Forza Horizon 6 AstroToy Photo Challenge is a Spring season task in the Welcome to Japan Festival Playlist. You need to drive a Track Toy class car to the Irokawa Space Centre in the Nangan region and photograph it near the HZN-VI Rocket. It takes under five minutes once you know the spot.

What Is the AstroToy Photo Challenge in Forza Horizon 6?
The AstroToy Photo Challenge is one of the Spring season tasks inside the Welcome to Japan Festival Playlist. It appears in the playlist under the photo challenge section and shows a rocket ship in the preview image.
A lot of players get confused here. The picture makes it look like you need to photograph the rocket itself. That is not quite right. The real requirement is to photograph a Track Toy class car inside the Space Centre boundary. Including the HZN-VI Rocket in the frame is a good idea though, since it also counts toward your Discover Japan photography challenges.
Completing the challenge gives you 3 Festival Playlist points and unlocks the “Beam Me Up!” Forza Link phrase.
HZN-VI Rocket Location – Where to Find the Space Port
The rocket is located at the Irokawa Space Centre in the Nangan region, at the very southern tip of the Japan map. Open your map, switch to the region view, and look for Nangan at the bottom. The Space Centre sits near the long drag strip in that area.
If you have already completed the Orange Wristband Launch Control event, you have already driven through this exact location. It is also close to the Irokawa Circuit road race and the Nangan Cross-Country Circuit.
Once you arrive, you will see two rockets inside the space station. You want the larger one on the northern side. It sits on two support towers and has “HZN-VI” written on the body. That is the rocket you need in your shot.
Set a waypoint directly on the Space Centre to make navigation easier. You can also use Fast Travel to get there quickly if you have already discovered the area.
How to Choose the Right Car for the AstroToy Challenge
You must be driving a Track Toy class car. No other class will work. Before heading to the Space Centre, check your garage and filter by Track Toys.
Some Track Toy cars in Forza Horizon 6 include:
- 2014 BAC Mono
- 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
- 2008 Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR
- 2010 BMW M3
- 2016 BMW M4
- Nissan GT-R NISMO
If you do not own one, head to the Autoshow, filter the car list by Track Toys, and buy one. Some Track Toys are also available through Wheelspins and Super Wheelspins. Pick any car from this class — they all work for the challenge.
Do not confuse Track Toys with Extreme Track Toys. That is a separate class. If the challenge does not register after your photo, double-check you are in the correct class.
How to Take the Photo and Complete the Challenge
Once you arrive at the Irokawa Space Centre in your Track Toy, follow these steps:
- Park your car near the large HZN-VI Rocket on the northern side of the facility.
- Press Up on the D-Pad (or P on keyboard) to open Photo Mode.
- Move the camera so that your Track Toy and the HZN-VI Rocket are both clearly visible in the frame.
- Press A on Xbox or X on PlayStation to take the photo, or press RB / R1 to use Quickshot.
- Wait a moment for the game to register the challenge as complete.
Your car must be inside the Space Centre boundary for the photo to count. As long as you meet that condition with a Track Toy, the challenge registers immediately.

Bonus – Earn 100 Discover Japan Points at the Same Time
If this is your first time photographing the HZN-VI Rocket, you will also earn 100 Discover Japan Points for the Photography section of your Collection Journal. These stack separately from the Festival Playlist points.
This is worth doing intentionally. Make sure the larger HZN-VI Rocket is clearly in the background of your shot so both rewards trigger at once. Two challenges, one stop.

AstroToy Challenge Rewards Explained
Here is what you get for completing the AstroToy Photo Challenge:
- 3 Festival Playlist points toward your Spring season total.
- “Beam Me Up!” Forza Link phrase — unlocked automatically on completion.
- 100 Discover Japan Points — only if this is your first HZN-VI Rocket photo.
To equip the Forza Link phrase, open the pause menu, go to the Online tab, and select Forza Link. You will see the “Beam Me Up!” phrase listed among your unlocked options.
The season points matter. Spring is the final season of the Welcome to Japan playlist. You need 15 total points to unlock the 1996 Toyota Starlet Glanza V and 30 total points for the 1974 Toyota Corolla SR5. Every challenge counts toward those totals.

Common Issues and Quick Fixes
Challenge not registering? The most common reason is the wrong car class. Make sure you are in a standard Track Toy, not an Extreme Track Toy. Switch cars and retake the shot.
Car not in the boundary? Drive further into the Space Centre grounds. The boundary is generous, but parking right at the entrance sometimes does not trigger it.
Can’t find Track Toys in garage? Go to the Autoshow, filter by Track Toys, and buy the cheapest one available. You only need it for this photo — you can sell it after if you want.
