The Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts quest in Genshin Impact is a fun hidden challenge inside the House of Hesperides Mountain Mansion in Snezhnaya. When you approach a group of four Jack Frosts on the Main Floor, three of them scatter and hide in creative spots around the mansion. Your job is to find all three using the right techniques — including a Prime Ice Construct — and send them back to their friends. This guide shows you exactly where each one is hiding and how to reveal them.
TL;DR
- Approach four Jack Frosts on the House of Hesperides Main Floor to trigger the hide-and-seek challenge.
- Jack Frost #1 hides behind a display shelf — use the Grappling Gun Prime Ice Construct to reveal it.
- Jack Frost #2 hides inside an icy vase — dismantle the vase using the Prime Ice Construct menu.
- Jack Frost #3 disguises itself as a barrel near the southern stairs — attack the barrel with a carrot nose.
- Return to the starting location after finding all three to collect an Exquisite Chest.
What Is the Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts Quest?
The Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts quest is one of the many hidden challenges inside the House of Hesperides, the grand Mountain Mansion in Snezhnaya’s Fellfrost Peak. The mansion is home to a large group of Jack Frost fae — the small, chunky, fluffy creatures native to Snezhnaya who communicate by saying “Ya-ho” and “Hee-ho.” Some of them love to play, and that includes a good game of hide-and-seek with the Traveler.
When you approach the group of four Jack Frosts gathered on the mansion’s Main Floor, three of them immediately bolt and hide in different spots around the room. They disguise themselves as furniture and objects to avoid being found. The fourth stays behind to supervise. You need to figure out where each one went and use your Prime Ice Construct tools to flush them out.
This is just one of over fifteen challenges inside the House of Hesperides. For a full overview of every challenge in the mansion, check out our All House of Hesperides Challenges guide.
How to Unlock the Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts Quest
The House of Hesperides is a locked location. You cannot simply walk in. To gain access, you need to obtain an Invitation to the “Ritual” — this happens as part of the Hesperides of Love and Hate world quest chain in Snezhnaya.

Before that, make sure you have:
- Completed Archon Quest Prologue: Act III – Song of the Dragon and Freedom to unlock Snezhnaya and receive the Eye of Graeae gadget.
- Progressed through Archon Quest Chapter VII: Act I – Everwinter Without Mercy and completed Gunfire in the Silent Lands to unlock Snezhnayan world quests.
- Started and progressed through the Hesperides of Love and Hate quest chain until you receive the Invitation to the “Ritual.”
Once you have the Invitation, fast-travel to the House of Hesperides Main Floor teleport waypoint in Fellfrost Peak and head inside.
How to Start the Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts Quest
When you arrive on the Main Floor, walk toward the group of four Jack Frosts gathered together in the hall. As soon as you get close enough, three of them will scatter in different directions and hide somewhere nearby. The fourth stays in place, watching with amusement.
The quest is now active. No dialogue needed — the Jack Frosts running away is your cue to start searching. Before you do, make sure your Eye of Graeae has enough Kresnik Energy to build at least one Prime Ice Construct. You will need it for the first Jack Frost location. Refill your energy at a nearby Mini Kresnik Torch if it is running low.
Where to Find All Three Jack Frosts
Jack Frost Location #1 – Behind the Display Shelf

From the starting position where the Jack Frosts scattered, head southeast toward the display shelf against the wall. The first Jack Frost is hiding behind or inside this shelf.
To reveal it, follow these steps:
- Open the Prime Ice Construct menu while facing the shelf.
- Select the Grappling Gun construct. This requires 7 Prime Ice to build.
- Place the Grappling Gun directly in front of the shelf so it can hook onto the shelf’s structure.
- Activate the Grappling Gun — it will hook and destroy the display shelf, revealing the Jack Frost hiding behind it.
The Jack Frost pops out, says its “Ya-ho!” in delight or surprise, and heads back toward the main gathering spot. One down.
Jack Frost Location #2 – Inside the Icy Vase
From the display shelf, head northwest across the Main Floor to find a large icy vase. The second Jack Frost has squeezed itself inside this vase and is waiting to be discovered.

To reveal it:
- Open the Prime Ice Construct menu and aim it at the icy vase.
- Select the Dismantle option on the vase.
- The vase breaks apart and the second Jack Frost tumbles out, heading back to rejoin its friends.
You do not need to place a construct for this one — just use the dismantle function on the vase directly. Two down.
Jack Frost Location #3 – Disguised as a Barrel
The third Jack Frost has the most obvious disguise — and the most obvious tell. Head toward the southern stairs of the Main Floor. Right next to the stairs, you will find a barrel sitting innocuously among the other furniture. The difference? This barrel has a carrot nose.

To reveal it:
- Walk up to the barrel with the carrot nose.
- Attack the barrel with any basic attack from your character.
- The Jack Frost inside yelps and emerges from its disguise, waddling back to the group.
No construct needed for this one either — a simple attack is all it takes. Three down.
Note: Right near this third Jack Frost’s location at the southern stairs, there is a curtain. Behind it is the entrance to the Wine Cellar, where a completely separate challenge — Jack Frosts in the Wine Cellar — awaits. That challenge has you hitting rolling barrels toward a Jack Frost in the racking area and rewards a Precious Chest. If you have not done it yet, it is worth stepping through.
Collect Your Reward
Once all three Jack Frosts are back with their friend at the original gathering spot, return to where the four Jack Frosts are now reunited. An Exquisite Chest spawns at their location. Open it to collect your rewards.
The Exquisite Chest can contain:
- Intricately Patterned Buttons – a special collectible from the House of Hesperides
- Cryo Sigil – Snezhnaya’s regional currency used at Meeting Points
- Primogems
- Standard exploration rewards like Adventure EXP and Mora
What Are Intricately Patterned Buttons?
The Intricately Patterned Buttons you collect from House of Hesperides chests are a special currency connected to the Jack Frost residents of the mansion. They are exchanged at the Jack Frost Goodie Shop in Jack Frost Village — the snowy igloo settlement of Jack Frost fae in Snezhnaya.
The Jack Frost Goodie Shop unlocks after completing the Small Jack Frost, Big Problems world quest. Items you can buy with Intricately Patterned Buttons include:
- A Touch of Frost in Scorching Summer! – an exclusive weapon skin
- Construct Appearance: Jack Frost – a cosmetic skin for your Prime Ice Constructs
- Various level-up materials and Snezhnayan collectibles
The more House of Hesperides challenges you complete, the more buttons you collect and the more items you can buy from the shop.
Tips for the Hide-and-Seek Jack Frosts Quest
Make Sure You Have 7 Prime Ice Before Starting
The Grappling Gun construct for Jack Frost #1 costs 7 Prime Ice. If your Eye of Graeae energy is low when you arrive, the Jack Frosts will still scatter, but you will not be able to build the construct immediately. Step outside and refill at a Mini Kresnik Torch or break some Kresnik Kristall Ores nearby before you approach the Jack Frosts to ensure you have enough energy ready.
Look for the Carrot Nose on Jack Frost #3
The barrel disguise is meant to look inconspicuous, but Jack Frost #3 was not very subtle about it. The carrot nose sticking out of the barrel is the giveaway. Scan around the southern stairs area and you will spot it quickly once you know what to look for.
Explore the Whole Floor While You Are There
Since you are already on the Main Floor looking around, check for the other Jack Frost challenges and puzzles nearby. The Kitchen challenge with Vershina is in the northwest corner and rewards three chests. The barrel-rolling Wine Cellar challenge is just behind the curtain near Jack Frost #3. You can knock out multiple challenges in one visit.
Use the Eye of Graeae Mansion Map to Track Progress
If you lose track of which challenges you have and have not done inside the mansion, open your Eye of Graeae to display the House of Hesperides floor map. Completed sections are marked so you can quickly see what remains.
