Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Build Guide – Honkai Star Rail 4.3

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Build Guide for Honkai Star Rail 4.3 – best Light Cones, Relics, stat priorities, team comps, and Eidolons to maximise this Imaginary hypercarry DPS.

Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae (DHIL) is one of the most powerful hypercarry DPS characters in Honkai Star Rail, and he remains a strong Imaginary carry in patch 4.3. Dan Heng’s true form from his Vidyadhara lineage carries residual power from the legendary sinner Imbibitor Lunae — and with majestic horns and absurd ATK multipliers to match, he is a force of nature in the right team. This Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae build guide covers everything — best Light Cones, Relics, stat priorities, team compositions, and Eidolons — to get the most out of him in the current patch.

TL;DR – Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Build Summary (4.3)

  • DHIL is a 5-star Imaginary Destruction hypercarry DPS who enhances his Basic ATK up to 3 times per turn
  • Best Light Cone: Thus Burns the Dawn (current BiS) or Brighter Than the Sun (his signature)
  • Best Relic Set: Poet of Mourning Collapse (4-piece) with Sparkle or Sunday, or Wastelander of Banditry Desert (4-piece) for flexible builds

Who Is Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae?

Dan Heng • Imbibitor Lunae is a 5-star character following the Path of Destruction with the Imaginary element. He is Dan Heng’s true Vidyadhara form — the High Elder incarnation that carries the residual power and burden of the Imbibitor Lunae, a sinner of immense legend on the Xianzhou Luofu. Upon accepting the majestic horns atop his crown, he must accept all the merits and faults attributed to that past life.

On the battlefield, DHIL is the premier Imaginary hypercarry. His entire kit revolves around consuming Skill Points to enhance his Basic ATK up to 3 times in a single action, transforming a simple 2-hit attack into a devastating 7-hit Blast that deals up to 500% ATK to a primary target and additional hits to adjacent enemies. Each enhancement tier dramatically increases both the multiplier and the number of hits, with his Talent providing stacking CRIT DMG on every hit landed.

The cost of this power is SP. DHIL can consume up to 3 Skill Points per turn to fully enhance his attack. Without dedicated SP-generating supports like Sparkle or Sunday with his signature cone, sustaining maximum output every single turn is extremely difficult. Understanding and managing this SP economy is the entire challenge of playing DHIL.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Skills and Abilities

Basic ATK – Beneficent Lotus (and Enhanced Forms)

DHIL’s Basic ATK has four tiers, each accessed by using the Skill to enhance it:

  • Beneficent Lotus (0 enhancements): 2-hit single target, 100% ATK. Only used when no SP is available
  • Transcendence (1 enhancement): 3-hit single target, 260% ATK. Costs 1 SP
  • Divine Spear (2 enhancements): 5-hit Blast, 380% ATK to main target + 60% to adjacents from hit 4 onward. Costs 2 SP
  • Fulgurant Leap (3 enhancements): 7-hit Blast, 500% ATK to main target + 75% to adjacents from hit 4 onward. Costs 3 SP. Starting from hit 4, each hit grants 1 stack of Outroar (CRIT DMG per stack) from the Skill effect

The goal is always to use Fulgurant Leap as often as possible. It is a colossal spike of single-turn damage — one of the highest per-action multipliers in the game.

Skill – Dracore Libre

Enhances the next Basic ATK by one tier. Does not consume Skill Points — instead, it enables spending SP on the Basic ATK that follows. Up to 3 uses stack. Using Divine Spear or Fulgurant Leap grants stacks of Outroar, each increasing CRIT DMG by 12%, stacking up to 8 times (at E1). These stacks expire at the end of his turn.

Ultimate – Azure’s Aqua Ablutes All

Deals Imaginary Blast DMG (3-hit, 210% ATK to main target + 75% to adjacents) and grants 2 Squama Sacrosancta. Squama Sacrosancta function as substitute Skill Points that only DHIL can use. They allow him to enhance his Basic ATK without taking from the team’s shared SP pool. Costs 140 Energy — a fairly high cost, so building toward faster Energy cycling helps. Holding up to 2 Squama at a time, his Ultimate is a crucial resource management tool.

Talent – Righteous Heart

After each hit during an attack, DHIL gains 1 stack of Righteous Heart, increasing his DMG by 6% per stack, stacking up to 6 times (10 at E1). These stacks last until the end of his turn. Fulgurant Leap fires 7 hits and generates Outroar stacks from the Skill — by the final hits, DHIL has accumulated significant self-buffs making the last hits substantially stronger than the first.

Technique – Heaven-Quelling Prismadrakon

Enters a Leaping Dragon state before combat for 20 seconds, allowing rapid movement and blocking all incoming enemy attacks. Upon entering combat via Leaping Dragon, deals Imaginary AoE DMG to all enemies and grants 1 Squama Sacrosancta. Always use this before fights — the free Squama is a meaningful resource that reduces the SP pressure on the first wave.

Major Traces

  • Star Veil (A2): At battle start, immediately regenerates 15 Energy. This gives DHIL a meaningful head start on reaching his first Ultimate, especially important given the 140 Energy cost
  • Aqua Reign (A4): Increases the chance to resist Crowd Control debuffs by 35%. A defensive quality-of-life trace that keeps him functional in fights with heavy CC
  • Jolt Anew (A6): CRIT DMG increases by 24% when dealing DMG to enemies with Imaginary Weakness. A significant passive CRIT DMG bonus that applies automatically whenever enemies are Imaginary-weak — which Imaginary characters can implant via Weakness Break. In teams with Silver Wolf, this applies reliably in any fight

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Best Light Cones (4.3)

1. Thus Burns the Dawn (Current Best in Slot)

Phainon‘s signature Light Cone holds the highest ATK stat (688) of any Destruction cone in the game, directly amplifying every hit of DHIL’s Enhanced Basic. It also provides an 18% DEF ignore on all attacks and a 60% DMG buff that activates after using Ultimate — timed perfectly to cover the subsequent Fulgurant Leap. If you have this cone available, it is DHIL’s strongest option in 4.3.

2. Brighter Than the Sun (DHIL’s Signature)

DHIL’s own signature Light Cone and his historically best-in-slot choice before patch 4.3. It provides +30% CRIT Rate and, when he uses any Basic ATK, he gains a stack of Dragon’s Call (up to 2 turns) — each stack gives +30% ATK and +10% Energy Regeneration Rate. The Energy Regen helps close the gap on his 140-cost Ultimate. An excellent choice if you have it, and still fully competitive. The Dragon’s Call ATK stacking per Basic ATK use synergises perfectly with his playstyle.

3. On the Fall of an Aeon (5-Star F2P from Herta’s Store)

Provides ATK% that stacks whenever the wearer inflicts Weakness Break, plus a permanent ATK% bonus from the 4-piece. Acquirable from Herta’s Store for free using Undying Embers. A solid accessible option that performs better than most 4-star alternatives. DHIL’s high Toughness damage means he Breaks frequently, activating the stacking bonus reliably.

4. Flames Afar (4-Star)

Provides a DMG bonus when the wearer’s HP drops below 80%. DHIL does not self-drain HP but may take damage in fights — the threshold is not always active. Usable as a transitional option.

5. A Secret Vow (4-Star Budget)

ATK% bonus plus a DMG% buff against enemies with higher max HP — usually active against bosses. A workable F2P fallback while farming for better options.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Best Relic Sets (4.3)

Poet of Mourning Collapse (4-Piece) – Best with Action-Advance Supports

The current best-in-slot relic set for DHIL when running Sparkle or Sunday as action-advance supports. The 4-piece grants CRIT Rate bonuses when the wearer’s SPD is below the threshold for each battle — specifically, the set grants +8% CRIT Rate and an additional +20% CRIT Rate when SPD does not exceed the target value before the first action. In DHIL’s case, because Sparkle or Sunday advance his actions forward without needing him to have high SPD, intentionally keeping his SPD low activates the full bonus. This effectively grants up to +28% CRIT Rate for free — an enormous boost. Only use this set if you have a dedicated action-advance support. The CRIT Rate bonus does not activate otherwise.

Wastelander of Banditry Desert (4-Piece) – Best Flexible Option

The historically best relic set for DHIL and still excellent in flexible team compositions. The 2-piece gives +10% Imaginary DMG. The 4-piece provides +10% CRIT Rate when attacking debuffed enemies, and +20% CRIT DMG when attacking Imprisoned enemies. Imprisonment is applied via Imaginary Weakness Break — and DHIL deals enormous Toughness damage, so this triggers frequently. No SPD restriction, works in any team, and the bonuses are meaningful. Use this set if you do not have Sparkle or Sunday to enable the Poet set.

Musketeer of Wild Wheat (4-Piece) – Accessible Alternative

A clean, farmable fallback set. +12% ATK (2-piece), +6% SPD, and +10% Basic ATK DMG (4-piece). Less ceiling than the above options but no conditional requirements whatsoever. Good for players still building toward a full Wastelander or Poet set.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Best Planar Ornaments (4.3)

Rutilant Arena (Best)

The definitive Planar Ornament for DHIL. The 2-piece gives +8% CRIT Rate. When the wearer’s CRIT Rate reaches 70% or higher, Basic ATK and Skill DMG increase by 20%. Since DHIL’s entire damage output flows through his Enhanced Basic ATKs, this 20% DMG bonus is active for almost every attack he lands. Reach the 70% CRIT Rate threshold from gear and this ornament unlocks a permanent, unconditional damage multiplier on all of his most important hits.

Inert Salsotto (Alternative)

Provides +8% CRIT Rate and, when CRIT Rate exceeds 50%, increases Ultimate and Follow-Up DMG by 15%. Less directly impactful than Rutilant Arena for DHIL since his Ultimate is not his primary damage source, but a usable alternative if your Salsotto pieces have significantly better substats.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Best Stats and Substats (4.3)

Main Stats

  • Body: CRIT DMG (DHIL has strong innate CRIT Rate from traces and sets — lean into CRIT DMG)
  • Boots: ATK% when running action-advance supports; SPD (134) when not
  • Planar Sphere (Orb): Imaginary DMG Boost
  • Link Rope: ATK%

Substat Priority

  • CRIT Rate (reach 70% to activate Rutilant Arena — first priority)
  • CRIT DMG (stack as high as possible after CRIT Rate target is met)
  • ATK% and Flat ATK
  • SPD (only needed if not running Sparkle or Sunday action advance)

Two Playstyle Approaches

DHIL has two distinct build philosophies in 4.3:

  • Slow and Powerful (with Sparkle/Sunday): Keep SPD low (often below 135), skip SPD boots entirely, use Poet of Mourning Collapse for the full CRIT Rate bonus. Sparkle or Sunday advance his actions so SPD is irrelevant. Maximum damage ceiling but requires specific supports
  • Balanced (without action advance): Build 134+ SPD with SPD boots, use Wastelander or Musketeer, run the alternating x3/x0 Enhanced Basic rotation (one full-power turn, one Basic ATK turn) to manage SP economy. Roughly 30–40% lower ceiling but accessible to players without Sparkle or Sunday

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Best Team Compositions (4.3)

Best Team: DHIL, Sparkle, Sunday/Dan Heng Permansor Terrae, Sustain

Sparkle is DHIL’s single best support and has been since her release — tailor-made for his playstyle. She generates SP, provides CRIT DMG amplification, and advances his actions on a tight 3-turn rotation. Combining her with Sunday (second action advance + CRIT DMG buff) or Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae (Imaginary synergy, summon sub-DPS) creates an environment where DHIL can use Fulgurant Leap nearly every single turn. The sustain slot can be Aventurine, Luocha, or Huohuo depending on what you own.

Premium Alternative: DHIL, Sunday, Tribbie, Dan Heng Permansor Terrae

Sunday alone — especially with his signature cone — provides enough SP and action advance for DHIL to run x3 Enhanced Basics every turn without Sparkle. Tribbie adds universal RES PEN and follow-up damage. Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae contributes his own Imaginary sub-DPS and notably shares the Souldragon bond with Sunday, amplifying both their outputs simultaneously.

Strong Alternative: DHIL, Sparkle, Ruan Mei, Huohuo/Luocha

A slightly more accessible setup. Sparkle handles SP and action advance. Ruan Mei provides Break Efficiency, SPD buffs, and DMG% amplification. Huohuo or Luocha sustains. A very solid team for Memory of Chaos that does not require Sunday or Dan Heng PT.

F2P Team: DHIL, Tingyun, Hanya/Pela, Gallagher/Luocha

For players without premium supports. Tingyun provides ATK% buffs and Energy Regeneration, helping DHIL cycle his Ultimate. Pela or Hanya offer DEF shred and utility. Run the alternating enhanced rotation (x3 Fulgurant Leap one turn, Basic ATK the next) to manage SP without dedicated SP generators. Noticeably lower output than premium setups, but fully functional for content progression.

Supports That Work Well With DHIL

  • Sparkle – Best-in-slot partner; SP generation, CRIT DMG, action advance
  • Sunday – Strong SP support with signature cone; action advance and CRIT DMG buffs
  • Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae – Sub-DPS synergy; Sunday interaction; Imaginary element alignment
  • Tribbie – Universal RES PEN and HP-scaling follow-ups; no SP cost
  • Ruan Mei – Break and SPD support, accessible and strong
  • Tingyun – ATK buff and Energy Regen; best 4-star support for DHIL
  • Silver Wolf – Imaginary Weakness implant to activate A6 Trace consistently
  • Luocha – SP-positive healer; critical for DHIL since it leaves all SP for him

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Eidolons – Are They Worth It?

E1 – Tethered to Sky

Increases the stackable Righteous Heart count by 4 (from 6 to 10 stacks) and gains 1 extra stack per hit during an attack. More Righteous Heart stacks means higher DMG% on every hit of Fulgurant Leap, and with 7 hits it accumulates fast. A notable sustained damage increase in longer fights and rotations.

E2 – Imperium On Cloud Nine

After using his Ultimate, DHIL’s action is advanced forward by 100% and gains 1 extra Squama Sacrosancta. The 100% action advance is transformative — it functions like an extra turn every time he uses his Ultimate, essentially doubling his output window. Combined with the extra Squama resource, E2 is widely considered the single most impactful Eidolon for DHIL and the definitive investment target.

E4 – Zephyr’s Bliss

The Outroar CRIT DMG buff lasts until the end of his next turn rather than expiring at the end of the current turn. This means Outroar stacks built during Fulgurant Leap carry forward and apply to the subsequent attack as well. A meaningful quality-of-life upgrade that smooths out his rotation damage.

E6 – Reign, Returned

After any other ally uses their Ultimate, DHIL’s next Fulgurant Leap gains +20% Imaginary RES PEN, stacking up to 3 times. In teams where supports and sustain characters use Ultimates frequently, DHIL can reach 60% RES PEN bonus for one attack. An exceptional E6 for a fully committed player.

Recommended stopping point: E2. E0 is functional but requires specific supports to shine. E1 is a clean sustained damage upgrade. E2 is the game-changer — the 100% action advance after Ultimate essentially doubles his damage window. Target E2 as the priority investment milestone.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Rotation Guide

There are two main playstyles depending on available supports:

All-In Rotation (with Sparkle or Sunday + signature)

  1. Use the Technique before combat — gains 1 Squama Sacrosancta
  2. Sparkle or Sunday advances DHIL’s action. Use Fulgurant Leap (x3 Enhanced Basic — 3 SP or Squama). Accumulate Outroar and Righteous Heart stacks mid-attack for maximum CRIT DMG on final hits
  3. Use Ultimate when Energy allows (boosted by A2 Trace’s 15 Energy start and Brighter Than the Sun’s Dragon’s Call Energy Regen). Gain 2 Squama
  4. Repeat Fulgurant Leap using Squama Sacrosancta on the following turn if available
  5. Sparkle replenishes SP every 3 turns; sustain this loop continuously

Balanced Rotation (without dedicated SP support)

  1. Turn 1: Use Fulgurant Leap (spend 3 SP)
  2. Turn 2: Use Basic ATK (Beneficent Lotus, generate +1 SP) or Ultimate (gain 2 Squama). Recovery turn
  3. Turn 3: Use Fulgurant Leap again using recovered SP or Squama
  4. Alternate between full-power turns and recovery turns as SP allows

  • Ascension materials: Immortal Scionette, Immortal Aeroblossom, Immortal Lumintwig (Xianzhou Luofu drops), and Suppressing Edict (Stagnant Shadow)
  • Trace materials: Shattered Blade, Lifeless Blade, Worldbreaker Blade (Destruction Path materials) and Regret of Infinite Ochema
  • Boss material: Regret of Infinite Ochema from Phantylia the Undying (Echo of War)

Is Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae Worth Using in Patch 4.3?

Yes — with an important qualification. DHIL at his ceiling is one of the highest single-turn damage characters in the game. His Fulgurant Leap multipliers are enormous, his Outroar and Righteous Heart self-buffs compound into devastating finishers, and with E2 he effectively doubles his turn count through Ultimate action advance. In Memory of Chaos and Apocalyptic Shadow content with Imaginary-weak enemies, he remains a genuinely dominant DPS option.

The honest caveat: DHIL requires Sparkle or Sunday with his signature to sustain all-in play. Without them, he falls back to the alternating rotation which is serviceable but significantly weaker. Players who have the right supports should absolutely continue investing in him. Players building from scratch without Sparkle or Sunday may find newer carries easier to pilot at peak performance.

He was made available as a free reward for players during the 3.x era and is obtainable from the Character Purchase. For players who have him and have Sparkle or Sunday, he is absolutely worth fully building in 4.3.
