    TL;DR

    • Vesna is a 5-star Anemo Sword character and the first Stellar Swirl main DPS in Genshin Impact.
    • Beyond the Chrysalis is her signature weapon and best-in-slot choice.
    • Whitelake Frostfeather is the top 5-star alternative if you don’t have her signature.
    • New Bough is the best 4-star gacha option, especially at higher refinements.
    • Emberwell is a craftable, free-to-play sword that works very well with her kit.
    • Pair any of these with the 4-piece Scarlet Proof artifact set for the best results.

Vesna is one of the most exciting new characters added to Genshin Impact in Version 7.1. She is a 5-star Anemo Sword character who focuses on dealing damage through Stellar Swirl reactions. Picking the right weapon for her makes a huge difference in how much damage she puts out each rotation.

This guide lists the best weapons for Vesna in Genshin Impact, from her powerful signature sword to free-to-play options you can forge. Best Weapon for Vesna — Beyond the Chrysalis

Beyond the Chrysalis is Vesna’s signature 5-star sword and her best weapon by a clear margin. It has a base ATK of 674 and a secondary stat of 44.1% CRIT DMG. That alone makes it a strong sword for any DPS, but the real strength is in its passive.

The passive is called Dance of Wings Unbound. Each time Vesna uses her Elemental Skill or Elemental Burst, she gains one of three effects in sequence:

    • Winds of Devotion: Increases CRIT DMG by up to 56% for 10 seconds.
    • Winds of Defiance: Increases Stellar Swirl reaction damage by up to 36% for 10 seconds.
    • Winds of Plenty: Restores up to 5 Elemental Energy every 4 seconds.

Since Vesna uses her Elemental Skill six times each rotation, all three effects can be active at the same time. This means she can gain up to 100% CRIT DMG and 20 Elemental Energy per rotation, which is huge for her performance.

Compared to Emberwell, equipping Beyond the Chrysalis raises Vesna’s ATK to around 2,621 and her CRIT DMG to around 226.2%. That is a personal damage improvement of roughly 23% over other weapon choices. It also reduces her Energy Recharge needs, making it easier to use her Burst every rotation.

If you are planning to build Vesna as your main Stellar Swirl DPS, this weapon is worth pulling. Keep in mind it is available only during its limited Epitome Invocation banner window, so don’t miss it if you want it.

Best 5-Star Alternative — Whitelake Frostfeather

If you already own Whitelake Frostfeather, you are in great shape. This is Odette’s signature sword, but it works very well on Vesna too. It provides CRIT Rate as a secondary stat, which helps you balance your CRIT ratio without relying on substats as much.

Its passive rewards Vesna for hitting enemies after using her Elemental Skill, stacking ATK in the process. At full stacks, it also boosts Stellar reaction damage and can restore Elemental Energy. This makes it a close second to Beyond the Chrysalis and comfortably better than any other 5-star alternative on Vesna.

If you pulled Whitelake Frostfeather for Odette and already have her built, you can safely share it with Vesna in teams where both are not on the field at the same time. Check out our Vesna Best Teams guide for which characters are on-field versus off-field in her best setups.

    Second 5-Star Alternative — Azurelight

Azurelight is another 5-star sword worth considering if you have it. It carries a CRIT Rate secondary stat, similar to Whitelake Frostfeather, which again helps you reach a healthy CRIT ratio. Its passive is also compatible with Vesna’s reaction-heavy playstyle and provides useful offensive buffs during her rotation.

It is not quite as strong as Whitelake Frostfeather for Vesna, but it is still a solid step above the 4-star options if you already own it from previous banners.

Best 4-Star Option — New Bough

New Bough is the strongest 4-star option for Vesna. It has a CRIT DMG secondary stat of 55.1%, which is very high for a 4-star weapon, and its passive is well-suited to how Vesna plays.

After Vesna uses her Elemental Skill — which infuses her attacks with Anemo — New Bough starts stacking ATK% and Elemental Mastery. This syncs naturally with her rotation since she uses her Skill frequently. The result is a steady boost to both her raw damage and her Stellar Swirl reaction output.

At high refinements, New Bough can close to nearly 10% ahead of event weapons like Silver Light. However, at Refinement 1, it can slightly trail behind Silver Light. Since New Bough is a banner-exclusive 4-star, you are likely to get refinements on it only if you are also pulling for Beyond the Chrysalis on the same banner.

Still, even at R1, it is one of her best 4-star choices and a great option if you pick it up while wishing.

    Best Free-to-Play Option — Emberwell

Emberwell is Vesna’s best weapon for free-to-play players. It is a craftable 4-star sword, meaning you do not need to pull for it on any banner. You can forge it using Snezhnaya region materials, making it accessible from early in your exploration of the new area.

Emberwell has an Elemental Mastery secondary stat of 165. Its passive has two parts. First, it increases ATK% and Stellar Glimmer reaction damage after Vesna triggers an Elemental Reaction. Second, it gives a bonus to reaction damage specifically when Vesna triggers Stellar Glimmer reactions.

Vesna is Anemo, so she is always the one triggering Stellar Swirl. This gives her consistent uptime on both halves of Emberwell’s passive. Including a healer in her team also clears the Bond of Life effect tied to the passive, which unlocks the additional ATK bonus reliably.

Emberwell is especially good if you are running Vesna in a Stellar Swirl team where Elemental Mastery contributes to reaction damage. It does not solve CRIT building the way New Bough does, but it is a fully functional weapon in endgame content and costs you nothing extra to obtain. You can pair it with good CRIT substats on your Scarlet Proof artifacts to make up the difference.

    Other Weapon Options Worth Knowing

    Heretic’s Molten Blade

Heretic’s Molten Blade is a 4-star sword with a CRIT Rate secondary stat. It is listed among Vesna’s recommended weapons in several community tier lists and provides decent offensive value for her kit. If you have it and lack New Bough or Emberwell, it is a usable option.

    Silver Light

Silver Light is a version 7.1 event weapon, meaning it was available for free during a limited event. If you obtained it, it sits between New Bough R1 and Emberwell R5 in performance. It has an ATK% secondary stat and an event-weapon passive that benefits Vesna’s reaction playstyle. Keep it if you got it — it’s a competitive choice.

    Harbinger of Dawn

Harbinger of Dawn is a 3-star sword that shows up in community data as a weapon some players use on Vesna. It has CRIT DMG as a secondary stat, and its passive increases CRIT Rate when your HP is above 90%. This is a budget option and works in a pinch, but it requires keeping Vesna at high HP, which adds a condition to manage. It performs below Emberwell in most practical situations.

    Exaiphanes Blade

Exaiphanes Blade is another weapon that appears in community-used builds for Vesna. If you are interested in upgrading or refining it, check out our guide on how to upgrade and refine Exaiphanes Blade.

    Vesna Weapon Priority Summary

Here is a simple tier breakdown to help you decide which weapon to use:

    • S Tier: Beyond the Chrysalis — pull if you are committed to Vesna as your main DPS.
    • A Tier: Whitelake Frostfeather — excellent alternative if you already have it.
    • A Tier: Azurelight — solid secondary 5-star pick if available.
    • B Tier: New Bough — best 4-star choice, especially at R3 and above.
    • B Tier: Emberwell — best free option, reliable and easy to get.
    • C Tier: Silver Light, Heretic’s Molten Blade, Harbinger of Dawn — usable substitutes.

What Stats Should You Prioritize on Vesna?

Regardless of which weapon you pick, Vesna’s artifact and substat priorities stay the same. Aim for:

    • Sands: ATK%
    • Goblet: ATK%
    • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (balance to a 1:2 CRIT Rate to CRIT DMG ratio)
    • Substats: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG / ATK% / Elemental Mastery / Energy Recharge

If you are using Emberwell, leaning slightly more into CRIT substats is a good idea since you get Elemental Mastery from the weapon itself. If you are using Beyond the Chrysalis or New Bough, you already get strong CRIT DMG from the weapon, so focus on building CRIT Rate through substats to hit that 1:2 balance.

Vesna’s talent priority is Elemental Skill first, then Elemental Burst. You can skip leveling her Normal Attack talent since it contributes very little to her kit. For a full breakdown of what you need to raise her talents and ascend her, see our Vesna Ascension and Talent Materials guide.

Does Vesna Need Her Signature Weapon?

She does not strictly need it. Vesna is fully playable in endgame content with Emberwell or New Bough. The free craftable Emberwell in particular makes her accessible to all players. That said, Beyond the Chrysalis gives a meaningful personal damage boost of around 23% and makes her rotation smoother by helping with Energy Recharge. If you are planning to invest heavily in Vesna and use her in Spiral Abyss or Imaginarium Theater, the signature weapon is a strong pull for her.

You can download Genshin Impact for free on Android, iOS, PlayStation, Epic Games, and Xbox to try Vesna for yourself.
