TL;DR
- Myurdin is a two-phase Chapter 7 boss found at the top of Ashclaw Keep in Pailune
- The Blinding Flash Finisher (Blue Skill Tree) is your best tool — it stuns and deals huge damage
- Use Focus (L3+R3) to slow time and regenerate Spirit between Blinding Flash cycles
- In Phase 1, parry his first two swings but always dodge the third (it has a red glint and cannot be parried)
- When the screen goes dark in both phases, jump immediately, use Force Palm, then activate Wings/Fly
- In Phase 2 (Lava Myurdin), stay near the center of the arena — falling into the lava is an instant kill
- Stock up on Meat Skewers, Braised Meat, and at least one Palmar Pill before heading in
The rematch with Myurdin is one of the toughest fights in Crimson Desert. You first face him at the very start of the game, but that fight is scripted — you cannot win it, no matter how well you play. The real battle happens in Chapter 7, at the top of Ashclaw Keep in Pailune.
This time, the fight is two full phases. Myurdin hits hard, moves fast, and punishes players who go in without a clear plan. The good news? There is a reliable strategy that works — and once you understand the rhythm of it, the fight becomes very manageable.
Here is everything you need.
What to Bring Before the Fight

Ashclaw Keep is deep in northern Pailune. It is a long way from any convenient fast travel point. If you go in underprepared and die, getting back is a pain. Pack heavy before you leave.
Healing Items
Bring as much food as you can carry. The universal rule for every tough boss in Crimson Desert applies here: the more healing you have, the easier the fight gets. You will take damage — that is just how Myurdin is designed. The question is whether you can outheal what he dishes out.
Good options include:
- Meat Skewers and Braised Meat — affordable from any Butcher and easy to stack in large numbers
- Chewy Rice Cakes — available from Ronnie at Greymane Camp; these restock daily, making them easy to farm over time
Aim for at least 100 pieces of healing food. 200 is even better for a first attempt.

Palmar Pills
Bring at least one Palmar Pill — it revives you instantly at 30% health. The key is knowing when to use it. Save it for Phase 2 when Myurdin is nearly dead. If you pop one while he still has most of his health bar, you are wasting a limited resource.

Weapons
The Tauria Curved Sword (dropped from the Crowcaller boss) is a strong pick here. Its special ability, Crow’s Pursuit, fires an explosive crow projectile via R2. This is useful for landing damage from a safe distance when Myurdin is at full aggression.
Dual-wielding one-handed weapons is also effective for fast burst damage between Blinding Flash cycles.
Check our Crowcaller quest guide if you have not defeated that boss yet.
Armor
Heat Resistant Armor is optional, but it genuinely helps. Myurdin’s fire attacks drain stamina faster without it, and stamina management matters throughout both phases. Running out of stamina at the wrong moment means you cannot dodge — and that can kill you.
See our ice resistance and frost protection guide for more on resistance gear in general.
Skills You Must Have
Two skills are essential for this fight. Do not go in without them.
Focus (Green Skill Tree)
- How to activate: L3+R3
- What it does: Slows time and regenerates Spirit
- This is your Spirit-recovery tool between Blinding Flash uses. The slow-motion effect also lets you read Myurdin’s incoming attacks, which is a huge help during his faster combos.
Blinding Flash Finisher (Blue Skill Tree)
- How to activate: Press L1+R1 to enter Blinding Flash, then press R2
- What it does: Kliff rushes at Myurdin and delivers a rapid multi-hit flurry of strikes
- This is your primary damage dealer. It stuns Myurdin, builds up the stagger bar, and deals heavy damage. The entire strategy of this fight revolves around cycling between this skill and Spirit recovery.

The core loop is simple: Focus (L3+R3) → Blinding Flash (L1+R1) → Blinding Flash Finisher (R2) → repeat. Everything else is just managing Myurdin’s attacks in between.
Phase 1: How to Beat Myurdin
Phase 1 Myurdin is aggressive from the moment the fight starts. He has three main attacks to watch for.

Myurdin’s Phase 1 Attack Patterns
Weapon Charge (Three-Hit Combo) Myurdin rushes forward and swings his weapon in a three-hit combo. Here is the critical detail: the first two hits can be parried, which opens a damage window. The third hit has a red glint — it is unparryable. Roll away on the third swing without exception.
Ground Slam He winds up visibly before slamming down for a wide AoE hit. Dodge sideways as his arms come down.
Bear Volley (Screen Darkens) This is the most dangerous move in Phase 1. When the screen darkens and Myurdin drops to all fours, he is about to unleash a volley of charging explosive bears across the arena floor. You cannot stay on the ground during this attack.
The only safe response: jump immediately, use Force Palm to launch yourself into the air, then activate Wings (Fly). Stay airborne until the bears finish charging. This is not optional — if you stay grounded, the bears will hit you repeatedly and likely kill you.
Phase 1 Attack Strategy
- Build Spirit using Focus (L3+R3). Take advantage of the slow motion to watch Myurdin’s movements.
- When Spirit is ready, activate Blinding Flash (L1+R1), then immediately follow with R2 for the Blinding Flash Finisher.
- After the finisher, back off and rebuild Spirit. Keep your distance while you do.
- Repeat the loop: Focus → Blinding Flash → Blinding Flash Finisher.
- Parry his weapon combos when they come, but always roll the third hit.
- Get airborne the moment the screen darkens.
The explosive barrels around the edge of the arena (marked with a white X) can deal extra damage if you bait Myurdin into them. However, the explosion radius is wide enough to catch you too. Do not chase this unless it happens naturally.
Phase 2: How to Beat Lava Myurdin
When Myurdin transforms, the arena gets a lot more dangerous. He is faster, more aggressive, and all his fire attacks now carry stronger burn debuffs. His health bar is also full again.

The good news: the core strategy is identical. Focus → Blinding Flash → Blinding Flash Finisher. What changes is how you handle his new attacks.
Lava Myurdin’s New Attack Patterns
Slow Fire Sword Swing Lava Myurdin swings with his fire sword in a slow, telegraphed motion. This is one of the few attacks you can parry in Phase 2. Use the opening to land an R2 attack or fall back to rebuild Spirit.
Dark Screen Slam (Invincible Phase) When the screen darkens again, Lava Myurdin turns red and repeatedly jumps and slam-attacks you. This is one of his invincible attacks — you cannot damage him and must survive it.
Two ways to handle it:
- Jump, Force Palm, then activate Fly — same as Phase 1’s bear volley. Get into the air and stay there.
- Spam Circle to dodge — this works but is riskier, since a mistimed dodge means taking a slam to the face.
The air method is more reliable.
Arena Edge Charges Lava Myurdin will actively try to throw and charge you toward the edge of the arena. Falling into the lava is an instant kill. Stay near the center of the arena at all times. When he starts pushing toward the edge, focus on repositioning rather than attacking.
Phase 2 Attack Strategy
- Build Spirit with Focus (L3+R3) as usual. The slow motion continues to help you read his movements.
- Use Blinding Flash (L1+R1) → R2 Finisher as your main damage loop.
- When he swings with the slow fire sword, parry and counter with R2 or use the moment to gain distance.
- When the screen darkens, get airborne immediately.
- Always keep your position near the center of the arena.
- Heal freely — do not try to be conservative with food. You will take damage in Phase 2 and that is expected.
If Myurdin is near death in Phase 2 and you die, this is the time to use your Palmar Pill. A 30% health revival with him almost down is a good trade.
If you are struggling with stamina during Phase 2, see our how to get max health in Crimson Desert guide to make sure your stats are in order before the fight.
What You Get for Beating Myurdin
Defeating Myurdin rewards you with:
- Melted Ambition — a named item tied specifically to this encounter
- Pailunese Contribution EXP — a solid chunk toward your regional standing in Pailune
Quick Tips Summary
- Never run out of healing food. The Myurdin fight is designed so you will take hits. Out-healing the damage is the core mechanic.
- The third hit of his combo cannot be parried. Roll away every time, no exceptions.
- Get airborne the moment the screen darkens — in both phases. This is the single most important skill to remember.
- Stay away from the arena edges in Phase 2. Lava = instant death.
- Save your Palmar Pill for Phase 2 when Myurdin is nearly dead.
- Do not use Grappling Skills in Phase 2 — they do not work on Lava Myurdin.
