TL;DR

  • This is a Chapter 7 quest in the Twisted Fate sub-questline — you play as Oongka, not Kliff
  • To track Ludvig, hold L1+R1 after talking to the NPC to reveal a golden trail heading west
  • You can skip the tracking entirely and head straight to the small graveyard in Kingshield Mountains, Demeniss
  • Inspect the blood on the floor to trigger the fight against One-Armed Ludvig
  • Swap Oongka’s slow two-handed axe for dual one-handed weapons before fighting — it makes a big difference
  • Use Melted Ambition’s R1+R2 special to build stun and deal major damage
  • The core loop: parry to earn Spirit → R1+R2 Melted Ambition attack → repeat
  • Completing this quest rewards Ignir (spear), Solas Plate Armor, and Solas Plate Boots

Chapter 7 of Crimson Desert throws a lot at you in a short space of time. The “Time to Face Justice” quest is part of the Twisted Fate sub-questline, and it forces you to step out of Kliff’s boots and into Oongka’s. If you just came off beating Myurdin, this is your next major challenge — and it is a meaningful one.

Oongka handles differently. His default loadout is built around a heavy two-handed axe, which is far too slow for this fight. The good news is that you can change that before engaging.

Here is the full walkthrough.

Quest Overview: Time to Face Justice

  • Chapter: 7 – Homecoming
  • Sub-Chapter: Twisted Fate
  • Starting Location: Hernand Region
  • Playable Character: Oongka
  • Reward: Ignir (Spear), Solas Plate Armor, Solas Plate Boots

This quest picks up directly after “Ludvig’s Whereabouts.” Ludvig has escaped, and you need to track him down through the Kingshield Mountains.

Step 1 – What to Prepare Before You Go

You are in Oongka’s body for this quest, and his skill set has been automatically invested. Do not worry too much about that — but do sort your gear and supplies before heading out.

Healing Food

Stock up. One-Armed Ludvig deals consistent damage and punishes mistakes. Run out of food and the fight will overwhelm you.

Good options:

  • Grilled Meat — affordable and widely available from butchers
  • Braised Meat — slightly more effective per use, easy to cook in bulk
  • Chewy Rice Cakes — available daily from Lonnie’s shop at Greymane Camp; stock these up over time if you visit regularly

100+ pieces of healing food is a reasonable minimum for a first attempt.

Swap Oongka’s Weapon

Oongka starts with the Dekarrr Greataxe — a two-handed weapon that hits hard but swings slowly. Ludvig is quick, and a slow weapon means fewer openings and more punishment.

Before the fight, open the Armed Combat weapon wheel (Left on D-Pad) and swap to dual-wield. The two weapons you want:

  • Melted Ambition (One-Handed) — the reward from defeating Myurdin. Its special move, R1+R2, delivers uninterrupted damage and builds enormous stun.
  • Silver Wolf Axe (One-Handed) — fast and hits cleanly.

These two together give you speed, stun-building, and burst damage — everything you need for this fight.

If you have not beaten Myurdin yet, see our how to beat Myurdin in Crimson Desert guide first.

Palmar Pills

Bring at least one. Save it for when One-Armed Ludvig is nearly dead and you die unexpectedly. Do not use it with a full enemy health bar — it is a wasted revive at that point.

Step 2 – How to Track Ludvig

Once you have your gear sorted, head to the quest marker. You will find an NPC standing near a broken tree trunk in a field. Speak with him.

After the conversation, you get a small search area on the map. Here is what to do next:

Note: Oongka does not use a Lantern the same way Kliff does. To reveal the golden trail, hold L1+R1 simultaneously. A golden line will appear on the ground, pointing west toward Ludvig’s location. Follow it.

Alternatively, you can skip the tracking entirely. The destination is a small graveyard in the Kingshield Mountains of Demeniss. If you head straight there, you will save time and avoid wandering.

Step 3 – Triggering the Boss Fight

Once you arrive at the small graveyard enclosure in the Kingshield Mountains:

  1. Enter the enclosure.
  2. Hold L1 and look down at the center of the floor. You will see a prompt: “Examine” (or blood on the ground, depending on platform).
  3. Press Square (or the equivalent confirm button on your platform) to examine it.
  4. A cutscene will trigger — and immediately after, you enter the fight against One-Armed Ludvig.

Make sure your weapons are swapped and your food is assigned to the D-Pad before you press Examine. There is no preparation window once the fight starts.

If your food is not showing on the HUD, hold Right D-Pad and use the Right Stick to reselect your healing item.

How to Beat One-Armed Ludvig in Crimson Desert

One-Armed Ludvig is a single-phase boss fight, which is a relief compared to the two-phase Myurdin encounter. However, Oongka’s unfamiliar control feel and limited skill investment makes this tougher than it looks on paper.

The fight is built around parrying and stun-building. Your goal is to land 2–3 R1 hits after each parry, then use the Melted Ambition R1+R2 special to deal heavy stun damage and build toward a finisher.

Core Attack Loop

  1. Parry Ludvig’s swing with L1 to halt his attack and open a damage window.
  2. Follow up with 2–3 R1 hits.
  3. Use Melted Ambition’s R1+R2 special to deal high damage and build the stun meter.
  4. When Spirit is low, press L3+R3 to regenerate it. This also slightly slows time, giving you a moment to read Ludvig’s next move.
  5. Repeat.

Build the stun meter enough and you will trigger a nasty finisher. That is the fight in a loop. Stay patient and do not rush in when Ludvig has not attacked yet — he will parry you right back.

One-Armed Ludvig Attack Patterns and Counters

Two-Swing Blade Combo Ludvig charges and swings twice. When you see blue light surge across his blade, that is your parry window. Time L1 to counter it cleanly, and then use your damage window.

Red Flash – Giant Lightning Sword Ludvig flashes red and summons a massive lightning sword. This move cannot be parried. When you see the red flash, immediately roll away and wait for the attack to finish before repositioning.

He follows this with a three-hit wide-area combo. Watch the blade direction carefully and dodge opposite to each swing to use your invincibility frames properly.

Dark World – Teleport Lightning Blast Ludvig makes the world go dark and leaps backward. He will then attempt to teleport directly to your location and unleash a devastating lightning blast. When this happens:

  • Spam roll repeatedly and head toward the entrance gate of the arena.
  • If you push him far enough outside the battlefield boundary, he will stop targeting you and return to the center. Use that moment to land attacks and R2 hits while he resets.

This is the closest thing the fight has to a cheese — it works reliably if you know to use it.

Arena Cheese: Using the Entrance Gate

One-Armed Ludvig can be partly neutralized by forcing him toward or through the entrance gate. When he is far enough outside the arena boundary, he drops his aggression and walks back to the center.

Use that window. Hit him with your Melted Ambition R1+R2 as he returns, and keep nudging him back toward the gate whenever his Dark World teleport triggers. It is not glamorous, but it works — and it takes pressure off you during his most dangerous move.

Quest Rewards

After defeating One-Armed Ludvig and completing Time to Face Justice, you receive:

ItemType
IgnirSpear
Solas Plate ArmorBody Armor
Solas Plate BootsBoots

These are among the best gear pieces available at this point in the story. Equip them right away.

Tips Before You Go In

  • Swap the axe. Melted Ambition + Silver Wolf Axe is the right loadout for this fight. Do not go in with the default two-handed weapon.
  • Keep your food assigned. If it disappears from your HUD, hold Right D-Pad and reselect with the Right Stick.
  • Only parry on his two-swing combo. His red-flash lightning sword cannot be parried — rolling is the only answer.
  • Use the entrance gate trick for the Dark World teleport. It consistently removes pressure from his most dangerous move.
  • L3+R3 gives you Spirit and slows time. Use it freely between Melted Ambition attacks.
