How to go to Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact is simpler than most players expect. Snezhnaya is the seventh and final nation in Teyvat, home of the Tsaritsa and the Fatui. It launched with Genshin Impact Version 7.0 on August 12, 2026, and the good news is that you do not need to finish every previous region to get there. The only real requirement is one early story quest — and after that, a single teleport takes you straight in.
Once you land in Snezhnaya, there is a lot waiting for you — a train system, a new combat mode, new quests, and Cryo for the Traveler. Our Stellar Glimmer reaction guide covers the new reaction type you will be using throughout the region, and our guide on how to upgrade the Exaiphanes Blade explains how to power up the free 5-star sword you get just for arriving.
TL;DR — How To Go To Snezhnaya Quick Summary
- The only requirement to access Snezhnaya is completing Archon Quest Prologue: Act III — Song of the Dragon and Freedom in Mondstadt
- No Adventure Rank gate, no need to finish Natlan or Nod-Krai first
- After completing that quest, a Teleport Waypoint appears in Snezhnaya automatically — just open the map and fast-travel
- Returning players who already finished earlier content can teleport directly without doing anything extra
- Long-time players can also reach it on foot from Nod-Krai, traveling northwest from Ashveil Peak
- Version 7.0 opens five sub-regions: Volkodlak Tundra, Everfrozen Earth, Fellfrost Peak, Flamefeather Valley, and White Birch Snowgrave
- First thing to do on arrival: resonate with Cryo at the Statue of the Seven to unlock the Cryo Traveler
What Is Snezhnaya In Genshin Impact?
Snezhnaya is the seventh and final nation of Teyvat in Genshin Impact. It is ruled by the Tsaritsa, the Cryo Archon, and serves as the headquarters of the Fatui. The region is heavily inspired by Slavic themes and is covered in snow, ice, and extreme cold. Snezhnograd is the capital city, and many key locations from Genshin Impact’s lore — the Northland Bank, the Korolevskiy Theater, and Zapolyarny Palace — all sit within Snezhnaya’s borders.
Snezhnaya is also the home region of Tartaglia (Childe), one of the game’s most popular characters. The region introduces a railway system, a new firearm-based combat mode called TPS mode inside the Shadow Realm, and the Eye of Graeae — a companion gadget you receive early in the story that powers most of the region’s exploration mechanics.

Requirements To Go To Snezhnaya
There is only one story requirement to unlock Snezhnaya, and it is surprisingly early in the game:
Complete Archon Quest Prologue: Act III — Song of the Dragon and Freedom.
That is it. You do not need a specific Adventure Rank. You do not need to finish Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, or Nod-Krai. The Mondstadt prologue is the only gate. Once that act is complete, a Teleport Waypoint appears in Snezhnaya on your world map automatically, and you can fast-travel straight to the region.
If you have already progressed well beyond that quest — which most long-time players have — then you do not need to do anything at all. The waypoint is already waiting on your map.
How To Go To Snezhnaya — Three Methods
Method 1: Fast Travel Using The Teleport Waypoint (Fastest)
This is the quickest route for almost every player. After completing Prologue Act III, open your world map and look for a new Teleport Waypoint on the border of Snezhnaya, in the northeastern part of Nod-Krai near the coast. The waypoint sits close to Dottore’s weekly boss domain, the Institute of the False Moon.
Simply select that waypoint and fast-travel directly to it. You land in Snezhnaya immediately, with no overland travel required. This is how the game is designed to be accessed, and it works for new players, returning players, and veterans alike.
If the waypoint is not showing up on your map, it almost always means Prologue Act III has not been completed yet. Go back and finish Song of the Dragon and Freedom in Mondstadt first.
Method 2: Walk Through Nod-Krai (Overland Route)
Players who prefer to travel on foot can reach Snezhnaya overland from Nod-Krai, which borders Snezhnaya directly to its south. This route works well for players who have already unlocked Nod-Krai and want to experience the journey.
- Fast-travel to the False Moon Institute Domain in Ashveil Peak — this puts you in the right corner of Nod-Krai near the frontier
- From there, head northwest toward the border
- Continue moving in that direction until you cross out of Nod-Krai and enter Snezhnaya
This route takes longer but is a great option if you want to explore the border area or if you are catching up on the Nod-Krai content at the same time.
Method 3: Progress The Archon Quest (Story Route)
If you have just unlocked Snezhnaya and want to experience it the intended way, the main Archon Quest will guide you in naturally. The Version 7.0 Archon Quest is called Everwinter Without Mercy, and it begins in Nod-Krai.
- You start by meeting Columbina in Nod-Krai, and the quest carries you south into Snezhnaya
- Along the way you pick up the Eye of Graeae and encounter Pierro
- The quest then takes you to Sretomorozsk, where you meet Alyosha and receive him as a free 4-star character
- From there you ride the train toward Snezhnograd, the capital city
This route is the most narrative experience and is the best option if you are playing Genshin Impact’s story for the first time or returning after a long break.

What To Do First When You Arrive In Snezhnaya
Resonate With Cryo At The Statue Of The Seven
The very first thing you should do in Snezhnaya is find the nearest Statue of the Seven and resonate with it. Selecting Resonate with Cryo instantly unlocks the Cryo Traveler — the seventh and final element for the Traveler character.
Unlike Natlan, where the Pyro element was locked behind several chapters of the Archon Quest, Snezhnaya hands you Cryo the moment you touch a statue. No waiting, no grinding. The Statue of the Seven at Sretomorozsk is the first one you will encounter, and it is right along the main story path.
Pick Up The Eye Of Graeae
Early in the Everwinter Without Mercy quest you receive the Eye of Graeae — also called Goggles — a companion gadget that is essential for everything in Snezhnaya. It does several things:
- Provides Kresnik Energy to resist Snezhnaya’s extreme cold in certain areas
- Lets you interact with Prime Ice Constructs for puzzles and traversal
- Enables the Grappling Gun for reaching distant platforms
- Activates TPS-mode shooting inside the Shadow Realm
Without the Eye of Graeae, you simply cannot progress through most of Snezhnaya’s content. The story gives it to you automatically, so just follow the Archon Quest and you will have it within the first hour.
Get Alyosha For Free
As you progress through the early part of Everwinter Without Mercy, you meet a character named Alyosha in Sretomorozsk. He joins your roster as a free 4-star Electro Polearm character just for continuing the quest. Make sure you complete this section before his availability window expires.
Start Upgrading The Exaiphanes Blade
Partway through the Archon Quest — specifically during the Great Deeds on the Tundra subquest — you receive the Exaiphanes Blade, a free 5-star sword designed exclusively for the Traveler. It has 608 Base ATK and 33.1% CRIT Rate at max level, and it is the Traveler’s best weapon in the game.
To upgrade it, you need to visit each Snezhnaya Statue of the Seven and hit it with a Cryo attack before interacting. Each statue gives the sword one upgrade tier. Our full Exaiphanes Blade upgrade guide has the complete step-by-step breakdown and all statue locations.

All Five Snezhnaya Sub-Regions In Version 7.0
Version 7.0 opens five named areas of Snezhnaya. Each one has its own Statue of the Seven, its own Teleport Waypoints, and unique content to explore.
- Volkodlak Tundra — Sretomorozsk, Rankova Zorya, Hunter’s Cabin. This is the entry point to Snezhnaya and the first area you explore in the Archon Quest.
- Everfrozen Earth — Snezhnograd, Morepesok, Zapolyarny Palace, Jack Frost Village. Home to the capital city and the Central Station.
- Fellfrost Peak — Tidesong Cavern, House of Hesperides, Svetloledovka. Mountain terrain with major world quest content.
- Flamefeather Valley — Okurov, Teeming Mire. The location of the In the Dwelling of Life quest chain.
- White Birch Snowgrave — Pilgrimage to the Sacred Gorge, Pale Crown Palace. The northernmost and most locked area — requires completing the Eye of Graeae quest chain to unlock.
White Birch Snowgrave cannot be accessed through free exploration. The extreme cold kills your party and the train cannot reach it without progressing specific quests. You need to complete both Hesperides of Love and Hate and In the Dwelling of Life before the northern route opens. Our Eye of Graeae fragments guide explains the full process.
New Things Added To Snezhnaya In Version 7.0
Beyond just exploration, Snezhnaya brings several new systems and rewards that are worth knowing before you arrive.
- Railway system: Snezhnaya is connected by a working train network. You unlock stations as you progress and can summon your own train car to fast-travel quickly between destinations.
- Shadow Realm and TPS mode: Certain quests drop you into the Shadow Realm, where Elemental abilities are locked and you fight using the TPS-mode gun instead.
- Prime Ice Constructs: Using the Eye of Graeae, you can build Grappling Guns, Cubes, and Floating Platforms to solve puzzles and reach new areas. Our guide on managing Prime Ice Constructs covers all the basics.
- Cryo Traveler: The Traveler’s seventh element, unlocked instantly at the first Statue of the Seven.
- Stellar Glimmer reactions: A new reaction type specific to Snezhnaya. See our Stellar Glimmer reaction guide for details.
- New playable characters: 5-star Cryo sword user Odette and free 4-star Electro polearm user Alyosha.
- Exaiphanes Blade: A free 5-star sword for the Traveler, upgraded by activating Statues of the Seven. See our Exaiphanes Blade guide for everything on how to power it up.
Troubleshooting — Why Can’t I Go To Snezhnaya?
If the Snezhnaya teleport waypoint is not appearing on your map, here are the most common reasons and fixes:
- Prologue Act III not completed: The only unlock requirement is finishing Song of the Dragon and Freedom in Mondstadt. Go back and check if this quest is still in your journal.
- Game not updated to Version 7.0: Make sure your client is fully updated. Snezhnaya is not available in earlier versions.
- Looking in the wrong place: The entry waypoint is on the northeastern edge of Nod-Krai, near the coast, close to the Institute of the False Moon domain. Scroll the map northeast of the Nod-Krai islands.
- White Birch Snowgrave specifically: This sub-region cannot be reached by teleport or free exploration. It requires completing specific world quest chains. See our Eye of Graeae guide for the unlock path.
Tips For Exploring Snezhnaya
- Unlock all Teleport Waypoints early — Snezhnaya is large and the train system only covers certain routes. Having waypoints everywhere saves a lot of time.
- Resonate with Cryo immediately — It is free, instant, and gives the Traveler a completely new kit that works well in most content.
- Keep the Eye of Graeae equipped — It is not optional. Without it, many areas and quests simply cannot be progressed.
- Do not rush to White Birch Snowgrave — The cold will kill your party without following the right quest path. Unlock it properly.
- Grab Alyosha early — He is free during the Archon Quest but may have a time window. Do not miss him.
- Check the Snezhnayan Adventure Journal — It automatically logs all World Quests in the region so you never miss content.
- Completing Snezhnaya’s exploration missions within a set time period after launch awards a bonus of 400 Primogems — prioritize unlocking the five sub-regions quickly if you want those rewards.
