The Sorrowful Jack Frost is a hidden encounter in Fellfrost Peak, Snezhnaya. Jack Frosts are the small, fluffy snowman fae native to the region. They communicate through sounds like “Ya-ho” and “Hee-ho,” and Paimon does her best to translate what they are saying.
When you approach the Sorrowful Jack Frost, you learn that it has lost three of its friends. They have scattered nearby and need your help to be found and freed. Since this challenge has no quest marker or entry in your Adventure Journal, many players walk right past it and miss the chests entirely.

Requirements Before You Start
You need two things before this challenge becomes available:
- Access to Fellfrost Peak: This sub-region of Snezhnaya opens as you progress through the Snezhnaya Archon Quest. If the area is locked or inaccessible, keep progressing the main story.
- Eye of Graeae and Prime Ice Constructs: You need the Eye of Graeae gadget to use Prime Ice Constructs — the Grappling Gun, Basic Heat Source, and Cube are all required here. Sorrowful Jack Frost Location — Where To Find It
Travel to the southwest edge of Fellfrost Peak. The Sorrowful Jack Frost stands near a small snow cabin in that area. It is not marked on the map, so you will need to explore the southwestern border of the sub-region until you spot it.
When you get close enough, the Jack Frost starts making distressed sounds. Approach it and interact to trigger the dialogue. Paimon explains that the snowman has lost three of its friends, and you agree to help find them. From this point, all three missing friends are within a short walking distance of the Sorrowful Jack Frost’s position.
How To Find All Three Lost Jack Frost Friends
Lost Friend 1 — East Of The Sorrowful Jack Frost
From where the Sorrowful Jack Frost is standing, turn east. You will see the first lost friend stuck behind two ice pillars. The snowman is trapped and cannot get free on its own.
To free it, open the Prime Ice Construct menu and place a Basic Heat Source near the ice pillars. Wait a few seconds for the ice to melt. Once both pillars dissolve, the trapped Jack Frost is free and immediately waddles back to its friend.
Lost Friend 2 — South Of The Sorrowful Jack Frost
Head south from the Sorrowful Jack Frost’s position. Keep your eyes on the ground — you are looking for a small hook sticking up out of the snow. It looks suspicious because it is. That hook belongs to one of the lost Jack Frost friends who has buried itself under the snow.
To pull it out, open the Prime Ice Construct menu and build a Grappling Gun right next to the hook. The construct latches on and pulls the buried Jack Frost up from beneath the snow. The snowman pops out and heads back to its friend. You can dismantle the Grappling Gun once it has done its job.
Lost Friend 3 — North Of The Sorrowful Jack Frost
Go north from the Sorrowful Jack Frost’s position. You will spot a rolling snowball moving across the ground. The third lost friend is trapped inside it and cannot stop on its own.
To rescue it, build a Cube directly in the snowball’s path. The cube blocks the rolling ball and stops it in its tracks. The Jack Frost inside emerges and returns to its friends.
Bonus achievement: If this is your first time stopping a rolling snowball using a Cube in Genshin Impact, you will unlock the “You Shall Not Pass” achievement automatically when the snowball hits the block.

Once all three lost friends are found and reunited with the Sorrowful Jack Frost, two rewards become available:

A Precious Chest spawns right outside the snow cabin near the Sorrowful Jack Frost’s location. Interact with it to collect your reward. Precious Chests in Fellfrost Peak can contain Primogems, Mora, Mystic Enhancement Ore, Hero’s Wit, and region-specific materials like Cryo Sigils.
Remarkable Chest And Cabin Exploration
After the reunion, the door to the snow cabin opens and you can step inside. The cabin contains several investigation spots with standard ingredients and materials scattered around. More importantly, there is a Remarkable Chest inside the cabin. Opening it rewards you with the “Open Wide!” furniture blueprint and some Adventure EXP.

- Dismantle the Grappling Gun after pulling out the second Jack Frost — leaving constructs active when you do not need them can cause confusion later
- The Basic Heat Source melts ice slowly — be patient and wait a few seconds for both pillars to dissolve fully before the Jack Frost can move
- Place the Cube directly in the snowball’s path, not beside it — the ball needs to physically hit the Cube to stop
- If you miss the snowball with the Cube, just build another Cube and try again. There is no time limit
- Explore the cabin fully after it opens — do not just grab the Remarkable Chest and leave. Check all the investigation spots for extra ingredients
