the story.

Once you talk to the herders, the quest will update and mark the bandit camp on your map automatically.

Wooly’s Location — The Bandit Camp

Wooly is being held at a bandit camp south of the Nas River, across from the Nas River Fishing Dock. The camp sits on a hill on the other side of the river. If you zoom in on your map, you will spot a small sheep icon — that is exactly where you need to go.

The camp is heavily guarded. Expect a lot of bandits, and do not rush in without a plan. Check out our best early build guide if you are struggling with the difficulty at this point in the game.

Tips for clearing the camp:

  • Take out enemies in small groups. Do not pull the whole camp at once.
  • Watch out for the berserkers — the ones with greatclubs and twin axes. They hit hard and can chain-stun you if you are not careful.
  • Use Blinding Flash or ranged attacks to interrupt their combos before they get going.
  • There is one bandit in the camp who performs a Dropkick. Let him do it three times so you can observe and learn the skill. Kill him last on purpose — it is worth it.
  • After clearing the camp, look for two chests near the sheep pen. Note that looting them counts as a crime for Kliff, so grab them only if you do not mind the consequence.
  • There is also a Palmar Pill near the bonfire, which is safe to pick up. Our Palmar Pills guide explains what they do.

Finding Wooly Inside the Camp

Once all the bandits are down, head to the enclosure at the center of the camp. You will find a sheep in a pen there.

There is something unsettling about this part. The camp is full of butchered meat hanging to dry. It is pretty clear the bandits have been stealing sheep for food. Whether the sheep in the pen is actually Wooly is genuinely unclear.

Either way, sling the sheep over your shoulder and head back north to Willian.

If the sheep is not in the pen: Do not panic. Rest at a nearby campfire or bed to reset the quest area. The sheep should appear after that.

Returning to Willian

You can use your horse to make the trip back faster. Mount up while carrying the sheep and ride north to Bloomwood Ranch.

When you speak to Willian with the sheep in tow, he takes one look at her and says — that is not Wooly. His Wooly has a fluffier tail. He gets upset for a moment but holds himself together.

He then tells you something important: a Mr. Greymane has already promised to get the real Wooly back. He also mentions this Greymane has been quietly helping the people of the settlement, though he tends to be drunk most of the time.

Willian eventually accepts the wrong sheep as his new companion, giving her a new home. The quest ends here.

After the quest wraps up, Willian walks you to the last place he saw the Greymane. But you two cannot find him. This is intentional — it feeds directly into the next set of Chapter 2 quests. Check out our full list of main story quests to see what comes next.
