Character Overview

Klee is a 5-star Pyro character from Mondstadt who wields a Catalyst. The Spark Knight of the Knights of Favonius, Klee is an on-field Main DPS who specializes in explosive AoE Pyro damage through her bouncing bombs and Charged Attacks. After receiving her Hexerei buffs in Version 6.2 (Luna III), Klee has seen a significant quality-of-life and damage upgrade — her gameplay is now noticeably smoother and more forgiving, making her a genuinely viable Pyro DPS option in 2026. Players who enjoy Klee might also be interested in Amber, another Pyro character from Mondstadt. This comprehensive guide covers everything you need to maximize Klee’s potential in Genshin Impact.

Character Stats & Role

  • Element: Pyro
  • Weapon Type: Catalyst
  • Rarity: 5 Stars ★★★★★
  • Region: Mondstadt
  • Best Role: On-Field Main DPS (Hexerei / Vaporize / Overload)

⚡ Hexerei Buffs — What Changed in Version 6.2

Klee’s Hexerei buffs are the most important update to her kit and completely change how she should be built and played. After completing the Witch’s Homework quest, Klee unlocks her Hexerei talents — but these only activate when at least one other Hexerei character is in the party (e.g. Durin, Fischl, Venti, Albedo, Mona, Sucrose, or Razor).

  • Boom Boost stacks — Each time Klee’s Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Skill, or Burst hit enemies, she gains one Boom Boost stack (up to 3, each lasting 20s). At 1/2/3 stacks, her Explosive Spark-enhanced Charged Attacks deal 115%/130%/150% of normal damage
  • Smoother combo loop — During her Burst, Klee’s Normal Attack combo no longer resets. On her 3rd Normal Attack, she can automatically fire a free Charged Attack without breaking her sequence, dramatically reducing stamina consumption and clunkiness
  • C2 DEF Shred upgrade — Her Elemental Skill now decreases enemy DEF by 23% on hit (previously required hitting mines specifically)
  • C4 upgrade — If Klee is on-field when Sparks ‘n’ Splash ends, the explosion deals 100% increased damage
  • C6 upgrade — Grants 25% Pyro DMG Bonus during Burst + 50% chance not to consume Explosive Spark + 40% chance for free additional Charged Attacks with another Hexerei member

Best Weapons for Klee

Klee has no signature weapon, so she uses general CRIT and ATK-focused Catalysts. The Hexerei buffs don’t fundamentally change her weapon priority, but the new artifact set context means CRIT Rate weapons are slightly less urgent.

5-Star Weapons (Premium Options)

  • Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds — Best-in-slot 5-star overall; high CRIT Rate substat and movement speed buff that helps with her clunky animations. Note: the Elemental DMG bonus is team-dependent
  • Kagura’s Verity — Excellent CRIT DMG substat with an Elemental Skill DMG bonus that stacks well with Klee’s frequent Skill use
  • Skyward Atlas — Reliable ATK% option with a useful off-field passive; more consistent than Lost Prayer in shorter fight windows
  • Tulaytullah’s Remembrance — Strong option; averaged at approximately 25% Normal Attack DMG bonus which synergizes with her post-buff Normal Attack importance

4-Star Weapons (Great Alternatives)

  • The Widsith — Best 4-star at R5; performs close to Tulaytullah’s Remembrance at max refinement. Rotating buffs align well with Klee’s Burst windows. Recommended R5 if you have it
  • Solar Pearl (Battle Pass) — Solid CRIT Rate substat with a DMG buff passive; note it doesn’t buff Charged Attacks directly, which are Klee’s main damage source
  • Flowing Purity — At R5 paired with Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy, can perform as well as 5-star options in specific setups
  • Mappa Mare (Craftable) — Best permanently craftable F2P option; Elemental Mastery substat helps in Vaporize and Overload reaction teams

F2P / Budget Option

Mappa Mare (Craftable) — Reliable and permanently obtainable. Magic Guide (3-star) remains a decent early-game option specifically in reaction teams, though it falls off quickly at higher investment levels.

⚠️ Note: Memory of Dust and Sacrificial Fragments are no longer among Klee’s top picks post-Hexerei. Memory of Dust requires a shielder to fully activate its passive, which conflicts with optimal Klee team compositions. Sacrificial Fragments’ EM substat is less impactful now that Normal Attacks and Charged Attacks are prioritized over reaction-only builds.

Best Artifacts for Klee

This is the biggest change post-Hexerei buff. Klee’s best-in-slot artifact set has shifted away from Crimson Witch of Flames to a newer set in most team comps.

Primary Artifact Set (Post-Hexerei)

A Day Carved from Rising Winds (4pc) — New best-in-slot for Hexerei Klee. With Klee’s new status as a Hexerei member, A Day Carved from Rising Winds is her best-in-slot due to the ATK buffs from both the 2pc and 4pc effect, as well as the near unconditional 20% CRIT Rate increase. This significantly reduces substat pressure on CRIT Rate, freeing you to invest in CRIT DMG and ATK%.

Alternative Artifact Sets

  • Crimson Witch of Flames (4pc) — Still excellent for Vaporize, Overload, and Burning teams. Best choice if you don’t have Rising Winds pieces yet, or in non-Hexerei team setups
  • Marechaussee Hunter (4pc) — Best option when running Furina alongside Klee; Furina’s HP drain constantly triggers the 4pc CRIT Rate buff
  • Lavawalker (4pc) — Niche pick for Mono-Pyro teams only; Klee’s constant Pyro application makes the 4pc condition easy to maintain
  • Crimson Witch (2pc) + ATK% (2pc) — Solid generalist transitional build while farming better pieces

Main Stats Priority

Sands: ATK% or Elemental Mastery (EM in Vaporize/Melt teams) | Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus | Circlet: CRIT DMG (if using Rising Winds — CRIT Rate is covered by the set) or CRIT Rate (for other sets)

Substats Priority

Focus on: CRIT Rate = CRIT DMG > ATK% > Energy Recharge > Elemental Mastery. Klee’s Burst costs 60 Energy — manageable since she generates particles with her Skill and her A4 passive generates team energy on Charged Attack CRITs. Aim for ~130–140% ER if struggling with Burst uptime.

Team Compositions

Post-Hexerei, Klee’s teams have expanded significantly. Her best teams now almost always include a second Hexerei character to unlock her Secret Rite buffs. Hexerei members include: Durin, Fischl, Venti, Albedo, Mona, Sucrose, and Razor.

Team Composition 1: Hexerei Vaporize — “Kleebineffa” (Best Team)

  • Klee (Main DPS)
  • Fischl (Hexerei enabler + off-field Electro/ATK buff)
  • Columbina or Xingqiu or Yelan (Hydro for Vaporize)
  • Ineffa or Bennett (Shielder / Buffer)

Fischl activates Klee’s Hexerei buffs while providing off-field damage. Xingqiu’s Hydro application allows Klee to Vaporize most of her Charged Attacks, which are further amplified by Boom Boost stacks.

Team Composition 2: Hexerei Overload (Strong Alternative)

  • Klee (Main DPS)
  • Durin (Hexerei enabler — best synergy with Klee in Overload)
  • Fischl (Off-field Electro for Overload)
  • Chevreuse (Pyro/Electro RES Shred)

Chevreuse’s RES shred benefits the entire party. Durin and Fischl both activate Klee’s Hexerei passives. Note: all team members must be Pyro or Electro for Chevreuse’s RES shred to function. This team lacks a dedicated healer — dodge responsibly.

Team Composition 3: Classic Vaporize (F2P-Friendly)

  • Klee (Main DPS)
  • Xingqiu or Yelan (Hydro off-field for Vaporize)
  • Kazuha or Sucrose (Anemo VV Shred — Kazuha also groups Klee’s mini bombs)
  • Bennett (ATK Buffer / Healer)

Note: Sucrose is a Hexerei member, so pairing Klee with Sucrose here also activates the Hexerei Secret Rite bonus. Kazuha’s grouping is especially valuable for Klee since it clusters her scattered bomb mines.

Team Composition 4: Mono-Pyro

  • Klee (Main DPS)
  • Xiangling (Off-field Pyro)
  • Bennett (ATK Buffer / Healer / Pyro resonance)
  • Kazuha (Anemo VV Shred + grouping)

Synergy Tips

• Always include at least one Hexerei character to unlock Klee’s Secret Rite buffs — this is now near-mandatory for optimal damage
• Complete the Witch’s Homework quest for Klee and any Hexerei teammates you use — buffs do not activate without it
• Build Boom Boost stacks early in the rotation using Normal Attacks and Skills before committing to Charged Attacks
• Kazuha is especially good with Klee as he groups her scattered Jumpy Dumpty mines together, maximizing their hit count
• Bennett is near-essential in most teams — his ATK buff substantially boosts Klee’s Charged Attack damage

Pro Tip: Consider pairing Klee with Bennett for Pyro resonance, healing, and a massive ATK buff — he remains one of her best supports in every team!

Talents & Constellations

Talent Priority

Klee’s talent priority has shifted post-Hexerei:

  1. Normal Attack — Now top priority. Post-buff, Normal Attacks are integral to building Boom Boost stacks and triggering free Charged Attacks during her Burst. Plunging Attack damage also scales with this talent
  2. Elemental Skill — Second priority; Jumpy Dumpty generates Explosive Sparks and energy, and triggers DEF Shred at C2
  3. Elemental Burst — Level last; the Burst is important for enabling her smoother combo loop, but raw Burst talent damage is the smallest contributor to her overall DPS

Constellation Overview

C0 (Base) — Klee is fully viable at C0 post-Hexerei buffs. The Hexerei mechanism upgrade applies at C0 after completing Witch’s Homework. C0 achieves approximately 85% of C2 performance — more than enough for all content.

C1 — Attacks and Skills have a chance to trigger additional explosions dealing 120% of Sparks ‘n’ Splash’s DMG. Post-buff, also triggers a 60% ATK boost for 12s after the proc — a significant damage increase. Note: C1 generally offers a bigger damage increase than most R1 5-star weapons.

C2 (Best Stopping Point) — Jumpy Dumpty’s mines now decrease enemy DEF by 23% for 10s on any hit (post-buff upgrade from requiring mine contact specifically). This team-wide DEF shred is excellent and makes C2 the ideal stopping point. Klee at C2 can also be played in a light support/sub-DPS role since her mines persist after she swaps off.

C4 — When Sparks ‘n’ Splash ends, an explosion triggers — and if Klee is on-field, it deals 100% increased damage. Allows more flexible rotation timing. Decent but not a priority stopping point.

C6 — Klee’s strongest constellation post-buff: 25% Pyro DMG Bonus during Burst + 50% chance to not consume Explosive Spark + 40% chance for free additional Charged Attacks with another Hexerei member. Also provides 3 Energy every 3s to all party members (except Klee) and 10% Pyro DMG Bonus (50% for Klee) for 25s after Burst. Massively increases sustained Charged Attack output.

Note: C2 is the recommended stopping point for most players. Klee is available on the Chronicled Wish banner, making constellation targeting more accessible than standard banner characters.

Gameplay Tips

  • Always complete Witch’s Homework quest before using Klee — Hexerei buffs do not activate without it
  • Build all 3 Boom Boost stacks early before spending Explosive Sparks on Charged Attacks — higher stacks = 150% damage on enhanced Charged Attacks
  • Watch for the golden floating flower icon near Klee — this signals an Explosive Spark is available for a free, enhanced Charged Attack
  • Use the double Charged Attack cancel: after gaining an Explosive Spark, do Normal Attack → Charged Attack → Dash → Charged Attack to consume the same Spark twice, dealing double the enhanced Charged Attack damage (animation cancel technique)
  • Use Klee’s Elemental Burst to cancel long animations mid-rotation — cast it right after Jumpy Dumpty leaves her hand to avoid canceling the skill itself
  • Kazuha is especially valuable for Klee because his grouping collects scattered Jumpy Dumpty mines onto enemies, increasing their hit count significantly
  • Klee is very fragile — position carefully and use Charged Attack stuns on enemies to create safe damage windows
  • Her Burst generates 3 Energy every 3s for all party members (except herself) — a useful team-wide battery tool
