What Is the Theatre Enthusiast Trophy?
The Theatre Enthusiast Trophy — called Theater Enthusiast on Xbox and PC — is one of the small, easy-to-miss trophies in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It unlocks when you watch the entire puppet show at the carnival in Chapter 2. No combat, no puzzle, no special requirement. You just need to find the right stage and stand there long enough for the performance to end.
The reason so many players miss it is that the carnival has two stages. The big one, with fire jugglers performing right in front of the church, is impossible to miss. The puppet theatre is the smaller one tucked behind it — and if you follow the cloth markers straight toward your objective, you can walk through the entire carnival without ever seeing it. One minute of patience is all it takes once you know where to look.

When Does the Carnival Appear in Chapter 2?
The carnival takes place in Chapter 2: Felons, Sub-Chapter 2 — The Carnival. This is the middle section of the chapter, after Sophia and Leni drop off their weapons at a barrel and pass through a gate into the festival. The story objective during this section is to follow the pieces of white cloth hanging around the streets toward the church.
You’ll move through a first market square, pass through an archway where two guards search you and Leni, cross a bridge, and then reach a second section where the guards start calling for people to remove their masks. Leni leads you around through a side path. She lockpicks a door, and you both squeeze through a narrow backyard with two pigs. On the other side of that backyard is the big carnival square — fire jugglers on the main stage, crowds milling around, and the puppet theatre waiting behind it all.
This is your window. Everything is calm here, no enemies, no urgency. Take a minute to find the puppet show before heading toward the church.
Where Exactly Is the Puppet Show?
When you come out into the main carnival square after the backyard with the pigs, you’ll see the large stage straight ahead with the fire jugglers performing. Do not go toward them — that is not the puppet show.
Instead, walk around or behind the fire juggler stage. The puppet theatre is in the rear-left area of the square, beyond the fire performers and market stalls. It is smaller, lower-key, and easy to overlook because the fire juggling act is so loud and eye-catching by comparison. You will see a group of children gathered around it watching the performance. Walk up to it and stand near the front of the stage.
Step-by-Step — How to Get Theatre Enthusiast
Step 1 — Reach the Carnival in Chapter 2
Play through Chapter 2 normally. When Sophia and Leni drop off their weapons at the barrel and pass through the carnival gates, you’ve entered the right area. Follow the story path through the first square, past the guards at the archway, and over the bridge until the guards start calling for masks to be removed.

Step 2 — Follow Leni Through the Side Door
When the guards block your path, follow Leni. She leads you off the main street through a side route. She lockpicks a wooden door on a quiet alley, and you squeeze through a narrow backyard where two pigs are wandering around. Keep going through the gap on the other side.
Step 3 — Enter the Carnival Square
Coming out of the backyard, you’ll step into the big open carnival square. The fire jugglers are performing on the main stage ahead of you, right in front of the church. This is the area where players tend to get pulled toward the objective and miss the puppet show entirely.
Stop here before moving forward. Don’t follow the cloth markers yet.
Step 4 — Find the Puppet Theatre
Walk around or past the main fire juggler stage. Head toward the rear-left part of the square, beyond the stalls and the crowds. You’ll spot a smaller, lower stage with a puppet performance running and a group of children watching in front of it. That is the puppet theatre you need.
Step 5 — Stand and Watch the Full Show
Walk up and position Sophia in front of the puppet stage. Stay there and don’t move. The show runs for roughly one minute. As long as you remain in position and don’t walk away, the trophy will pop automatically once the performance ends.
One important warning: the show may appear to loop or repeat before it actually ends. Don’t leave when you think it’s done. Wait for the trophy notification itself. If you walk away too early, nothing will unlock and you’ll have to come back.
Step 6 — Continue Toward the Church
Once the Theatre Enthusiast trophy pops, you’re free to move on. From the puppet show, head left down the side of the church and squeeze through a gap in the fence. That puts you back on the story path to meet Leni and reclaim your weapons.
Why Is This Trophy So Easy to Miss?
A few things combine to make this one slip past players on their first run:
- The fire juggler stage grabs all the attention. It’s large, loud, and right in front of the church — which is also your objective. Most players walk straight to it and then past it without looking behind.
- The cloth markers pull you forward. The objective system in Chapter 2 uses pieces of white cloth to guide you toward the church. If you follow them without detour, the puppet theatre is completely off the route.
- The puppet stage is small and easy to miss. It doesn’t announce itself. You see children around a modest little stage and might assume it’s just background scenery rather than something you need to interact with.
- The show looks like it ends before it does. Some players stand for a bit, assume the performance has finished when an animation appears to repeat, and walk away right before the trophy triggers.
What Else to Do While You’re at the Carnival
The carnival section in Chapter 2 is one of the few calm stretches in the game. Before heading to the church, it’s worth picking up the other collectibles in the area too. Before crossing the bridge in the first square, turn right toward the docks to find the Serenissima Banner Artefact. And in the backyard with the pigs — right after Leni lockpicks the door — there’s a small wooden box on the left side of the building that contains the Beads #1 Charm. That’s easy to grab right as you squeeze through.

Can You Get Theatre Enthusiast After Missing It?
Yes. Unlike some trophies tied to very specific moments, Theatre Enthusiast can be unlocked via Chapter Select after the fact. Go back to Sub-Chapter 2 of Chapter 2, follow the same path through the carnival, find the puppet theatre behind the fire juggler stage, and watch the show. The trophy will unlock just as it would have on a first playthrough.
The one thing to keep in mind is Resonance Points. These do not carry over when you replay via Chapter Select. So don’t go back to Chapter 2 expecting to keep any skill points you earn there during the replay — they won’t transfer to your current save progress. But the trophy itself will save and sync fine.
That said, doing it right on your first pass through the carnival is much faster than making a second trip. The whole detour takes about two minutes and saves you the trouble of reloading the chapter later.
Theatre Enthusiast and Sea You Later — Do Both Early
Theatre Enthusiast and Sea You Later are the two small exploration trophies in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy that reward you for slowing down and paying attention to the world around you. Both are easy to miss on a first playthrough, and both can be recovered via Chapter Select — but getting them on your first pass is far more convenient.
Theatre Enthusiast is in Chapter 2. Sea You Later is in Chapter 3, right at the very start of that chapter on the beach. If you’re reading this before Chapter 3, go left along the shoreline when Chapter 3 begins and you’ll find the turtle within about 30 seconds of walking. Both trophies together cost you under three minutes of total playtime if you do them as you go.
Is Theatre Enthusiast Required for Platinum?
Yes — every trophy is required for the Platinum on PlayStation. Theatre Enthusiast is a Bronze trophy and counts toward the Sea Scorpion Platinum just like everything else. On Xbox and PC, it’s a standard Achievement worth Gamerscore.
The good news is that Resonance has one of the more approachable Platinum trophies in the A Plague Tale series. There are no difficulty-related trophies, no online requirements, and no New Game Plus needed. The only genuinely missable trophy is Like a Warrior, which requires collecting 165 of the 200 available Resonance Points in a single playthrough. Everything else — including Theatre Enthusiast — can be cleaned up via Chapter Select at any time after finishing the story.
