    Dratona
    • Dratona, Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona are all Cogni genus pets for Elyos and Asmodians.
    • All three share the same Pet Insight stats — max level gives HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1.
    • Dratona has the most open-world farming options — 8 spawn areas in Altgard across multiple monster types.
    • Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona have no open-world soul drops — they come only from dungeons and chests.
    • All three drop from Nightmare Altar on all four difficulties including Extreme.
    • Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona also drop from Sanctum of Loathing Extreme, which most other Cogni pets do not.
    • You need 100 total souls to max any pet from unlock to Lv. 3.

What Are the Dratona Cogni Pets in AION 2?

Dratona, Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona are three Common Cogni pets in AION 2. They all come from the same creature family and share the same visual design style, but they have different appearances and different ways to farm their souls. All three belong to the Cogni genus, which means they contribute to your Cogni Genus Insight pool and give permanent HP and Critical Hit bonuses as you level them up.

The key thing that sets this trio apart from other Cogni pets is Dratona’s open-world farming. The base Dratona has 8 monster spawn areas in Altgard across multiple mob types, making it one of the best Cogni pets to soul farm in a single zone. The Tinkerer and Elite variants are dungeon-locked, but they are still worth unlocking for the collection bonuses they add.

If you want to see which Cogni pets give the best return on farming time, check our AION 2 best pets to farm for stats guide.

Dratona, Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona Stats – Pet Insight Levels

All three pets share identical Pet Insight progression. Here is exactly what you get at each level:

Pet Insight Level 1 – Mount

    • Owned Effect: HP +10
    • Unlocks: Mount ability
    • Genus Insight EXP: +500
    • Souls needed to reach Lv. 2: 25 souls

Pet Insight Level 2 – Mount Glide

    • Owned Effect: HP +20, Critical Hit +1
    • Unlocks: Mount Glide
    • Genus Insight EXP: +250
    • Souls needed to reach Lv. 3: 75 souls

Pet Insight Level 3 – Transform (Max Level)

    • Owned Effect: HP +30, Critical Hit +2, Might +1
    • Unlocks: Transform ability
    • Genus Insight EXP: +250
    • This is the highest Pet Insight level in the global version of AION 2.

You need 5 souls to first unlock the pet, then 25 more to reach Lv. 2, and 75 more to hit max level — 100 souls total after unlock. At max level, Transform lets you use Empathy Candy (Bound) to take on the pet’s appearance. For more on the full pet progression system, see our AION 2 list of all pets guide.

Dratona vs Dratona Tinkerer vs Elite Dratona – What Is the Difference?

The stats are the same across all three. The big differences are in appearance, soul farming availability, and dungeon sources.

    Dratona

    • Has open-world soul farming — 8 spawn areas in Altgard across Dratona Tinkerer (Lv. 19), Dratona Supporter (Lv. 20), Dratona (Lv. 32), and Scarlet Forest Dratona (Lv. 41)
    • Also spawns in Verteron (1 area)
    • Drops from Nightmare Altar on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Does not drop from Sanctum of Loathing
    • Has 16 total confirmed sources

    Dratona Tinkerer

    • No open-world soul drop — only obtainable through dungeons and chests
    • Drops from Nightmare Altar on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Drops from Sanctum of Loathing on all four difficulties including Extreme
    • No separate soul item exists — only the pet drop itself

    Elite Dratona

    • No open-world soul drop — dungeon and chest sources only
    • Drops from Nightmare Altar on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Drops from Sanctum of Loathing on all four difficulties including Extreme
    • Has a distinct upgraded appearance compared to the base Dratona

The Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona have access to Sanctum of Loathing on Extreme difficulty, which is a source most Cogni pets do not have. If you are already running Extreme Ascension Trials, these two are worth picking up at the same time.

How to Get Dratona in AION 2

    Dratona

Dratona has 16 confirmed sources — more than most Cogni pets. Here is the full list:

    • Black Cloud Merchants – Special and Pets tabs (rotating stock)
    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement
    • Nightmare Altar – Ascension Trial on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Monster soul drops in Altgard (8 spawn areas total):
      • Dratona Tinkerer (Level 19) – 1 spawn area
      • Dratona Supporter (Level 20) – 2 spawn areas
      • Dratona (Level 32) – 5 spawn areas
    • Scarlet Forest Dratona (Level 41) – soul drop, exact spawn area count not listed
    • Verteron – 1 monster spawn area

This is one of the most farmable Cogni pets in the early and mid game. With 8 spawn areas in Altgard alone, you can loop through multiple mob types and stack up souls quickly during a single farming session. If you are new and looking at which pets to grind first, Dratona is worth prioritizing early.

How to Get Dratona Tinkerer in AION 2

    Dratona Tinkerer
    Dratona Tinkerer

The Dratona Tinkerer has no open-world soul drop. You get it from chests and dungeons only:

    • Black Cloud Merchants – Special and Pets tabs
    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement
    • Nightmare Altar – Ascension Trial on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Sanctum of Loathing – Ascension Trial on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme

Since there is no open-world farming for this pet, the fastest routes are opening Pet Chests: Cogni (Bound) and running Ascension Trials. The Sanctum of Loathing Extreme run is a notable source here — if you are already doing Extreme content, it is worth adding to your routine.

How to Get Elite Dratona in AION 2

    Elite Dratona
    Elite Dratona

Elite Dratona follows the same pattern as the Tinkerer — dungeon and chest sources only, no open-world drop:

    • Black Cloud Merchants – Special and Pets tabs
    • Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound)
    • Growth Pet Chest (Bound)
    • My Reliable Friends II Achievement
    • Nightmare Altar – Ascension Trial on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme
    • Sanctum of Loathing – Ascension Trial on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme

Elite Dratona and Dratona Tinkerer have an identical source list. When you run Nightmare Altar or Sanctum of Loathing, you have a chance to pick up both at the same time. For tips on running Ascension Trials efficiently, check our AION 2 best duty missions guide.

Where to Farm Dratona Souls in AION 2

Only the base Dratona has open-world soul farming. Here are all the monster sources confirmed:

    Altgard – 8 Spawn Areas

    • Dratona Tinkerer (Level 19) – 1 spawn area
    • Dratona Supporter (Level 20) – 2 spawn areas
    • Dratona (Level 32) – 5 spawn areas

    Verteron – 1 Spawn Area

    • Dratona monster (exact level varies) – 1 spawn area

Altgard is by far the best zone for Dratona soul farming. With multiple monster types in the same zone at different levels, you can run circuits and hit all spawn points in one loop. The Level 32 Dratona with 5 spawn areas is your main target once you are high enough level to kill them quickly.

Once Dratona is maxed in your collection, kills on these monsters start dropping Cogni Soul Crystals instead, which feed directly into your Genus Insight progression. That makes Altgard a reliable passive source of Cogni crystals even after you have maxed the pet.

Why These Dratona Pets Are Worth Adding to Your Collection

All three Dratona pets give Critical Hit as an owned effect at max level. Critical Hit matters across most classes — it is a core offensive stat for Ranger, Gladiator, Spiritmaster, and more. Owning all three Dratona variants adds three separate contributions to your Cogni Genus Insight EXP bar.

The Cogni Genus Insight system has 10 levels, each unlocking a new slot for bonus stats via analysis. The more Cogni pets you max, the faster you push through those levels. Even if you are not using a Dratona as your active equipped pet, the owned effect is active just from having it in your collection.

Tips for Getting All Three Dratona Pets Fast

    • Start with Dratona open-world farming in Altgard — 8 spawn areas across multiple mob types makes it the fastest Cogni pet to soul farm at low levels.
    • Run Nightmare Altar on all difficulties — all three pets drop here, so every run has a chance to tick off multiple pets at once.
    • Add Sanctum of Loathing Extreme to your rotation — Dratona Tinkerer and Elite Dratona both drop there, and most players skip this source.
    • Open every Pet Chest: Cogni (Bound) you get — all three Dratona pets are in the Cogni chest loot table. Duplicates convert to souls automatically.
    • Check Black Cloud Merchants daily — the rotating stock sometimes includes all three variants. Grab whichever is listed when it shows up.
    • Complete My Reliable Friends II — this achievement gives a guaranteed pet for all three, so work toward it if you have not finished it yet.

Dratona Pets in Your Cogni Collection

The three Dratona pets sit alongside other Cogni creatures from the same zone family. Altgard has several Cogni pet monsters, and running it for Dratona souls also gives you progress toward other pets you may be farming at the same time.

If you are building toward a Transform skin, any of the three Dratona pets works once maxed to Insight Lv. 3. All require Level 1 to use, so there is no barrier to equipping them early.
