TL;DR
- The Mysterious Dog appears 7 times across different zones in Control Resonant.
- Each time, her Dragon Toy is missing — you need to find it and return it to her bed.
- Zones: Downtown, Central, Evacuation Zone, West Incursion Zone, The Park, Underpass, Unknown.
- After all 7 encounters, visit The Gap for the final interaction and the Dog’s Best Friend trophy.
- Some toys need traversal abilities like Shift or Reach — come back if you’re stuck.
The Mysterious Dog is one of the most charming side quests in Control Resonant. She’s a small white dog that keeps losing her teal Dragon Toy in every zone you visit. Find the toy, return it to her bed, and repeat across all seven regions. Complete all of them and you unlock the Every Dog Has Her Day side story and the Dog’s Best Friend trophy or achievement.
This guide covers every dog location, every toy location, and what abilities you may need. If you get stuck on any specific section, we have detailed walkthroughs linked below.
How the Mysterious Dog Quest Works
Each time you enter a new zone, the Mysterious Dog may appear on a rooftop nearby. When you find her, she’ll be sitting next to an empty bed — her Dragon Toy is missing. Your job is to find the toy in that same area and carry it back to place in her bed.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Look for a white paw icon on your minimap — that marks her position when you’re close enough.
- The Dragon Toy is always within the same zone, but sometimes it’s far or high up.
- You can only carry the toy on foot — no fast travel while holding it.
- Some toys are locked behind gravity traversal. If you can’t reach one, come back after you unlock Shift or Reach.
All Mysterious Dog Locations in Control Resonant
1. Downtown Mysterious Dog Location
This is usually the first dog most players find. If you’re just starting out, you’ll likely stumble across her naturally while exploring.
The dog is on a rooftop at the southern edge of Downtown, along the road heading away from the Oldest House. Look for the street chasm in that area — she’s just past it on an elevated rooftop.

Dragon Toy location: Face southeast from the dog. You’ll see a lower rooftop with a dog food commercial painted on the side. The Dragon Toy is sitting by the stairwell door on the roof directly above that billboard. Use Rush and Elevate to get up there, grab the toy, and carry it back to her bed.
2. Central Mysterious Dog Location

The Central dog sits on a rooftop north of East Park Station. If you’ve done the Power Lines quest in this zone, you’ll recognize the area quickly. Check our Control Resonant Power Lines walkthrough if you need help navigating Central.

Dragon Toy location: From the dog, look directly north and down into the alley below. You’ll see a lit-up Chowrap billboard at the far end. The Dragon Toy is on the ground right at the base of that billboard. Watch out for Hiss hazards in the alley on your way in and on the return trip.
3. Evacuation Zone Mysterious Dog Location

The dog is located northeast of the Sinkhole in the Evacuation Zone. She’s on a red-lit rooftop surrounded by distorted buildings — the gravity anomalies here make this encounter feel different from the first two.

Dragon Toy location: Look west from the dog and you’ll see two mirrored Chowrap billboards. The Dragon Toy is in the lit area near those billboards, resting on a nearby inverted rooftop. Gravity traversal helps here, and Reach can make the route much easier. Check our Urban Survival quest walkthrough for more Evacuation Zone orientation tips.
4. West Incursion Zone Mysterious Dog Location

Head to the northwest part of the West Incursion Zone, west of the Parking Garage. The dog is on a shifted rooftop — one that’s been tilted by the Incursion’s gravity effects.

Dragon Toy location: Face away from the dog and look south toward a nearby Chowrap billboard. The toy is to the left of the billboard, on top of a rooftop air-conditioning unit. Gravity traversal or Shift makes this significantly easier. If you haven’t got Shift yet, read our guide on how to get the Shift ability in the Incursion Fault.
5. The Park Mysterious Dog Location

In The Park, the dog is on a rooftop at the northeastern edge of the zone, near the Mold Factory dimensional door. If you need a reference point, she’s directly north of Underhill’s Apartment — a location you visit during the New Growth side story. See our New Growth guide for more context.

Dragon Toy location: Look east from the dog. You’ll see a higher rooftop that you can reach via an exterior elevator. The elevator needs a Power Core to run, so activate it first. Once it’s working, ride it up and grab the toy from the desk near the billboard at the top. Carry it back down and return it to the bed.
6. Underpass Mysterious Dog Location

The Underpass dog is one of the trickier ones. She’s high up on a structure northeast of the Research Site. Use Reach points to climb up to her platform.

Dragon Toy location: Look directly above the dog — the toy is stuck to the ceiling thanks to a gravity anomaly. You can’t just jump up and grab it. Instead, find a wall nearby that Dylan can Shift onto, follow the side route along the red-carpet gravity path, and walk along the ceiling to the toy. Once you have it, cancel the gravity inversion to drop back down normally, then place the toy in the dog’s bed.
For full traversal routes in this area, see our Underpass Resonant walkthrough and our guide on how to get the Reach ability from the Subway Fault.
7. Unknown Zone Mysterious Dog Location

The final regional encounter is in the Unknown Zone. The dog is on a garden rooftop on the northwest island, close to the Patterned Field Office fast travel door. She’s sitting beside string lights and a small rooftop garden — easy to spot once you’re in the right area. If you’re having trouble getting here, see our guide on how to reach the Unknown Zone.

Dragon Toy location: This is the longest route of the seven. From the dog, look left and find the large building with a multi-dog billboard on it. The toy is on the upper balcony where the arrow on that billboard points, near an air conditioning unit and a table under a BAR sign. Cross via the building marked with a skull, use the overhead beams, and follow the gravity anomaly through. Pick up the toy from the bench and carry it all the way back.
How to Complete Every Dog Has Her Day (Dog’s Best Friend Trophy)
Returning all seven Dragon Toys is not the end of the quest. After completing all seven regional encounters, head to The Gap. The Mysterious Dog will now be sitting there permanently. Interact with her and the Every Dog Has Her Day side story will complete, immediately unlocking the Dog’s Best Friend trophy or achievement.
It’s a short but satisfying ending to one of Control Resonant’s best hidden side quests.

Tips for Finding the Mysterious Dog Faster
- Watch for the white paw icon on your minimap. It appears when you’re close to the dog.
- Look for Chowrap billboards — the Dragon Toy is almost always near one. Use them as visual landmarks.
- Unlock Shift and Reach before attempting later zones. The Underpass and Unknown Zone encounters need these abilities. Without them, you physically cannot reach the toy.
- Don’t fast travel while holding the toy — you’ll drop it and have to go back.
- If a rooftop looks inaccessible, check for a nearby gravity anomaly wall — Dylan can Shift onto sideways and upside-down surfaces.
