Who Is Vesna in Genshin Impact?
Vesna Strivozha is a 5-star Anemo Sword character who was released in Genshin Impact during the Version 7.1 update on September 23, 2026. She is one of the most exciting characters to come out of the Snezhnaya arc.
She serves as the Commander of the Druzhna, which is the Tsaritsa’s elite special forces. In terms of rank and closeness to the Tsaritsa, Vesna is considered her right hand — always by her side alongside Danica, the head housemaid of the royal household.
Vesna comes from the ancient Strivozha clan, an old Vila bloodline that predates much of Snezhnaya’s turbulent history. Her family has earned countless honors over generations, and Vesna has added to that legacy through her combat skill and unwavering loyalty. If you want to explore everything the new Snezhnaya region has to offer, check out our Snezhnaya Cryoculus locations guide to help with your exploration progress.
Despite her prestigious background, Vesna isn’t your typical noblewoman. She loves pulling pranks, annoying Danica, and letting her wild side show. Yet when duty calls, she transforms into a fierce and disciplined warrior. Her loyalty, as her official character description puts it, is as unchanging as Snezhnaya’s ancient glaciers. Vesna Lore and Background
Vesna’s design draws heavily from Slavic folklore. The Strivozha name references nymph-like fairies from Slavic mythology, beings who had ambivalent and complex relationships with humans. This gives Vesna a kind of dual nature — graceful and fae-like in appearance, but dangerous in combat.
Her constellation is named Amentum Vernum, a Latin phrase that roughly translates to “the spear strap of spring.” This ties directly to her role as Commander and her title: Snowy Banquet’s Sharp Blade.
Her personality is one of the highlights of the Snezhnaya storyline. She is mischievous and light-hearted in daily life but absolutely ruthless in battle. Players who have gone through the Snezhnaya quests will know how memorable she is as an NPC before she became playable. Vesna Abilities and Skills
Normal Attack
Vesna performs standard sword attacks in her default mode. These deal physical damage and help build up resources for her more powerful skill-based attacks. Nothing too flashy here — it’s her Elemental Skill and Burst where the real action happens.
Elemental Skill: The Art of Victory
When Vesna uses her Elemental Skill, she enters Armed for Action mode. In this state, she gains access to a special follow-up attack called Windborne Sword. This skill can be used by consuming Spirit Sword Might (also called Sword Essence in some sources), and it becomes stronger each time you use it.
At the third usage, Windborne Sword also summons Spirit Blades that deal Anemo damage. When Vesna is in the Radiance: Stellar Swirl state, all her Spirit Blades count as Stellar Swirl DMG. This is the core of her kit and why she is such a strong Stellar Swirl carry.
She also gains increased resistance to interruption while in Armed for Action mode, so she can stay on the field and deal damage without getting knocked around too much.
Elemental Burst: For the Tsaritsa!
Vesna’s Elemental Burst sends out a powerful slash in the name of the Tsaritsa. It deals a large burst of Anemo damage and contributes to her Stellar Swirl reaction uptime. It is not the biggest portion of her damage at C0, but it plays a role in her rotation and helps her maintain buff stacks.
Passive Talents
Ascension 1 — Rite of Spring’s Procession: After Vesna uses her special Windborne Sword or her Elemental Burst, she gains 1 stack of Disciplinary Action, which lasts 20 seconds. When she reaches the maximum number of stacks, her ATK is significantly increased. This passive rewards staying active on the field and using her skills consistently.
Ascension 4 — Truth Prevails: Based on the elemental composition of her party, Vesna gains additional buffs. For each Cryo or Anemo character in the party, her ATK increases by 6%. For each character of a different element, she gains 25 Elemental Mastery. This passive is why her best teams always include Cryo units — the ATK stacking from this passive is a big part of her damage.
Utility Passive — The Grand Circuit: While out of combat in Snezhnaya, if another character in the party is airborne when switched to Vesna, she can immediately cast Glimmering Entrance and begin her flying state. This makes her one of the best exploration characters in the Snezhnaya region.
Cruising (Flight Mechanic)
Vesna has a unique flight ability. If you hold a dash or jump, she unfurls her wings and begins to float and glide through the air, consuming stamina over time. During a single Cruising state, she can perform up to 3 additional leaps. This makes traversal in Snezhnaya feel truly different. Chaining this with a character like Xianyun’s triple-jump skill is transformative for exploration.
Vesna Constellations
Vesna’s constellations are named under the Amentum Vernum constellation family. Here is a quick summary of each one:
- C1: Vesna gains 1 additional Spirit Blade Dance usage in Spirit Blade state. The first use of Spirit Blade Dance in that state costs no Spirit Blade Force. She also deals 20% more Stellar Swirl reaction DMG while in the Spirit Blade state.
- C2: Enhances the Ascension 1 Passive so that Vesna instantly gains the maximum number of Disciplinary Action stacks when she enters Armed for Action mode. When at maximum stacks, her ATK is increased by 60%. This is a significant damage constellation and widely considered one of her best.
- C3: Increases the level of her Elemental Skill by 3, boosting its multipliers directly.
- C4: Triples the effects of her Ascension 4 Passive (Truth Prevails), meaning the ATK and Elemental Mastery bonuses from party composition are tripled. This translates to either 36% ATK or 24% ATK and 50 EM depending on your team makeup.
- C5: Increases the level of her Elemental Burst by 3. Since the burst is a smaller portion of her total damage at higher constellation levels, this is one of her weaker constellations, adding roughly 2–3% more personal damage.
- C6: Further strengthens her Spirit Blade state. When Vesna has maximum Poise stacks, her ATK is increased by 60%. Spirit Blades from her Tread skill are also enhanced by Ascension 1 effects, and her Stellar Swirl DMG is increased by an additional 20%.
In general, C0 is perfectly viable for most content. C2 is the most impactful early constellation if you plan to invest. C6 takes her to a completely different damage ceiling but is not required.

Best Weapons for Vesna
Beyond the Chrysalis (5-Star Sword) — Best in Slot
This is Vesna’s signature weapon and her clear best-in-slot option. It is roughly 30% stronger than the free event weapon Silver Light, and about 25% better than a refinement 5 Emberwell. If you are pulling on the weapon banner, this is the one to go for.
New Bough (4-Star) — Best 4-Star Option
If you do not have her signature, New Bough is the recommended 4-star alternative. It provides solid secondary stats and a passive that synergizes well with her playstyle.
Emberwell — Best Free Option
Emberwell is the top free-to-play option for Vesna. Both halves of its passive activate during her normal rotation, making it efficient despite being free to obtain.
Silver Light — Free Alternative
Silver Light, often available through events, is a solid stop-gap weapon while you farm or save for better options. It does not match Emberwell in performance but is still a usable choice.
You can also check our best weapons for Odette and best weapons for Alyosha if you are building a full Snezhnaya team.
Best Artifacts for Vesna
4-Piece Scarlet Proof — Best in Slot
The Scarlet Proof artifact set is tailor-made for Vesna. It provides Stellar Swirl DMG% and CRIT Rate bonuses that are far more valuable than anything another set can offer. Conveniently, it drops from the same domain as Heart of the Furnace, the best support set for Stellar Swirl teams, so farming both at once is very efficient.
4-Piece Viridescent Venerer — Stopgap
While you farm for Scarlet Proof, the classic Viridescent Venerer set works as a temporary option. It still provides Anemo DMG and elemental RES shred, which is always useful on an Anemo character.
Artifact Stat Priority
- Sands: ATK%
- Goblet: ATK% or Anemo DMG Bonus
- Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG
- Substats: CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK%
Elemental Mastery still adds value to her Stellar Swirl damage, but ATK and CRIT are more important. Do not stack pure EM the way you would on a traditional Swirl character like Sucrose.
Best Teams for Vesna
Vesna’s damage comes almost entirely from the Stellar Swirl reaction. This means team building is one of the most important decisions you will make when playing her. She needs Cryo teammates to trigger and amplify Stellar Swirl consistently. To learn more about how this reaction works, check out our Stellar Glimmer reaction guide.
Premium Team: Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Vodyanitsa
This is her strongest team. Odette provides the best Cryo support for Vesna teams. Cryo Traveler is a strong off-field Stellar Swirl sub-DPS who deals a large share of the team’s total damage. Vodyanitsa covers healing, interruption resistance, and shreds Cryo, Hydro, and Anemo resistance all in one slot. This lineup regularly achieves above 200,000 DPS in calibrated tests.
Buffer Variant: Vesna + Odette + Cryo Traveler + Faruzan
Swap Vodyanitsa for Faruzan, ideally at C6, for a higher personal damage ceiling with no sustain. Faruzan provides a strong additive damage buff and reduces enemy Anemo resistance. This is the team for players who are comfortable managing HP manually or have enough defensive substats to survive without a healer.
Budget Team: Vesna + Diona + Cryo Traveler + Sucrose
A strong budget option. Diona brings a shield and a healing field plus off-field Cryo application. Sucrose shares Elemental Mastery to boost Stellar Swirl damage and applies Viridescent Venerer’s RES shred. The ceiling is lower than the premium lineup, but this team clears most content comfortably. For more budget-friendly Stellar Swirl options, read about the best Stellar Swirl teams in Genshin Impact.
Who Does Vesna Work With?
- Odette: Her single best Cryo teammate. The synergy is exceptional.
- Cryo Traveler: Strong off-field damage, great sub-DPS in Stellar Swirl teams. See our best Cryo Traveler teams guide for more.
- Faruzan: Best Anemo buffer in the game. C6 is ideal but not required.
- Vodyanitsa: Released alongside Vesna in 7.1. She covers almost everything the fourth slot needs.
- Diona: Budget Cryo support with shielding and healing.
- Sucrose: EM sharing and RES shred for budget teams.
Is Vesna Worth Pulling?
Yes, Vesna is very much worth pulling if you are interested in Stellar Swirl gameplay or are building a Snezhnaya-focused team. She is rated S+ tier by multiple community resources, making her one of the strongest 5-star characters available in Version 7.1.
Her playstyle is engaging. The Armed for Action mode with escalating Windborne Sword hits, the flight mechanic for exploration, and the way she rewards smart team building all make her a satisfying character to play and invest in.
Even at C0 with a 4-star weapon, she performs very well. With her signature weapon and even C2, she becomes a top-tier carry who can clear endgame content efficiently.
If you are also building other Snezhnayan characters alongside her, she slots naturally into teams with Alyosha and Odette. And if you are looking at what bosses to fight for materials, our Chimeric Winged Lion boss guide and Immortal Construct boss guide will help you prepare.
