TL;DR
- Sea You Later! is a Bronze trophy / Achievement in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy.
- It unlocks in Chapter 3, right at the very start of the chapter on the beach.
- When the chapter begins, turn around and walk the shoreline in the opposite direction from your objective.
- Keep going until you find a sea turtle near the water’s edge.
- Stand near it and wait for Sophia and Leni’s short conversation to finish — the trophy pops automatically.
- If you missed it, you can replay Sub-Chapter 1 of Chapter 3 via Chapter Select to get it.
What Is the Sea You Later! Trophy?
The Sea You Later! Trophy (or Achievement on Xbox and PC) is one of the small, easy-to-miss moments in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It unlocks when Sophia “says hello” to a sea turtle on the beach at the start of Chapter 3. There’s no puzzle involved, no combat, and no special item needed. You just have to find the turtle and stand near it long enough for a short dialogue exchange between Sophia and Leni to play out.
The reason so many players miss it is simple — the game immediately pushes you forward when Chapter 3 starts. The turtle is in the opposite direction from your objective marker, so most players just head the wrong way without realizing what they’re walking past. It takes less than two minutes to get once you know where to go.
If you’re going for full completion and want to know which other trophies you might miss, our complete trophies and achievements guide covers every single one with unlock conditions and a Platinum roadmap.
When and Where to Find the Turtle
The turtle is found in Chapter 3: Those Before Us, Sub-Chapter 1 — Paradise. This is the very first section of the chapter, before you’ve done anything else. The chapter opens with a cutscene, after which Sophia and Leni find themselves standing on a beach.
Your objective marker will tell you to follow the plunderers’ tracks, which sends you in one direction along the beach. Ignore it for now. Instead, turn around and walk in the opposite direction along the shoreline. Follow the water’s edge and keep going until you spot the turtle sitting in the shallow water or on the sand near the waves.
It doesn’t take long. The turtle is not far from where you start — you just need to go the wrong way on purpose. Once you see it, walk up close, and a short interaction will trigger automatically between Sophia and Leni. Wait for the conversation to end and the trophy or achievement will pop on screen.
Step-by-Step — How to Get Sea You Later!
Step 1 — Reach Chapter 3
Play through Chapters 1 and 2 normally until you reach Chapter 3: Those Before Us. The chapter begins with a cutscene showing Sophia and Leni arriving on the island’s beach. Once it ends and you regain control, stop before moving toward your objective.
If you’re not sure how Chapter 3 connects to the rest of the story, our full chapters list and collectibles guide shows how every chapter flows from start to finish.
Step 2 — Turn Around
When you get control of Sophia on the beach, your objective marker will point you forward. Turn completely around, so you’re facing the opposite direction from the marker. You should be walking along the shoreline with the water on one side and the cliffs or beach scenery on the other.
Step 3 — Follow the Shoreline
Walk along the water’s edge in this direction. Keep the ocean to your side and just follow the beach. You don’t need to go far. The turtle is visible fairly quickly once you’re heading the right way.
Step 4 — Find the Turtle
You’ll spot the sea turtle sitting near the water — either in the shallow surf or just on the sand at the shoreline. It may be slowly moving toward the ocean. Approach it and get close enough to trigger the interaction.
Step 5 — Wait for the Dialogue
Once Sophia gets close to the turtle, she and Leni will have a brief conversation about it. Don’t move away. Just stand there and let the exchange play out to the end. When the dialogue finishes, Sea You Later! pops automatically. You don’t need to press anything.
Step 6 — Head Back and Continue
Now turn back around and follow the shoreline the other way. You’ll pass a wrecked boat where you can pick up a Resonance Point. After that, continue toward the caves and ruins to follow your main objective for the chapter.
What Happens After the Turtle?
Once you have the trophy, there are two things worth picking up before you head inland. First, go back past where you started and look for the wrecked boat on the other side of the beach — there’s a Resonance Point sitting inside it. Second, keep going toward the cliffs and you’ll find a gap in the rocks that leads to the Conch Shell Artefact inside a small cave.
After that, the chapter continues with climbing sections, Minoan ruins, and eventually the entrance to the mountain trials. Chapter 3 is lighter on puzzles than Chapter 4 and works more as an exploration and story chapter. If you want a full breakdown of what Chapter 4 has waiting for you on the other side, our Chapter 4 puzzles guide walks through every challenge in order.
Is Sea You Later! Missable?
It depends on how you define missable. The trophy itself is not permanently locked out once you pass Chapter 3. If you walk straight past the turtle and finish the chapter without triggering the interaction, you can go back using Chapter Select and replay Sub-Chapter 1 of Chapter 3. Find the turtle again, wait for the dialogue, and the trophy unlocks just the same.
The one thing to be careful about is Resonance Points. These do not carry over when you use Chapter Select, so don’t go back to replay Chapter 3 expecting to keep any skill points you earn there. But the trophy itself will save and carry forward fine.
So while it’s not truly missable in a permanent sense, it’s the kind of thing you want to get on your first pass through Chapter 3 to avoid the extra trip. It takes about 90 seconds, and you’re passing right by the area anyway.
Why Is This Trophy So Easy to Miss?
A few reasons combine to make this one slip past a lot of players:
- The objective pulls you the other way. The game immediately prompts you to follow the plunderers’ tracks, which sends you away from the turtle. Most players follow that without a second thought.
- There’s no hint or marker. The turtle doesn’t appear on the map and there’s no notification that anything is in that direction. You only find it if you explore the “wrong” way on purpose.
- Chapter 3 opens with action and momentum. After the cutscene, the natural impulse is to keep moving. Turning around and walking quietly down a beach doesn’t feel like the priority.
- It blends into the scenery. The beach looks like regular background. A sea turtle sitting near the water isn’t obviously an interactive object until you get close.
Other Easy-to-Miss Things in Chapter 3
While you’re on the beach at the start of Chapter 3, it’s worth doing a quick sweep before heading inland. In addition to the turtle and the Resonance Point near the wrecked boat, the chapter has six Artefacts and four Charms spread across its sections. The Conch Shell is the first one, right by the beach entrance cave.
Chapter 3 also contains some light environmental puzzles involving the grappling hook and log-pushing sections. Platinum and Trophy Checklist Note
Sea You Later! is a Bronze trophy on PlayStation and a regular Achievement on Xbox and PC. It doesn’t count toward any larger objective in the game, but it’s one of the two small, story-independent trophies (alongside Theater Enthusiast from Chapter 2) that reward you for stopping and taking in the world rather than rushing through it.
If you’re building toward the Platinum on PlayStation, the only truly missable trophy in the entire game is Like a Warrior, which requires collecting 165 of the 200 available Resonance Points in a single playthrough. Everything else, including Sea You Later!, can be picked up via Chapter Select if needed. That said, grabbing it now in Chapter 3 takes less time than replaying the sub-chapter later.
For help deciding which skills to spend those Resonance Points on, our guide to the best skills to unlock first in Resonance tells you exactly where to invest early. And for puzzles you’ll hit soon after Chapter 3, the guide on how to solve the symbols pedestal maze puzzle in Chapter 4 covers the trickiest moment coming up next.
