TL;DR
- There are 8 merchant types in The Blood of Dawnwalker: Blacksmiths, Armourers, General Stores, Medics, Witchcraft Vendors, Swordmastery Teachers, Taverns (Innkeepers), and a Silver Trader.
- The game has 4 Blacksmiths, 4 Armourers, 9 General Stores, 4 Medics, 4 Witchcraft Vendors, 4 Swordmastery Teachers, 4 Taverns, and 1 Silver Trader.
- Climb all 11 Scouting Towers to reveal every merchant icon on your map automatically.
- Most merchants are daytime only — some close at night, so plan your visits during the day.
- Merchant inventories refresh daily, but Manuals and Recipes stay permanent stock.
- Some merchants are hidden and only unlock after completing specific quests.
- The Silver Trader is the only vendor who buys silver — and you need Infamy Level 4 or the Into The Den quest to access him.
All merchant locations in The Blood of Dawnwalker are spread across the open world of Vale Sangora, and knowing where each one sits saves real time given the 30-day clock. Different vendor types sell completely different things — you buy swords from Blacksmiths, armour from Armourers, and potions from Medics, for example. Some merchants only appear after you complete specific quests. A few only operate during the day. And one very important merchant — the Silver Trader — requires you to unlock him before he will do business with you at all. This guide covers every vendor type, what they sell, where to find them, and what you need to do to unlock the hidden ones. For a broader overview of what you should be doing between merchant visits, see our complete quest list for The Blood of Dawnwalker. If you are working through Lacra’s questline, also check our guide on how to save Lacra before heading into her final quest.
How To Reveal All Merchants On The Map
The fastest way to find every merchant is to climb all 11 Scouting Towers across Vale Sangora. Each tower you climb reveals all nearby collectibles, quests, and vendor icons on your map as white question mark icons. After climbing all 11, every merchant in the game appears on your map automatically. This should be one of the first things you do after the Prologue.
Each merchant type has its own icon colour and shape. Merchants are daytime businesses in most cases — most of them close at night and only reopen at dawn. Plan your shopping runs during the day and use your night-time hours for combat activities and Court work instead.
Merchant weapon and armour inventories refresh at the start of each in-game day with randomised rarity — sometimes a merchant will have Legendary or Epic items for sale. Manuals and Recipes are permanent stock and do not change. Check vendors regularly during your playthrough since Legendary gear can sometimes appear for direct purchase.
Blacksmith Locations (4 Total)
Blacksmiths sell swords and Swordmastery Skill Manuals. You can also upgrade your sword level at them in exchange for Denarii. They are marked on the map by a white sword icon. There are 4 Blacksmiths in the game, found in the following areas:
- Blacksmith 1 — Maragir (Maragir Wealds): One of the first Blacksmiths you can access after the Prologue. Located in the village of Maragir in the Maragir Wealds region. Part of a cluster of merchants in that village.
- Blacksmith 2 — Parlita (Boar’s Back): Found in the village of Parlita in the Boar’s Back region. Sells swords and Swordmastery Manuals. Sword inventory can change daily and has a chance to include Legendary and Epic rarity weapons.
- Blacksmith 3 — Svartrau City (northwest of the Cathedral Complex): Located northwest of the Cathedral Complex inside Svartrau City. This Blacksmith has a higher chance of stocking Legendary swords when his inventory refreshes and has The Runner-Up Legendary Sword available for purchase.
- Blacksmith 4 — Tantari (St. Tyna’s Grove): Located in the Tantari area of St. Tyna’s Grove, alongside an Armourer and a General Store merchant in the same cluster.

Blacksmiths are essential for upgrading your current sword to keep its damage relevant as you scale into harder fights. If you find a Legendary weapon early, upgrading it at a Blacksmith rather than replacing it is often the smarter move. For tips on building around your weapons, see our best skills to level up guide.
Armourer Locations (4 Total)
Armourers sell armour pieces and Skill Manuals including important ones like Second Skin I and II, which let Coen wear medium and heavy armour without penalties. They also let you upgrade your armour to keep its stats current. Armourers are marked by a white armour icon. There are 4 in total:
- Armourer 1 — Maragir (Maragir Wealds) — Day Only: Located in the village of Maragir. Only available during the day. Sells the Second Skin I Manual which removes the movement penalty for wearing medium armour. One of the most important early purchases.
- Armourer 2 — Southwest Svartrau City: Found in the southwest corner of Svartrau City. Sells Second Skin II which removes the penalty for heavy armour. Available during the day.
- Armourer 3 — Svartrau City Marketplace — Day Only: Located in the marketplace area of Svartrau City. Only available during the day. Carries additional armour stock and manuals that complement what the southwest Armourer sells.
- Armourer 4 — Tantari (St. Tyna’s Grove): Located in Tantari alongside the Blacksmith and General Store in that settlement cluster. Sells the Walking Fortress Manual which is useful for tank-oriented builds.

Also worth noting: the Altenmarkt district of Svartrau City has a separate Armourer in the northwest section of the city. This one stocks the Mercenary’s Greaves Legendary Leggings and two Second Skin Manuals. If you want to invest in the Bewitching Influence skill branch, its third tier upgrade causes vendors including Armourers to offer higher quality goods.
General Store Locations (9 Total)
General Stores sell Consumables, Crafting Ingredients, Skill Manuals, Recipes, and Accessories. They are marked by a white pouch icon. There are 9 General Stores across Vale Sangora — the most of any merchant type in the game. Most are found in villages and settlements:
- Laslea Glen — in the starting village
- Maragir — in the village of Maragir, Maragir Wealds
- Parlita — in the village of Parlita, Boar’s Back
- Svartrau City — multiple General Stores in different districts including the main city area and Silberstein
- Middens (Svartrau City) — the Peddler of Wonders, a witchcraft-adjacent General Store with a strong recipe selection including Legendary and Epic crafting recipes and a variety of Witchcraft Manuals. One of the most useful shops in the game for crafting builds.
- Tantari (St. Tyna’s Grove) — a General Store alongside the Blacksmith and Armourer there
- Henrik’s Shop (Altenmarkt, Svartrau City) — located south of the Altenmarkt Shrine. Specialises in books and readable items.
- Sanzhana Merchant (Yawning Burrow, Svartrau Outskirts) — Quest Locked: This is a hidden General Store that only unlocks after completing the Pearly and Precious quest in the Sanzhani questline. After the quest ends, the merchant first appears at the quest location, then permanently moves to Yawning Burrow. This merchant stocks a unique Legendary Recipe that no other vendor carries.
The Sanzhani questline that unlocks the 9th General Store begins with the Good Home quest. It runs through Come Hither, Burrow Sorrows, Pearly and Precious, and finally Letters to Lunka. Complete that chain to open the Sanzhana Merchant permanently.
Medic Locations (4 Total)
Medics sell consumable health items and crafting Recipes to make your own healing items. They are marked by a white plus (+) icon. There are 4 Medics in the game:
- Medic 1 — Maragir (Maragir Wealds): Part of the Maragir village merchant cluster alongside the Blacksmith and Armourer. Easy to access early in the game.
- Medic 2 — Altenmarkt (Svartrau City): Located east of the Altenmarkt Armourer in the northwest part of Svartrau City. Stocks a variety of potions of all rarities that change daily, plus a solid selection of crafting recipes.
- Medic 3 — Silberstein (Svartrau City): Found in the eastern Silberstein district of Svartrau City, southeast of the Silberstein Shrine. Has some of the best recipes and potions available in the game. Widely considered the most useful Medic for mid-to-late game crafting.
- Medic 4 — Anca (Crossroads Inn, St. Tyna’s Grove) — Quest Linked: Anca at the Crossroads Inn functions as a Medic and can brew the Razkovniche Elixir for free as part of The Hedgehog Herb quest. She is also part of her own questline starting with Echoes of Silenced Bells.

Witchcraft Vendor Locations (4 Total)
Witchcraft Vendors sell Potions, Crafting Ingredients, Crafting Recipes, Rings, and Amulets. They are also the only vendors who let you upgrade your equipment — weapons, armour, and jewellery can all be levelled up here in exchange for Denarii. They are marked by a white eye icon. There are 4 Witchcraft Vendors:
- Vera — Briar Sloughs / Maragir Wealds border (Day Only): The first Witchcraft Vendor most players find. Located in the woods between the Briar Sloughs and Maragir Wealds regions. Day only — she is asleep and her house is locked at night. Visit during the day to find her in the front yard. Sells interesting potions and recipes.
- Peddler of Wonders — Middens, Svartrau City: Found in the southern part of the Middens district of Svartrau City. Has one of the best Witchcraft Vendor inventories in the game — multiple Legendary and Epic recipes, a strong Witchcraft Manual selection, and a unique ingredients and potion stash. Always worth visiting.
- Mevasser — Neustadt, Svartrau City (Hidden): A hidden Witchcraft Vendor in the Neustadt district, west of Svartrau City. Found inside a house on the western side of the district, specifically east of the tree that occupies the city centre. Not marked on the map naturally — you have to find him by exploring the area.
- Uriashi Witchcraft Vendor — Quest Locked: This Witchcraft Vendor can only be reached after completing A Friend Like This and then Song of the Mountain. That questline leads to Uriashi Village which is where this vendor is located. It cannot be accessed any other way.

Upgrading gear at Witchcraft Vendors is especially valuable for Legendary items you find early. Since equipment scales with the level you find it, a Legendary ring or weapon from a low-level area can fall behind quickly. Pay to upgrade it at a Witchcraft Vendor to keep its stats competitive. For more on which gear to prioritise upgrading, see our ability slots guide and check the silver selling guide to build up Denarii for upgrade costs.
Swordmastery Teacher Locations (4 Total)
Swordmastery Teachers sell Skill Manuals that unlock new Swordmastery abilities and perks. They are marked by a white book icon and are all unlocked through specific side quests or Court Activities — none of them appear naturally on the map from the start. There are 4 Swordmastery Teachers:
- Ursul — Northeast of Knyaz’s Road Shrine: Unlocked by completing the Court Activity Ambrus’s Prisoners: Lucky Crossing. Walk north along Knyaz’s Road north of Svartrau City, attack the soldiers to free the hostages, and Ursul becomes available as a teacher. He carries the largest manual selection of the four teachers and is the most important one to unlock early. See our Under Watchful Eyes quest guide for the relevant Court Activity context.
- Catalin’s Tutor — Near Lunar Manor: Unlocked through the Bakir Court Activity Bakir’s Pillories: Old Hand. At the pillory in front of Lunar Manor, choose “I’m not letting anyone hurt this man” to trigger the sub-quest Bakir’s Pillories: Catalin’s Tutor. Go to his camp northwest of the pillory, ask him to teach you, beat him in a duel, and he becomes a Swordmastery Teacher.
- Constantin — Bandit Camp west of Riverside Trail Shrine: Found at the Bandit Camp west of the Riverside Trail Shrine. You need to defeat Constantin in combat first. Once defeated, he can be recruited as a Swordmastery Teacher.
- Ocha — Svartrau City Tavern (Quest Locked): Unlocked by completing the side quest The Heart Wants What It Wants. That quest starts at a tavern in the middle of Svartrau City — talk to Ocha sitting at a table in the corner. After completing the quest and a night visit to Andrei’s hideout, Ocha becomes a Swordmastery Teacher.
Tavern / Innkeeper Locations (4 Total)
Taverns sell Consumables including food, potions, and other items to restore health and stamina. They are marked by a white mug icon. There are 4 Tavern Innkeepers across Vale Sangora:
- Tavern 1 — Parlita (Boar’s Back): Located in the village of Parlita. Also the location where the shovel is found for the Finders Keepers quest — it leans against the wall on the right side of the entrance.
- Tavern 2 — North of Svartrau City: An Innkeeper located north of the main Svartrau City area. Sells consumables from potions to food items.
- Tavern 3 — Silty Mug Inn (South of Svartrau City): The Silty Mug Inn Innkeeper is located south of Svartrau City. Sells a range of consumables including potions and food.
- Tavern 4 — Drunken Bear Inn (East of Vale Sangora): Located in the eastern part of Vale Sangora. Visit this tavern alongside exploration of the eastern regions.
Taverns are the most convenient source of food and quick consumables. They are cheaper than Medics for basic healing items and easy to plan around when passing through villages. The Silberstein Innkeeper in Svartrau City also sells a unique set of consumables worth checking.
Silver Trader Location (1 Total)
The Silver Trader is the only merchant in The Blood of Dawnwalker who buys and sells silver. Silver is considered illegal contraband under Brencis’s vampire rule — normal vendors refuse to accept it. The Silver Trader is marked by a white goblet icon and is found inside a house in Neustadt, the southwest district of Svartrau City. Enter through the door from the street.
How To Unlock The Silver Trader
The Silver Trader will not do business with you automatically. You need to unlock him through one of two routes:
- Route 1 — Complete the Into The Den prologue side quest: This is the earliest method. Into The Den is a quest available during the Prologue in Laslea Glen. Completing it reveals a note that points Coen toward a Silver Trader in Svartrau City. Once you have read that tip, the Silver Trader will appear on the map and accept silver from you when you arrive in Svartrau. When he plays coy during your first visit, tell him “I know what you’re up to” and he will agree to trade.
- Route 2 — Reach Infamy Level 4 (Notorious): If you missed the prologue quest, you can still unlock the Silver Trader by raising your overall Infamy to Level 4. Complete Court Activities to build your Infamy. At Level 4 the Silver Trader recognises your reputation and opens his shop. At Infamy Levels 1 to 3 he refuses all business.
Warning: The Silver Trader is the only source for silver selling in the entire game. If he is killed — by your actions or by accident — there is no replacement. Silver selling becomes permanently unavailable for that playthrough. Do not attack him. Selling 1000 Denarii worth of silver to him also unlocks the Smuggler trophy or achievement. For the full guide to finding and selling silver efficiently, see our silver selling guide.
The Silver Trader also sells high quality Weapons, Armour, Accessories, and Consumables that are not available elsewhere — so he is worth visiting even if you have no silver to sell.
Hidden and Quest-Locked Merchants Summary
Several vendors only appear after specific actions. Here is a quick reference:
- Sanzhana General Store Merchant — Unlocks after completing Pearly and Precious in the Sanzhani questline. Permanently at Yawning Burrow after unlocking.
- Anca (Medic / Brew NPC) — Accessible after starting the Echoes of Silenced Bells questline in St. Tyna’s Grove.
- Mevasser (Hidden Witchcraft Vendor) — Not on the map. Found manually in a house in the Neustadt district of Svartrau City, east of the central tree.
- Uriashi Witchcraft Vendor — Only accessible after completing A Friend Like This and Song of the Mountain in Lacra’s questline.
- Ursul (Swordmastery Teacher) — Unlocks via the Ambrus’s Prisoners: Lucky Crossing Court Activity.
- Catalin’s Tutor (Swordmastery Teacher) — Unlocks via the Bakir’s Pillories: Old Hand Court Activity in front of Lunar Manor.
- Constantin (Swordmastery Teacher) — Found at and unlocked by defeating him at the Bandit Camp west of Riverside Trail Shrine.
- Ocha (Swordmastery Teacher) — Unlocks after completing The Heart Wants What It Wants quest in Svartrau City.
- Silver Trader — Unlocks via the Into The Den prologue quest or by reaching Infamy Level 4.
General Tips For Using Merchants
- Visit merchants during the day. Most close at night. Vera the Witchcraft Vendor is locked in her house entirely after dark. Plan shopping runs as daytime activities and save your night-time segments for combat and Court Activities.
- Check inventories daily. Weapon and armour stocks refresh each in-game day. Legendary and Epic items can appear for purchase at Blacksmiths and Armourers on any given day.
- Do not kill merchants. Losing a merchant is permanent. The Silver Trader in particular is the only one of his kind. Be especially careful in combat near populated areas.
- Climb all 11 towers first. Every merchant icon appears on your map automatically after all towers are climbed. This removes the need to stumble across vendors by accident.
- Upgrade gear at Witchcraft Vendors regularly. Equipment does not auto-scale — if you found a Legendary item early, it will fall behind your level unless you pay to upgrade it. This is the only way to keep strong early finds competitive late in the game.
- Use Shapeshift or Mercurial Fervor to travel faster. These movement skills make merchant runs far quicker. Both are available from the Vampirism and Witchcraft trees respectively and are worth buying early.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many merchants are in The Blood of Dawnwalker?
The game has 4 Blacksmiths, 4 Armourers, 9 General Stores, 4 Medics, 4 Witchcraft Vendors, 4 Swordmastery Teachers, 4 Taverns, and 1 Silver Trader. That totals 34 individual merchant locations across Vale Sangora, though some are hidden or quest-locked and do not appear on the map until you discover or unlock them.
Where is the Silver Trader in Blood of Dawnwalker?
The Silver Trader is inside a house in the Neustadt district of Svartrau City, in the southwest section of the city. Enter through the door from the street. He will not trade with you until you either complete the Into The Den prologue quest or reach Infamy Level 4 by completing Court Activities. He is the only vendor in the game who accepts silver contraband.
Are any merchants missable in Blood of Dawnwalker?
Yes — the Silver Trader can be permanently lost if killed. He has no replacement and silver selling becomes unavailable for the rest of that playthrough. Several quest-locked merchants like the Sanzhana Merchant and the Uriashi Witchcraft Vendor require specific questlines to unlock, but none of those questlines are permanently missable as long as you have not passed the 30-day limit. The prologue-specific route to unlock the Silver Trader (Into The Den) closes after the Prologue ends, but the Infamy Level 4 route remains open throughout the game.
Do merchant inventories refresh in Blood of Dawnwalker?
Yes. Weapon, armour, accessory, and consumable stock refreshes at the start of each new in-game day with randomised rarity. Skill Manuals and Recipes are permanent stock and do not rotate. Because of this, it is worth revisiting Blacksmiths and Armourers regularly — a Legendary sword or Legendary armour piece can appear for direct purchase on any given day.
