What Is the Crowcaller Quest?
Crowcaller is the 65th main story quest in Crimson Desert. It belongs to Chapter 5 — Guest Unbidden, in the sub-chapter called Black and White.
The quest begins after you finish The Missing Seal. When you return to Hernand Castle, soldiers tell you that unidentified invaders raided the Axiom Archive and kidnapped White Crow. Your companion Alustin, despite being injured, begs you to pursue them and bring White Crow back.
The objective sounds simple: “Track the Invader at Hernand Castle.” The problem is the search area is massive, most doors are locked, and the game gives you no marker showing exactly where to go. That is why players get stuck.
This guide gives you the exact path.

How to Re-Enter Hernand Castle
If you have been outside the castle since the previous quest, the guards at the main gate may stop you again.
To get back inside, you need to wear the Hernandian Attire. This is the purple coat item in your inventory. Open your inventory, equip it, and approach the castle gate. The guards will inspect you and raise the gate.
If you do not remember how you first got in, see our full guide on how to enter Hernand Castle in Crimson Desert.

How to Find the Invader in Hernand Castle — Step by Step
Step 1 — Enter the Main Hall
Walk through the main castle gate and into the central interior of Hernand Castle. You will find soldiers scattered around and many locked doors. Ignore them.
Step 2 — Turn Right and Go Upstairs
As soon as you enter the main hallway, turn right through the open door. You will see a staircase leading up. Climb it to reach the second floor.
Note: You can also take the stairs on the left side of the main hall. Both routes lead to the same second-floor corridor.
Step 3 — Enter the First Door on the Left
At the top of the stairs, you are now on the second floor. You will see guards patrolling and a heavily guarded door at the far end of the corridor.
Do not go to the guarded door at the end. Instead, turn left and enter the first wooden door on your left.
This is the same room you visited very early in the story — the first time you entered Hernand Castle and discovered your first Abyss Gate. It should feel familiar.
Step 4 — Go Through the Abyss Gate
Inside this room, you will find an Abyss Gate — a glowing yellow wall.
Walk up to it and interact with it to be teleported into the Abyss (sky map).
Can’t interact with the Abyss Gate? Open your map, switch to the sky map view, and look for the fast travel point in the sky. Press the fast travel button (Triangle / Y) to teleport directly to the Abyss spawn point. This is a known workaround if the gate is unresponsive.
Step 5 — Walk Forward to the Tower
You will spawn in the Abyss on a sky island. From where you land, walk straight forward toward the tall tower building ahead of you.
As you approach the tower, enemies will appear and ambush you.
How to Beat the Crow Brothers
There is no boss fight in this quest. What you get instead is a group ambush of roughly 10 Crow Brothers — fast, aggressive fighters that arrive all at once.
Here are some tips to get through it cleanly:
- Bring healing food before you enter. You cannot prepare once the ambush starts. Check our guide on how to cook the best healing food in Crimson Desert before heading in.
- Use Blinding Flash to open fights against grouped enemies. It staggers multiple targets at once. See our Blinding Flash guide for how to use it well.
- Do not fight all 10 at once. Back up near the entrance to the tower so only a few can reach you at a time.
- If you have been upgrading your gear, this fight is manageable. If you feel underpowered, check our best early build guide or our how to get better equipment guide.
Once all enemies are defeated, a cutscene plays and the Crowcaller quest ends.
Quest Reward
Crowcaller offers no item or stat reward. It is purely a story progression quest. The payoff is narrative — the cutscene after the fight advances Chapter 5 and moves the Black and White sub-chapter forward.
What Comes Before and After
Before Crowcaller:
- The Missing Seal (64th main quest)
After Crowcaller:
- The next quest in Chapter 5 — Guest Unbidden continues automatically after the cutscene
