Pailune is full of secrets, and the Hidden Chamber of Wisdom is one of the trickiest to crack. It’s tucked away in the snowy mountains, guarded by a spike trap, a swinging fire gauntlet, and a puzzle that needs a bit of decoding. This guide covers the full solution so you can grab the Abyss Artifact without the guesswork.

Hidden Chamber of Wisdom Location in Crimson Desert

The Hidden Chamber of Wisdom sits up in the snowy mountains of Pailune, near one of the witch’s sanctums. On your map, look at the letter “A” in Pailune — the chamber is marked as a large question mark to the west of it.

Once you get close to the mountain, you’ll spot a mural painted directly on the stone wall with a hidden entrance below it. Drop down into the gap and push through the narrow tunnel. It opens up into a chamber with nine element buttons on one wall and a large mural map showing four marked locations.

Hidden Chamber of Wisdom Puzzle Solution

The solution is to press these four buttons in any order:

• Wind
• Lightning
• Water
• Fire

The glyphs all correspond to the elemental abilities you can unlock — Storm Veil, Lightning Surge, Flame Strike, and Frost Mantle mein-mmo — which makes the solution something you can almost guess once you’re familiar with your kit.

The tricky part isn’t identifying which buttons to press. It’s reaching them safely. There’s a deadly spike trap in the center of the room, so don’t try to walk up to each button manually. Instead, stand at a safe distance and use Axiom Force to aim at the button, then activate Force Current to push it from across the room. Once all four correct buttons are pressed, the button wall will slide away to reveal the Abyss Cresset on the other side.

How to Cross the Rope Trap

Getting to the Abyss Artifact isn’t as simple as walking through the newly opened wall. There’s a rope bridge over a gap with two swinging fire braziers between you and the reward.

Here’s how to get across safely:

1. Equip your lantern and point it down at the rope in the middle of the gap.
2. Select Precision Jump to balance onto the rope.
3. Walk slowly toward the other side while watching the first brazier’s swing pattern.
4. Dodge or pause to avoid the first brazier, then keep moving.
5. The second brazier will suddenly drop and begin swinging side to side. Stop and wait for it to settle into a predictable rhythm before continuing.
6. Once both braziers are cleared, walk the rest of the rope to reach the newly unlocked room.

Take the Abyss Artifact from the Cresset to complete the puzzle. You’ll also receive Memories of Northern Winds — a consumable that reveals hidden locations across Pailune when used.

Hidden Chamber of Wisdom Mural Locations

Inside the chamber, there’s a large map mural on the wall with four marks on it. These marks correspond to real locations in the world around the Hidden Chamber. Visiting each one reveals a drawing of an element, which is how the game intends for you to decode the correct buttons to press.

All four mural locations are in the immediate area surrounding the Hidden Chamber. Look for flat rock faces or large walls in the snowy mountain terrain — murals tend to be painted on those kinds of surfaces. If you’re having trouble spotting them, activate your Visione and scan the environment. It highlights interactable objects and makes faint murals much easier to see.

Each mural will show one of the four correct elements. Once you’ve matched all four marks on the chamber map to their real-world locations and confirmed the elements, head back in and press Wind, Lightning, Water, and Fire.

Tips for This Puzzle

A few things that’ll save you time and frustration:

• Don’t explore the murals if you already know the answer. Wind, Lightning, Water, and Fire is the solution regardless. The mural hunt is the intended discovery method, but you don’t need to do it if you’re just here for the reward.
• Use Force Current instead of climbing. Trying to scale the walls and Force Palm each button manually is slow and puts you near the spike trap. Force Current from a distance is far faster.
• Be patient on the rope. The second brazier’s timing is irregular on purpose. Rushing it will get you knocked off. Wait until it settles before moving.
• Use your lantern before jumping. Without it, the Precision Jump option won’t appear. Equip it first, then aim down at the rope.
