    Vesna Build Overview

Vesna is a 5-star Anemo Sword character released in Genshin Impact Version 7.1. She plays as an on-field main DPS whose damage comes almost entirely from the Stellar Swirl reaction. This makes her very different from a typical Anemo support like Kazuha or Venti. She stays on the field, attacks with Spirit Blades and Windborne Sword, and converts Cryo Swirls into Stellar Swirls to deal massive reaction damage.

For a full overview of her lore, kit mechanics, ascension materials, and constellations, check out our dedicated Vesna character page. This guide focuses specifically on how to build her for maximum damage. You will also find the Scarlet Proof artifact set is the cornerstone of her build, so keep that in mind as you read on.

    How Vesna’s Damage Works

Before building her, it helps to understand what actually drives her damage. Vesna’s passive talent converts Cryo Swirls triggered by her party into Stellar Swirl reactions. Once a Stellar Swirl triggers near her, she enters the Radiance: Stellar Swirl state for 8 seconds. During this state, her Spirit Blade attacks count as direct Stellar Swirl reaction damage.

Her passive also adds bonus base Stellar Swirl damage based on her ATK — up to 14% for every 100 ATK she has. This is why ATK matters so much for Vesna. Unlike traditional Swirl characters that scale off Elemental Mastery, Vesna’s Stellar Swirl damage scales off ATK and CRIT stats. Do not build her like a regular Anemo support. She is a CRIT carry who happens to deal Swirl damage.

This also means an Anemo DMG Bonus goblet is wasteful on her. Her Spirit Blade hits are tagged as Stellar Swirl damage, not plain Anemo damage, so an ATK% goblet often outperforms an Anemo goblet depending on your other stats. Best Weapons for Vesna

Beyond the Chrysalis — Best in Slot (5-Star Sword)

This is Vesna’s signature weapon and her clear number one choice. It provides high base ATK and a large amount of CRIT DMG as a secondary stat. Its passive cycles through CRIT DMG bonuses, Stellar Swirl reaction damage boosts, and energy restoration — covering almost everything Vesna wants in a single weapon. It is roughly 30% stronger than the free Silver Light event sword and about 25% better than a max refinement Emberwell. If you pull on the weapon banner, this is the right choice for her.

Whitelake Frostfeather — Best 5-Star Alternative

If you already have Whitelake Frostfeather from a previous banner, it is Vesna’s best non-signature 5-star option. It offers high base ATK, a CRIT Rate secondary stat, and effects that suit her Stellar Swirl playstyle well. For more on this weapon, visit our Whitelake Frostfeather guide.

New Bough — Best 4-Star Option

New Bough is the top 4-star option for Vesna. It provides CRIT DMG, ATK bonuses, and a passive that rewards reaction-heavy playstyles. At high refinement, it can even come close to some 5-star alternatives, making it a strong choice for players who did not pull her signature.

    Emberwell — Best Free-to-Play Option

Emberwell is a craftable 4-star sword and Vesna’s best free option. Its passive gives Elemental Mastery and an ATK bonus when triggering Elemental Reactions, both of which fire during her normal rotation. Stellar Swirl triggers also gain additional reaction damage from its passive. Both halves of the passive activate reliably, making Emberwell very efficient for a free weapon.

Silver Light — Event Free Alternative

Silver Light is another solid stop-gap option, often available through events. It does not reach Emberwell’s damage ceiling, but it works fine while you farm or save for something better.

    Other Viable 5-Star Swords

If you have older 5-star swords in storage, Absolution, Primordial Jade Cutter, and Light of Foliar Incision are all usable alternatives depending on your artifact stats. Jade Cutter helps if you need extra CRIT Rate to reach the 70–80% target. Foliar Incision scales well with Elemental Mastery, which adds some value in Stellar Swirl teams.

    Best Artifacts for Vesna

4-Piece Scarlet Proof — Best in Slot

The Scarlet Proof set is purpose-built for Stellar Swirl damage dealers. The 2-piece bonus gives 18% ATK. The 4-piece bonus grants 16% CRIT Rate and 40% Stellar Swirl reaction damage for 10 seconds after triggering a Stellar Swirl — a window that lines up almost perfectly with her Radiance: Stellar Swirl state duration. No other artifact set comes close for Vesna. The CRIT Rate bonus from this set also makes it easier to reach your target ratios without over-stacking CRIT Rate in substats.

Conveniently, Scarlet Proof drops from the same domain as Heart of the Furnace, which is the best support artifact set for her teammates. Farming both at once is very efficient.

    4-Piece Viridescent Venerer — Stopgap

While you are still farming for Scarlet Proof, Viridescent Venerer is the standard temporary option. It reduces Cryo resistance on enemies, which helps the whole team deal more damage. However, it falls behind Scarlet Proof by a significant margin once Vesna is dealing consistent Stellar Swirl hits, so replace it as soon as you can.

    Vesna Artifact Main Stats

    • Sands: ATK%
    • Goblet: ATK% (often outperforms Anemo DMG%) or Anemo DMG Bonus if you need the damage type bonus
    • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG (choose based on which you need more to reach a balanced ratio)

    Vesna Substat Priority

    • CRIT Rate (target 70–80% with the Scarlet Proof 4-piece bonus active)
    • CRIT DMG (target 150–200%)
    • ATK%
    • Elemental Mastery (adds some Stellar Swirl damage but is less efficient than ATK and CRIT for Vesna)
    • Energy Recharge (aim for around 100–130% depending on your team’s energy generation)

One common mistake is stacking Elemental Mastery on Vesna the way you would on a traditional Swirl character like Sucrose or Kazuha. Her Stellar Swirl scales off ATK much more than EM, so always prioritize CRIT and ATK before considering EM substats.

    Vesna Talent Priority

    • First priority: Elemental Skill — The Art of Victory
    • Second priority: Elemental Burst — For the Tsaritsa!
    • Last: Normal Attack — Vila Blade Dance

Vesna cannot deal Stellar Swirl damage through her Normal Attacks. Her core damage comes from her Elemental Skill’s Windborne Sword hits and Spirit Blades. Level her Elemental Skill first, then her Burst. The Normal Attack talent provides little value and can stay at level 1 or 6 without impacting her damage meaningfully.

    Vesna Rotation Guide

Vesna’s combat is built around a single 15-second damage window. Getting this window right is the most important skill to master when playing her. Here is how a standard rotation works:

    1. Use all off-field support abilities first — activate Vodyanitsa’s skill for shredding and healing, apply Cryo with Cryo Traveler, activate Odette’s off-field Cryo effects.
    2. Swap to Vesna and immediately cast her Elemental Skill, The Art of Victory, to enter Armed for Action mode.
    3. A Cryo Swirl triggers and converts to Stellar Swirl, putting her in Radiance: Stellar Swirl for 8 seconds.
    4. Use Windborne Sword — your enhanced Elemental Skill attacks — multiple times, escalating through the three usage tiers to maximize Spirit Blade hits.
    5. Use her Elemental Burst when it is ready to deal AoE damage, refresh Sword Essence, and gain Disciplinary Action stacks from her Ascension 1 passive.
    6. Continue Spirit Blade and Windborne Sword attacks until the Radiance: Stellar Swirl window ends.
    7. Swap out to off-field supports to reapply buffs and Cryo, then repeat.

The key check to confirm your rotation landed correctly: Spirit Blade hits should read as Stellar Swirl damage numbers rather than plain Anemo, and this only happens while Radiance: Stellar Swirl is active. If you see plain Anemo damage instead of Stellar Swirl tags, something in your rotation is off.

    Best Teams for Vesna

Vesna’s damage depends entirely on triggering Stellar Swirl consistently. That requires at least one Cryo character with reliable off-field Cryo application. Every team you build for her should start with that requirement in mind. For more on the best Stellar Swirl teams in the current meta, see our best Stellar Swirl teams guide.

Premium Team: Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa

This is the strongest and most comfortable team for Vesna in Version 7.1. Odette is her best Cryo support — she provides great off-field Cryo application, a 60% Stellar Swirl damage bonus, a 14% base damage bonus for Stellar damage, and solid personal sub-DPS numbers. Cryo Traveler adds additional off-field Cryo and often deals a large chunk of the team’s total damage. Vodyanitsa covers healing, interruption resistance, and shreds Anemo resistance on enemies. This lineup is the most well-rounded option and regularly achieves above 200,000 DPS in tests. To see how Odette best fits into this team, check our Odette best build guide.

    Premium High-Ceiling: Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + C6 Faruzan

Swapping Vodyanitsa for a C6 Faruzan raises the damage ceiling compared to the Vodyanitsa variant but removes your healer. Faruzan provides an additive damage buff, strong Anemo resistance shred, and energy generation for Vesna’s Burst. This is the team for players comfortable without a healer and who want to push the highest possible personal damage numbers. C6 is ideal but not strictly required — lower constellation Faruzan still contributes meaningfully.

Budget Team: Vesna + Diona + Cryo Traveler + Sucrose

A reliable and accessible budget option. Diona applies off-field Cryo, provides a shield, and heals through her Burst — her C6 even adds an Elemental Mastery buff. Sucrose shares Elemental Mastery with the party and provides Viridescent Venerer RES shred. The ceiling is lower than premium lineups, but this team clears most Spiral Abyss content comfortably. See our best Cryo Traveler teams guide for more team ideas featuring him.

Characters That Work Well with Vesna

    • Odette: Her single best teammate. Outstanding off-field Cryo, Stellar Swirl buffs, and sub-DPS value in one slot.
    • Cryo Traveler: Essential Cryo sub-DPS. Often deals 30–40% of the team’s total damage. For Cryo Traveler builds, check our Cryo Traveler best build guide.
    • Faruzan: Best Anemo buffer in the game. Anemo RES shred and additive damage bonus for Vesna. C6 is strongest but lower constellations still help.
    • Vodyanitsa: The all-in-one support released alongside Vesna. Healing, Anemo RES shred, interruption resistance, and Stellar Swirl buffs in one slot.
    • Diona: Budget Cryo support. Shield, healing, off-field Cryo, and EM buff at C6.
    • Sucrose: EM sharing, Viridescent Venerer RES shred. Strong budget support in the flex slot.
    • Qiqi: Off-field Cryo and healing. Less damage output than Odette or Diona but very comfortable if you need sustain.

Characters to Avoid Pairing with Vesna

Kazuha and Venti both love being on the field and do not provide buffs relevant to Stellar Swirl, so they are generally not great picks for her team. Pyro and Electro characters create unwanted reactions that can displace Cryo from enemies, reducing Stellar Swirl uptime. Stick to Cryo and Anemo supports, with Vodyanitsa as the one exception for Hydro.

Vesna Constellations: Which Ones Are Worth It?

Vesna at C0 is a complete kit. You do not need constellations to clear all endgame content with her. That said, some constellations are notably more impactful than others.

    • C1: Grants a free high-level Windborne Sword usage in Spirit Blade state with no Sword Essence cost, plus 20% more Stellar Swirl reaction DMG in Armed for Action mode. A strong first constellation that pushes her damage noticeably.
    • C2: Instantly grants maximum Disciplinary Action stacks when entering Armed for Action mode, plus 60% ATK bonus at max stacks. This is her best constellation and transforms the opening of each rotation. Widely considered the most impactful stopping point if you plan to invest.
    • C4: Triples her Ascension 4 passive effects, resulting in up to 36% extra ATK or a combination of 24% ATK and 50 EM depending on your team’s elemental composition. About half the value of C2 but still worthwhile at C4.
    • C6: Adds 20% more Stellar Swirl damage and additional ATK bonuses at maximum Poise stacks. Pushes her total rotation past the 10 million damage mark in full investment tests. A massive power spike but expensive to reach.

If you are planning constellation investment, C2 is the best stopping point for the price. C6 is the top ceiling but requires significant pull investment to reach.

    Vesna Energy Recharge Requirements

Vesna needs her Burst ready every rotation to maintain her damage and stacks. Her energy recharge requirement changes based on your team:

    • With Favonius weapon users on the team: roughly 100–110% ER is enough.
    • Without dedicated energy support: aim for 120–130% ER to burst every rotation safely.

Her signature weapon Beyond the Chrysalis also restores energy as part of its passive rotation, making it easier to reach the needed ER with less substat investment.

    Quick Build Summary for Vesna

    • Best Weapon: Beyond the Chrysalis → Whitelake Frostfeather → New Bough → Emberwell
    • Best Artifact Set: 4-piece Scarlet Proof
    • Sands: ATK%
    • Goblet: ATK% (or Anemo DMG Bonus)
    • Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
    • Substats: CRIT Rate > CRIT DMG > ATK% > EM > ER
    • Talent Priority: Skill > Burst > Normal Attack
    • Best Team: Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa
    • Budget Team: Vesna + Diona + Cryo Traveler + Sucrose

    Should You Build Vesna?

Vesna is rated S+ tier across multiple community resources. She is one of the strongest 5-star characters released in Genshin Impact in years. If you pulled her during Version 7.1, building her is absolutely worth the investment. She clears endgame content efficiently even at C0 with free or 4-star weapons, and her ceiling with full investment is extremely high.

Her build is also relatively straightforward compared to some characters. 4-piece Scarlet Proof, ATK/CRIT stats, and Cryo teammates is all you need to understand the core of what makes her work. The Stellar Swirl rotation takes a little practice to optimize, but once it clicks it feels very rewarding.
