Halo Campaign Evolved: Two Betrayals Skulls & Terminal Locations

Halo Campaign Evolved Two Betrayals Skulls & Terminal Locations — find all 3 Skulls (Tough Luck, Black Eye, Mythic) and the Alone Terminal with this complete step-by-step guide.

Halo Campaign Evolved Two Betrayals Skulls & Terminal Locations include some of the most complex collectible encounters in the entire game. This is Mission 8 — a massive level that revisits and reverses Assault on the Control Room — and it hides the Tough Luck, Black Eye, and Mythic Skulls across its wide outdoor canyons and locked interior rooms. Two of these require a Banshee to reach. One spawns only after you clear an entire room of enemies. And the Mythic Skull sits behind a multi-step door sequence that most players never even discover exists.

  • TL;DR
  • Two Betrayals has 3 Skulls and 1 Terminal to collect.
  • The three Skulls are: Tough Luck, Black Eye, and Mythic.
  • The Terminal is called Alone — found right at the very start of the mission, before any objective.
  • The Alone Terminal is the easiest collectible — grab it in the first 60 seconds.
  • Tough Luck requires you to fly a Banshee up to a platform on the facility roof after the first Banshee handoff.
  • Black Eye is in the snow near the three bridge ramps — look in the back right corner after crossing them.
  • Mythic is the hardest — steal a Banshee, land on a roof terminal, unlock multiple doors, and clear two rooms of enemies before it spawns.
  • Collect in this order: Alone Terminal → Tough Luck → Black Eye → Mythic.
  • A Banshee is required for both Tough Luck and Mythic — do not lose yours early.

This guide covers all four collectibles in the order you encounter them. Get the game on Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam. If you are still working through the previous mission, our Library Skulls & Terminal Locations guide covers all of Mission 7’s collectibles in full.

Before You Start: Protect Your Banshees

Two Betrayals is vehicle-heavy, and two of the three Skulls require a Banshee to reach. The mission gives you multiple Banshee opportunities, but losing them to enemy fire at the wrong moment can lock you out of a Skull until you find or steal another.

The Tough Luck Skull requires the very first Banshee you receive in the mission. As soon as you get it, do not fly to the objective yet — fly straight up to a platform on the roof instead. The Mythic Skull requires a second Banshee that you steal later in the mission from a canyon split point. Plan accordingly.

Collect in this order: Alone Terminal → Tough Luck Skull → Black Eye Skull → Mythic Skull.

For the full achievement and trophy implications of collecting every Skull in the game, see our Halo Campaign Evolved achievement and trophy list.

Terminal: Alone — Location and Lore

Where to Find the Alone Terminal

The Alone Terminal is the easiest collectible in the mission. It is available within the very first minute of Two Betrayals if you know to look for it immediately.

When the mission begins, you start inside the facility with hostile Sentinel drones attacking you. Deal with the Sentinels first — clear the room. Once they are handled, do not follow the main objective forward.

Instead, turn around and face the large floating holographic planet display in the centre of the room. Follow the walkway that runs around either side of the hologram — left or right both work, as they meet on the far side. Walk all the way around to the opposite end of the hologram display.

At the far end, the Alone Terminal is waiting. Interact with it to unlock the lore entry. Once you have it, continue into the mission normally.

What Does the Alone Terminal Contain?

Like all Terminals in the game, Alone contains classified lore and story context that expands on events taking place beyond the main campaign narrative. It is the eighth Terminal in the game. Once collected, you can read it anytime from the Collectibles section of the main menu.

For broader story context across the full campaign, our Halo Campaign Evolved review guide covers the overall narrative in detail.

Skull #1: Tough Luck — Location and Effect

Where to Find the Tough Luck Skull

After the Terminal, progress through the mission. You will fight through the facility interior, disabling the first pulse generator, and then exit back outside. Once outside, you will receive a new objective and be directed to commandeer a Banshee and reach the upper landing.

Get in the Banshee. This is the critical moment. Do not fly to the waypoint yet. Instead, immediately fly the Banshee straight up, back toward the exterior of the building you just walked out of. Look for a platform on the upper section of the facility exterior, identifiable by a blue light in the centre of it.

Land the Banshee on that platform. The Tough Luck Skull is sitting right there in the middle of the platform. Interact with it to collect it. Then fly the Banshee back down and continue toward the mission objective.

This is a short detour — less than 30 seconds — but it requires knowing to go up instead of forward the moment you get the Banshee. If you fly toward the objective first and the Banshee gets destroyed, you will need to find or steal another one before you can reach this platform.

Tough Luck Skull Effect

  • Enemies go berserk — they dive out of the way of projectiles, charge you aggressively, and absolutely refuse to flee from combat.
  • Plasma grenades and explosives become much harder to use effectively as enemies constantly dodge.
  • Elite and Grunt behaviours become more chaotic and unpredictable.

Tough Luck turns every enemy into a fighter who never backs down. On higher difficulties, the constant evasion and aggression can make clearing rooms significantly harder since you cannot pin enemies down or flush them out with grenades as reliably. For how difficulty stacks with Skull modifiers, see our Halo Campaign Evolved difficulty differences guide.

Skull #2: Black Eye — Location and Effect

Where to Find the Black Eye Skull

The Black Eye Skull comes after you destroy the first pulse generator and push through toward the second. The mission takes you back through the snowy outdoor canyon area — a zone that will feel familiar if you played Assault on the Control Room. You are now reversing that route.

Keep following the objective. Eventually, after spending time in the canyon, you will exit through a set of doors back outside and see the three bridge-like ramp structures — the same ones from Mission 5. This is your landmark for the Black Eye Skull.

Cross over the middle bridge ramp and move to the other side of the structure. Once across, head to the back right corner of the area. There is a cluster of Flood infestation spores on the ground in that corner. The Black Eye Skull is sitting among those spores in the snow. Walk into the corner and interact to collect it.

You do not need a vehicle or a jump for this one. It is entirely ground-level. Just cross the ramps and head to the back right.

Black Eye Skull Effect

  • Your shields only recharge when you melee enemies.
  • Normal shield recharge over time is completely disabled.
  • Taking damage and staying alive requires you to actively get close and punch enemies to restore your defences.
  • Black Eye is a LASO-required Skull — one of the 17 needed to unlock that difficulty.

Black Eye is one of the most punishing Skulls in the game. On any difficulty above Easy, losing your shields and needing a melee to get them back creates enormous risk — especially against Flood, Hunters, or any enemy that keeps its distance. It is mandatory for LASO and worth understanding thoroughly before activating it on a run. For co-op strategies around tougher Skull combinations, see our Halo Campaign Evolved co-op players guide.

Skull #3: Mythic — Location and Effect

Where to Find the Mythic Skull

The Mythic Skull is the most involved collectible in the mission and one of the most elaborate Skull encounters in the entire game. It requires a Banshee, a rooftop terminal, multiple enemy clears, and three unlocked doors before the Skull will even spawn.

After picking up the Black Eye Skull, follow the objective marker deeper into the level. You will eventually push through more canyon terrain toward the next pulse generator. The canyon will split into two paths:

  • Right side: Flood and Hunters are fighting each other.
  • Left side: A Banshee is parked and available to steal.

Go left and steal the Banshee. Do not get drawn into the combat on the right. Once you have the Banshee, fly it straight up to the roof of the large structure in this area. On the left side of that roof, there is a terminal. Interact with it — this unlocks a door on the roof directly in front of the terminal.

Fly the Banshee through that freshly opened door and land inside. You are now in the first locked room. This room is filled with Flood, Elites, and Grunts wielding rocket launchers. Kill every enemy in the room. Once all enemies are eliminated, a second terminal activates inside the room. Interact with it to unlock the next door.

Go through the second door into a corridor. Push through it into the next room. This room also contains Flood. Kill every enemy again. Once this room is fully cleared, the Mythic Skull spawns at the central structure in the middle of the room. Walk up to it and interact to collect it.

Key things to keep in mind: the Skull only appears after the room is fully cleared — check every corner before concluding the area is done. Rocket-launcher Grunts in the first room hit very hard, so go in with full shields and ammo. The Banshee is useful for getting in fast but becomes a liability inside the tight corridors — go on foot once you are through the first door.

Mythic Skull Effect

  • All enemies receive a significant increase to their total health values.
  • This applies to every enemy type — Grunts, Jackals, Elites, Hunters, Flood, and Sentinels all take more damage to kill.
  • Combined with other challenge Skulls, Mythic makes the game dramatically more punishing.

Mythic is a cornerstone Skull for players who want to push the game’s difficulty further. On its own it just extends fights. Combined with Black Eye (shields only recharge via melee) and Tilt (amplified weapon type weaknesses), the game becomes a very different challenge. For how Skull stacking affects the campaign experience at a high level, see our Halo Campaign Evolved all missions list.

Tips for Getting All Collectibles in Two Betrayals

  • Get the Terminal in the opening room before going anywhere. Destroy the Sentinels, then walk around the holographic planet display. It takes 30 seconds and saves you a replay.
  • The first Banshee is for Tough Luck — go up immediately. The moment you get it, fly straight up to the platform on the exterior of the facility before flying toward the objective. Once you leave the area without grabbing it, recovering the Skull gets much harder.
  • Cross the middle ramp for Black Eye. After exiting the doors near the three bridge ramps, go over the centre bridge and head to the back right corner. Ground-level, no jumps required.
  • Steal the left-side Banshee for Mythic — do not fight the right-side enemies first. The Banshee on the left is your ticket to the rooftop terminal. Engaging the Flood vs Hunter fight on the right will cost you time and likely damage your Banshee.
  • For the Mythic room: kill absolutely everything. The Skull only spawns once every enemy in the second combat room is dead. Check every corner before concluding the fight is over. One surviving Infection Form can stop the Skull from appearing.
  • Bring Bandana if you have it. The Mythic Skull encounter includes rocket-wielding Grunts and a Flood-filled room. Infinite grenades from the Bandana Skull make those rooms significantly more manageable. If you still need it, our Silent Cartographer Skulls guide covers its location.
  • Skulls are permanently yours once grabbed. Dying right after collecting one still counts. Do not panic if you die to a rocket after grabbing Mythic — the collect is secure.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Many Skulls Are in Two Betrayals?

There are three Skulls in Two Betrayals: Tough Luck, Black Eye, and Mythic. Every main mission in Halo Campaign Evolved contains exactly three hidden Skulls.

How Many Terminals Are in Two Betrayals?

There is one Terminal in Two Betrayals, called Alone. It is found right at the start of the mission — walk around either side of the holographic planet display in the opening room before following any objective.

Is Black Eye Required for LASO?

Yes. Black Eye is one of the 17 Skulls required to unlock LASO difficulty. Do not skip it. It is found in the snow in the back right corner of the area with the three bridge ramp structures — after crossing the middle bridge.

Do I Need a Banshee for Two Betrayals Skulls?

Yes — for two of the three. The Tough Luck Skull requires flying the first mission Banshee up to a platform on the facility exterior. The Mythic Skull requires stealing a Banshee from the left side of a canyon split later in the mission and flying it to a rooftop terminal. The Black Eye Skull needs no vehicle at all.

Why Is the Mythic Skull Not Appearing?

The Mythic Skull only spawns once every enemy in the second combat room is dead. If you have cleared the room but the Skull has not appeared, at least one enemy is still alive — check corners, ceiling areas, and behind structures. The Skull will not appear until the room is fully empty.

What Does the Tough Luck Skull Do?

With Tough Luck active, enemies dodge projectiles, dive out of grenade blasts, and refuse to retreat from combat under any circumstances. Every enemy acts like a cornered fighter. Explosive weapons become less reliable, and enemy encounters feel far more aggressive and chaotic.

What Does the Mythic Skull Do?

With Mythic active, all enemies have significantly increased health. Every enemy type takes more hits to kill. On higher difficulties with other Skulls also active, this can make encounters extremely long and resource-heavy.
